Overview

The Yamamoto Flappin' Hog was originally only available in Asia and has now officially made its way to the States. The Flappin' Hog has three distinct types of appendages. The appendages closest to the tail section are the longest and have the most weight of the appendages. The riveted body of these appendages will create vibration and action during the fall and when shaking this bait.

Yamamoto has incorporated new designs and characteristics, but they have also stuck with some of the characteristics of their proven baits. The appendages on the Flappin' Hog are close to the body so it can get in and out of tight cover with ease. Yamamoto has also incorporated a hollow section close to the tail to allow easy hook penetration through the bait. The design of the Yamamoto Flappin' Hog makes it an ideal bait for flipping and pitching.

FantasticYes, these are FRAGILE. Oh well. 3/0 straight shank hook, light bullet weight (pegged) and you have the best flippin soft plastic tied on. Catches them when they are active and when they are not. Buy a few packs, they go fast.

Previous Feedback

Comments: Really excels as a jig trailer. When texas rigged they work great, but like people say they are fragile and don't last too long (like a senko). However, on a jig they last 4-5 fish. Definitely a confidence bait for me.

Comments: As a hobbyist angler, who has used this popper on lakes and ponds, I have to say it is fantastic!  I only own 1, and it is the Ivory Halo color.  So it is white with the chrome stripes.  Finish has lasted, but it has battle scars.  I don't use a loop not, but a snap clip tied on the end of mono or braid. This lure can make a "bloop" sound if jerked correctly, but this lure is designed to "walk the dog", roll and spit.  It leaves a bubble trail and is less subtle of a lure compared to the megabass popx (which I also own and use). I know there are some hesitations about its size, but in reality, size doesn't matter, the action does.  The action is unique and unmatched.  Would I love to see an 80-85 mm version of this popper, sure. I have caught monsters, medium and small fish alike on this lure.  This lure also catches panfish on top during the summer.  As soon as the sunlight gets dim, this lure is up on deck. It is also deadly when it is pitch black and fished on a steady or pausing retrieve.  Like all lures, they are tools to catch fish.  I own other poppers like the Cover Pop and Pop-R etc, and they all have their place.  I am happy I have one in my tackle box because it does produce!

Comments: Well this bait is 1. Not durable and 2. 0 action. The fish bite it who knows why but they do.

From: John: California 3/31/21

Comments: Love these. Why? Glad you asked. They are versatile. Yup, pitch them. But, open up your mind, man. See the possibilities? Yup...they are costly and fragile, but who cares...they work and not everyone uses them, unless you fish in New Jersey. Yuck.

From: Rufus: Texas 9/25/20

Comments: The best jig trailer I've ever used. This gets bites on a full profile football jig when even finesse jigs and worms are getting ignored. 0 action and not very durable but the fish just want the profile of this bait.

From: Unknown: 5/26/20

Comments: Are they durable? No. Are they budget friendly? No. Then why purchase it? BECAUSE THEY FLAT OUT CATCH FISH. These creature baits work year round, and work extremely well in pressured waters. These baits have two appendages that creates air bubbles underwater. Texas rig these with a 2/0 EWG hook and you will not be disappointed. Yamamoto baits never fail to impress me.

From: NewJerseyAnglin: NJ 9/2/18

Comments: Nothing but confidence in this bait. Not much action but it presents a very realistic "bug-like" profile when used as a jig trailer. My 2 biggest bass fell for this bait. Coincidence? Maybe. But it shows that this bait will entice bites from the biggest , smartest bass in the lake.

From: Jason: Ontario 9/6/17

Comments: This is my go to bait. Ive used it for flipping, dragging jigs, even put them on my spinner baits for that nighttime bite. All around good lure on every body of water I fish here in California. Especially the Delta.....

From: Ben: CA 1/6/15

Comments: Great Craw bait! 3.75inch is the perfect size... may not be cheap nor durable but it flat out catches fish and not as expensive compared to all those JDM baits (Megabass/Evergreen/Deps/O.S.P). Try 2/0,3/0 Decoy hook (Snell Knot), Zappu Saskirt, Evergreen 1/4oz Tungsten Bullet Sinker, Decoy Punch Stop M and you got the best T-rig IMO

From: Toshiya: IL 4/19/14

Comments: Pitched this bait weightless around grass and pads in Florida for 3 months-the bass hammered this bait so hard they would knock slack in my line. they are expensive and not real durable but they sure got a lot of attention from the bass and that is what matters to me. I never go fishing anywhere without a supply of Flapping Hogs

From: Dave: USA 4/13/14

Comments: This bait really works! I caught my first Large mouth bass on it. The thing was seven and a half pounds, the silly fish broke the poll I was using! All in all, its a personal favorite.

From: Daniel: Yuma, Arizona. US

Comments: rookie anglers should try and recognize their ignorance before writing bad reviews. This bait is top shelf. I trick wizards in super clear water with the flappin hawg 2. Sorry to the haters, GYB doesn't make these in a Playskool plastic. GYB 4 life.

From: Bassdale: NJ

Comments: these are some of the greatest flipping baits ever!! Rig them on a 2/0 or 3/0 ewg hook and BOOM! I found some early spawning fish and I couldn't stop catching them! No need for a weight at all, Yamamoto baits seem to be better weightless. A bass took off the back flaps and I still caught fish on it!

From: Ethan: Kansas

Comments: This bait is awesome. Someone gave me one to try and now i'm hooked. Great bait!

From: Chet: London, KY

Comments: I went through a whole pack today at the California Delta. Green Pumpkin Bk Flk. Great bait! Texas rig for sure!

From: RicRoc: Tracy, CA

Comments: I absolutely love this bait, because I find that it has the actions not many others do. I picked these up a while back, and have had no bad luck. Awesome lure that has not failed to bring in fish yet. I throw it every time I fish and it always has given me success. Yamamoto knows what they are doing.

From: Derek

Comments: cool bait i like dragging it along the bottom on a carolina or texas rig in lakes with little or no vegetation for both largemouth and smallmouth but i find it is hard to flip in heavy cover because of all the appendages
