Customer Reviews Back to Top
Comments: I am a Daiwa fan though also use both Shimano and Quantum. After reading a few less than positive reviews, I feel just in stating my opinion: It is no less than either. This reel has gobs of hop up parts available for purchase and it's beautiful.
Comments: Update to my previous review: the reel is NOT meant for saltwater. Soon after having one bearing replaced another went bad. I have three other reels Shimano and Abus and none of them have had this issue. A complete waste of money!!!
From: David: Tampa, FL
Comments: This is a beautiful reel, and I love the freshwater Zillions; however, I will not be buying this version as 7.3:1 is way too fast for a saltwater plugging reel in my opinion. If it was offered in 6.+ to 1 or 5.+ to 1, I would order it this very second. What a shame that Daiwa sacrificed power for this unnecessarily high speed ratio in a saltwater version of the great Zillion line. I hate to imagine trying to keep a nice snook or red out of the mangroves with a 7.3:1 plug reel.
Comments: I love this reel I pulled in several salmon in Benicia and it handled them well with 12lb mono. I paired it with a g loomis gl2 med heavy. I also use it for halibut in the sf bay, no rust yet on the reel a must have.

Comments: Amazing reel, First I was fishing an Abu revo ST reel. After that i bought this reel en putted in an extra bearing (ebay). Not easy to open but WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE. fishing with 0.12 dyneema Better than others! I caught a 43.3 Inch Northern Pike, no doubt this reel was gonna fail. Good price Amazing performance Cool details/colors

Comments: I had the reel for less than 4 months and the one of the bearings started going bad and the paint started chipping off this plastic part on the front of the reel. I had my curado for years before changing the bearings. It does cast very well but with all the settings it can be very touchy, I already lost an expensive swimbait because of this reel. For the price I paid I am very disappointed, give me a curado any day at half the price. By the way this is my second daiwa reel the coastal was a horrible reel as well, I gave it away.
From: Dave: FL
Comments: I was about to purchase this reel untill i seen the tackletour review, only 9lbs of drag pressure for a "inshore" reel..... come on daiwa... step it up.
From: Adam: Anaheim, CA
Comments: Greatest reel ever created. If you have the money, buy a zillion. Much better then any abu, quantum, or shimano. I am not a daiwa rep or in any way associated with daiwa. I have owned all major manufacturer's reels, and this is by far the best investment you will ever make. If you are serious about fishing, the price tag is easy to overlook. Just buy a zillion and you will understand.

Comments: awsome reel

Comments:I have both the 50th Ann & the Coastal in left handed. Both reels are exceptional products. These are speedy work horses. Long rods, deep cranks and then you see how perfect they work. I am very pleased with both reels. The Coastal is also my favorite for small jerk baits. I score both 5/5.
From:Harlan: Corydon, IN
Comments:If this reel is anything like the 50th Anniversary reel then I wouldn't recommend it. That is the worst handle set up I have ever held. I fish all Shimanos. I wanted to try a new brand, and for two hundred dollars I was very let down. If I had given three hundred I would've had a meltdown.
