Prefer this over the MagdraftI’ve rigged this bait with the Owner beast belly hook and line thru treble. I prefer the treble as I fish mostly grass flats/open water and can keep the bait in the water column where I need to.
The Daingerous doesn’t have any issues rolling or have a particular speed you need to retrieve it which is the common perception with the Magdrafts. Fast, slow, in between… it performs great.
I have noticed an issue with tearing of the bait after a few fish, granted they were both largemouth over 5lbs on the same day so take that how you will.
Overall this is my preferred soft plastic swimbait and can’t beat it for the price.
Great baitI prefer this over the magdraft for sure. Haven't had the problems with snags others are talking about. I throw mine right in the middle and over sparse tules and winch striper out of em. comes through grass and through trees well. I haven't bottom crawled it much but I feel like that wouldn't be the best option anyways because it didn't fish slow well for me. Big fan of this bait because of affordability and durability. Have caught over 10 2-10lb striper on one bait
Snags easilyAs previously stated in past reviews, this bait snags like crazy. The action was good but I lost both baits I had within an hour of use. You would think because of the hook being on top, it would allow you to crawl it on the bottom, but this bait cannot lay on its belly and will turn on its side, snagging anything on the bottom, unlike the savage gear pulse tail trout, which can be crawled over rocks without snagging.
Good but needs more color optionsIf we compare the bait that inspired this bait to itself, this weedless version is good…but it’s not unique like the loaded version. Any weedless bait is going to run straight if you rig it correctly, a 1/4oz+ belly weight hook is gonna keel just fine as long as you rig it straight. The Loaded version is certainly more versatile and can be run at a greater range of speeds than the standard Magdraft. This version and the Freestyle Magdraft essentially run the same when rigged correctly, maybe a little more tail thump for the Bass Mafia bait. Price wise, they’re fairly close.
Biggest detractor for this bait currently is the lack of color options. The Freestyle comes in a bunch of nuanced colors, allowing you to more closely match the forage. And most times, you want throw a weedless bait late spring thru fall when the grass is up or the fish’s are in thick cover. That’s the time of year where the water is normally clearest, the bait is plentiful and the fish have seen a bunch of baits. Subtle colors matter when you’re hatch matching for pressured fish locked in on specific bait. Other than that, it hold its value.
Very pleased, good durabilityI bought this bait hoping to catch a big largie, but so far it has been the smallies that are crushing it. I had a pike tear it up a bit, but I used some mend it and it was as good as new. Yesterday I caught 10 smallies on it, and they were hitting it so hard, it was awesome. Needed a little bit more mend it where the hook goes through the slot, but after about 15-20 fish it’s still going strong.
Great BaitI rigged one of the baits weedless and the other line thru with a belly treble. The action is great rigged both ways but I prefer the line they for striper although the hookup ratio is not very good. I had over five bites before getting a solid hookup and the fish were all in the 7-15lb class so it was not an issue of small fish. I look forward to trying the loaded version but wish there was a 7.5 or 8” version.
Zaldain is the BOSSBeen using the Loaded version for several weeks. Have caught 30+ fish on one before it was shot. The heavy duty flipping hook works flawlessly and most fish are always pinned in the top lip. Caught multiple 7’s and 8’s. No double digits yet, but it’s coming. Just wish there was an 8” and 10” version available for the Loaded model. Zaldian fixed my biggest issue with the Magdraft. He moved the hook to the top so I can fish it effectively around cover where big lips like to live. Just tried the Freestyle-type for the first time and caught 17 bass in 2-hours. Lost 2 that were plus 6’s. My hookup ratio is better using the Loaded version. Really like that big heavy duty flipping hook in the Loaded version.
Don’t let the haters fool youA lot of haters are trying to compare this to the Magdraft. This bait is a huge improvement from the mag draft. I’m able to fish this bait a variety of ways and it’s a lot more durable.
An excellent complement for the Magdraft.I fish both this bait and the Magdraft a fair bit. When it comes to swimming mid-column, the Magdraft is still very much king. However, whenever I'm fishing around cover, I infinitely prefer the Daingerous. It is far, far more durable than the Magdraft freestyle, and I have not noticed any difference in the effectiveness. In addition, while the Magdraft's one, perfect retrieve has better action than the Daingerous at that specific speed, the Daingerous is far more versatile, letting you work the bait far more freely. Overall, it's far from a replacement for the Magdraft, but after fishing it I certainly wouldn't call it a knock off. I view the Daingerous and the Magdraft as complementary baits, each one nicely covering for the other's shortfalls. I encourage you to look past the polarizing controversy regarding this bait's development, and give it a try.

Comments: This bait has been lights out here in NH. It rolls through cover beautifully and just doesn't blow out at any speed. I just retired my first bait after about 15-20 3lb-5.5lb fish. This bait gets straight chewed. It looks like a magdraft but fishes nothing like it. You don't have to worry about keeping your speed perfect she just runs true and gets hammered.

Comments: I'm going to stick with the mag draft over this knock off bait. What most people seem to miss is the magdraft was not designed to be burned which is why it blows out. It's built for slow winding. The magslowl is megabass' version of a burning swimbait.

Comments: These companies aren't even trying anymore. Fished these side by side with the magdraft and its nothing but a subpar knock off. Buy the original and stop letting the other guys get rich off blatant knock offs.

Comments: I'm a huge fan of Chris Zaldain, but honestly, I've yet to catch my first fish on this bait..... I've fished it side by side with my Magdraft Freestyle and the action just isn't the same.... my Magdraft gets bit.... this one just gets followed. I will admit it does swim better at faster speeds and doesn't blow out, but it's just too stiff to have the whole body wiggle like the Magdraft (in my opinion).

Comments: I really like these baits compared to the Magdraft for one they seem much more durable but time will tell and you can actually burn these baits without having them blow out unlike the Magdraft. Lots of people are upset for knocking off the Magdraft but that's just the fishing industry and almost every bait has some sort of knockoff so nothings wrong especially if you make the new ones better.

Comments: John Egbert is full of it lol. These baits unlike megabass don't roll over at all. In fact you can burn these and they dont roll! Which is impossible to do with a magdraft. It sounds like they haven't actually used this before. Durability is just as good if not better. The action is different from the magdraft as well. These seem to have a little more full body wiggle. The tail is bigger and thicker and the fins on the front allow this bait to run true and fall much more lifelike. There are quite a few differences when compared to a magdraft. You fish it once and I doubt you'll want to go back.

Comments: I have used these baits since they were in the prototype phase from "bass mafia" aka GOOGAN...don't be fooled. This is a money grab as a direct knock off of the Megabass Magdraft. Googan used Zaldain and the bass mafia brand to mask the easy $$$ gained from a near exact replica of the draft. I promise Zaldain didn't switch from Megabass to Googan because of product quality....These baits have poor action, very poor durability and roll over with any increase in speed. Buy Megabass for basically the same price and catch more fish.
