About This Rod
Minimal material with maximum effect is the concept behind the new Shimano Expride Casting Rods. Featuring advanced, new Hi-Power X blanks, Shimano's proprietary Hi-Power X construction process utilizes hoop and axial materials wrapped with carbon tape woven in a 45-degree X-pattern. This unique process creates an incredibly lightweight rod with increased compression strength and power. It also greatly reduces rod twist, which translates in to vastly improved lure and tip control during casting.
Shimano further maximized the performance attributes of the Expride series with the use of a new CI4 Reel Seat. CI4 is the same material used in the Chronarch and Stradic CI4 reels, and it further contributes to the overall lightness of the the rods, while also increasing the sensitivity transferred into the angler’s hands. The Fuji Stainless Steel Guides with SiC Inserts are some of the best in the business as well, offering the durability and performance necessary to match the Expride’s advanced performance attributes. Available in a range of actions and tapers for a variety of bass fishing applications, the Shimano Expride Casting Rods deliver top-notch performance.

Comments: Great rods. I have 2 now that are just over 1-year old past warranty but with 0 issues. Guides have been great ree lseat is solid. The accuracy when using a Expride is much different even compared to a GLX/NRX blank. The Spiral wrapping deffinately makes the rod easy to cast and landing a frog on a particular lilly pad is easy. I have the 7'3XH,7'1H & 7'3MH Crankbait model. 5/5 Remember Shimano is covering defects in there rods, not our misfortune when we hit the door or cealing fan down the rod. The result is a better rod without paying for replacements down the rod. Take care of the rod and it will last years.

Comments: I have already made one review for these rods and decided to make another now that I have had a chance to fish several models. I have been using the 7'3" Glass Crankbait Rod for 3/8oz and 1/2oz Chatter Baits and it is the best rod I have ever used for them. I have been using the 7'3" Medium Heavy for 3/8oz and 1/2oz Swim Jigs as well as Biffle Bug and can't be happier. These rods are called 2 piece rods but you can't tell because the top part goes in at the handle. This is very common with Japanese Models due to there lack of space and small cars. Plus Shimano has improved the warranty.

Comments: This rod is incredibly balanced, very light & very sensitive. I've never fished a loomis nrx but it feels in hand just like that o me. Very comparable to the steez in performance & in looks and quality.

Comments: Bought the 6'8" MH. Rod is extremely light which translates to great sensitivity. Haven't had enough time on the water to know if a rod this light and sensitive will hold up to hard use but I'm hopeful. Handle fits my hand like a glove & balances very well with all my Lew's reels. I was skeptical about the X wrap technology, just sounded gimmicky to me. But after trying it, WOW. I use this rod for skipping jigs and it skips and pitches more accurately than any other rod I have used! Huge thumbs up... My only complaints are I'm not too crazy about the looks of the BIG cork lockdown screw and the color of the blank.

Comments: I got the 7' Medium Glass Crankbait rod and have been using it for 1.5 and 2.5 Square Bill crankbaits and absolutely love this rod. I cast so accurate and effortlessly on a roll cast and loads really good when you get bit. Do yourself a favor and give this rod a try you will not regret it.

Comments: incredible peace of craftmanship! Light balanced incredibly sensitive. I'd rate is as good as or better than an orochi xx ...miles ahead of the cumara

Comments: Rod is unbelievable but i have no idea why they wouldn't use there over the counter warranty on this rod. It really turned me off of spending this much money on a rod and only getting 1 year Warranty and i am sure i'm not the only one who thinks that. so i just got a Cumara instead :) haha
