Team Daiwa Zillion Type R Casting Reels - $399.99
The New Team Daiwa Zillion-R Casting Reel further raises the bar of the Zillion line with Daiwa's latest innovations in reel technology and sleek Japanese styling. The Zillion Type-R features an aluminum frame and side gear plate, providing the strength and stiffness necessary to handle the lightning-fast "Hyper-Speed" 7.3:1 gear ratio. The Zillion-R is silky smooth thanks to it's 12 bearings (11 ball bearings + 1 roller bearing), a "free-floating spool," and infinite anti-reverse. Precise adjustments can be made to the reel thanks to micro click knobs on the bearing cap and the top-of-the-line "Magforce-Z" magnetic breaking system. The Zillion-R isn't all precision, though: a rugged 6-point drive train and powerful Ultimate Tournament Drag mean this reel is ready for anything. Zillion-R has taken it's subtle styling cues from Japanese reel enthusiasts. Red highlights compliment aluminum finish trim, and the new Daiwa "Carbon Swept" handle is a perfect addition to this enthusiast-inspired reel.
Comments: I have both the 50th anniversary and the Type R. The latter is so much more smoother in cranking and further in casting. I am suspecting this is a black version of JDM PE special zillion which is having the helical cut or digi gear but with upgraded ball bearings.

Comments:This reel is nice but it feels like my reguliar Zillion as far as smoothness goes. There is a Japanese 2009 model: TD ZILLION 100L(Left model) 7.3-Limited, I tried in Japan that feels even smoother, but it'll cost you another $200. more then this one. I do like the handle on this model better however. I bought this model because I couldn't find the Japanese model in left hand.

Comments:I have 2 of these and I think they the best reels I own and I own 2 steez casting reels, their a little heavier but fit better in your hand, they are worth every penny smooooth.... very smooth.

Comments:Nice reel, pretty much the same thing as the last few special editions. I prefer my 50th anniversary model more.
From:Gary: Texas, USA
Comments:I recently caught several largemouth bass with this reel and a custom z-bone from Kistler. This reel paired with that rod are a match made in heaven. I have the base Zillion and it doesn't even compare to Type R.
From:John: Tennessee, USA
Comments:Haven't taken mine out fishing yet, but man you can tell this reel is smoother than any other Zillion. I don't hear the gears mesh like they do on my 50th.
