Best Versatile BraidI have used this braid for about 2 years, and it has become my favorite braided line. I have used the 30lb line for everything. I have used it for jigs, worms, spinnerbaits, frogs, and punching. etc(braid to fluorocarbon sometimes). I have used 30lb line on frogs in thick slop and pad, and have caught fish no problems (no frays or break-offs at all). I really have grown to like this line for it's versatility. But, if you're using it for finesse go with the 5x instead, if you 30lbs and up go with x9.
Not true weight ratingThe line is not as strong as other brands. Suffix 832 50lb is much stronger than the x9 50lb. I will birdnest on an unsmooth cast occasionally and my 1/2oz frog will snap the x9 50lb braid. Suffix 832 50lb has never once snapped on me. If you buy this line go up a weight rating.
Can't recommend this lineSpooled this today and went fishing. First, thank you Berkley for not putting a notch in the spool. It made it much easier than Power Pro to spool onto my spinning reel. First impression was good as the line casted well and was very quiet when retrieving through the guides. Now the bad, I got hung up 3 times and the 10 lb braid broke before my 8 lb leader did! No, it didn't break at the double uni knot, the usual breaking point with Power Pro, THE 10 LB BERKLEY X9 BRAID BROKE BEFORE THE KNOT LET GO OR THE 8 LB SUNLINE FC FLUOROCARBON DID! That's a deal breaker for me. The braid wasn't old and hadn't been drug across rocks either. I cannot recommend this braid and won't buy it again.

Comments: Very good line. I've been using 55lbs Daiwa Samurai, which is great, for 15 years. When I wanted something thinner and cheaper, I tried 30lbs X9. I liked it. Then, I tried 20lbs Daiwa J-Braid Grand 8X. The Daiwa seems to cast better, but the difference is very small. Berkley X9 is good, and I'm, sure I'll buy more.

Comments: flat out the best braid... and affordable! I fish 100% briad or Braid to leader (i do live in florida), and ever rell i own has x9 on it. 20lb for crankbait/jerkbait (10-17lb leader), 30lb for 80% of my set ups(topwater, texas rig, florida rig, and bigger crankbaits), 50lb for my frog and jigs, 65lb for my glidebaits, 10lb for my spinning rods and 80lb for my BIG swimbaits. power pro v2 is almost as good but fades faster and not as smooth... and more $

Comments: I have mixed feelings about this line. I had 2 different sizes spooled on a couple different reels (50 lb on my frog/punch setup and 20 lb on my finesse setup). The 50 lb has been great. It's very smooth, casts well, and has a thin diameter. On the other hand I wasn't impressed with the 20 lb. I found myself perpetually untangling knots and bird's nests no matter what I did. I made the switch back to PowerPro Spectra and have not had any of those issues since. This stuff is also quite pricey. I love Berkley products, but when it comes to braid I'll probably stick to PowerPro from here on out.

Comments: I picked up some 30lb X9 on a sale and it is a really good line. I used Sufix 832 for a couple of years and that is a really good line as well, but the color bled out pretty quickly. The X9 holds color longer than the 832, and to me seems to be a little quieter as well.

Comments: I have used the 10 and 15LB on spinning reels for two seasons now and it has worked very well, the color has lasted well and it's quiet through the guides. Between the two reels I have landed well over 50 Salmon and have no complaints. The 15lb is just about ready to flip over on the spool and go for another two seasons. I have been using a Double Uni-knot to Seaguar and P-Line leaders with very good results.

Comments: This line is pretty good. I prefer similar micro-pitch braids that have soft coating, since they're even quieter through the guides, but these aren't very loud at least at the diameter I'm throwing (10lbs). I do a lot of finesse fishing, and this line works well for that, especially at this price. I fish it with 6lbs invizX leader. For 4 or 6lbs long casting braid, I like nano-fil, which casts super far and is very quiet through the guides. For some reason the higher weight nanofil isn't as supple, which lead me to this braid.

Comments: I read some reviews where people were saying the diameter wasn't even close to what Berkley published, but that wasn't true for my case. I am an avid precision reloader, and my micrometer is .0005" accurate. The 50lb braid measured 0.28mm which is very thin in my opinion for that weight class. I was able to get a lot more spooled onto my Metanium DC than regular 50lb braid. It seemed like good stuff but I just didn't love it. For the money you can't go wrong, though.

Comments: Nice Braid smooth cast very well and it holds up! Haven't had any issues with knots or sensitivity. I will definitely be buying more!

Comments: Not very sensitive. Have it spooled on 2 Powell flipping rods for bed fishing. I see the fish pick up a beaver style bait but never feel it in the line. No problems with breakage or stretch.
