good for priceSeems to be a good value for price. Works well but the reel tension adjustability seems imprecise.

Great reel, drag is lameThis is a great option for those looking to get into BFS. Very light reel that cast extremely light baits very far, BUT the drag on this reel sounds like the drag on a cheap spinning reel or a spincast reel. Yeah, it's nitpicking, but there might be someone who'll find that sound as a dealbreaker.

Ark Gravity BFS reelI can't really give a fishing review yet as I am currently waiting on parts to finish building a BFS rod. Initial concern out of the box is the reel does not feel as free as I think it should. Turning the handle feels sluggish. Hopefully it is just grease/oil needing redistributed once it starts getting used.

Tough to beatGot a deal too good to pass up on 2 of these. Wasnt exactly expecting the moon from an Ark reel. Usually, light composite reels have a cheap feel, but the frame is plenty solid and the drag is smooth. I don't know if it's a fluke, as my second Gravity BFS is still in the box, but this reel is unreasonably smooth. This winter has been brutally cold. I had 4 or 5 days fishing off the bank with it before the water hardened. The biggest fish taken so far was about 3lbs, with a half dozen more that were 2lb and up and it handled everything great. Casting wise, the performance is solid. In order to get max performance, you need to dial in the brakes, which can be a little temperamental. IMO, my Gravity BFS, outperforms the Curado BFS I had used. A friend of mine feels the same way.

Best BFS reel to price on the marketI purchased this reel looking to get into BFS. So far I've thrown lures ranging from 1g - 8g at about 30 - 50 yards. I've caught 4-5lb bass and didn't feel like it struggled at all. Other's say there's grinding or winding noises from casting but I lightly lube all my reels from factory and haven't heard or felt anything weird. Overall I think this is one of the best BFS reels price to value on the market.

It’s pretty nice.I like it for trout mags and other super ultra light things. It casts pretty well, the feel of it is just what is off for me. It feels kinda grindy and the drag has some inconsistency. It’s pretty nice for trout and panfish thought. I just use it for my lighter stuff now.

Hit or missEven though I read the concerning reviews, as you are now, I took a chance that I'd get one of the reels like the happy reviewers got. Such was not the case. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because I loved the reel for the first 20 minutes of use. Then the bearings started screaming on every cast. It was a horrible high pitch squeal. New bearings should not do that! The only thing worse than the quality of the reel was Ark's customer service. They were stone cold about the issue with a form letter response and wanting me to pay for the return of their brand new defective product. My interaction with them told me all I needed to know about ever buying another of their products. Tackle warehouse is amazing and stepped in to handle the return without punishing the customer of a defective product. Thanks TW, y'all rock, and I keep coming back again and again. If you are on the fence with this Ark BFS and the Curado, spend a little bit more and get the Curado BFS rather than roll the dice on getting a quality Ark product. I have had the Curado BFS for almost a year with heavy use and have never had a problem.

Very PleasedThis reel performs way above its asking price as far as I'm concerned, especially with TW sales. I've tried a few more expensive options, and this one will hang with reels at twice the price in my opinion. Easy to dial in especially if you don't overpower the cast. Let the rod do the work with super light lures and life will be easy. Once I've found the brake setting for a given lure it's smooth sailing. Not finicky at all. Definitely not a situation where one click up or down on the dial causes a drastic change one way or the other. I consider this a generous braking system that provides some warning when one gets close to the redline of a backlash. In contrast, some reels will "fall off a cliff" one click or one number down on a dial where you go from safely casting to a runaway spool. Spool weight matters with BFS reels, and this one's competitive in that regard with anything available stateside. I'm very pleased.
