Overview

Originally designed for tiger-fish in Zimbabwe, the Bill Lewis StutterStep has proven in early testing to be a phenomenal bass lure. Most impressive, the StutterStep offers up to three distinct topwater actions that aren’t exactly like anything we’ve seen before. This may be the beginning of a new topwater category.

Its namesake “stutter-step” action allows for the angler to make the bait walk on 90-degree cuts instead of the standard 45-degree walks that traditional walking baits get. Instead of the lure coming right to the angler, this allows for the lure to be “stutter-stepped” back and forth right next to targeted cover prolonging its hang-time over the strike zone.

Check out video of the Stutter-Step action.

The “wobble-wake” action is what happens when you reel a StutterStep over slick water, while using no rod action. It’s a slow-medium, buzz-bait style retrieve that leaves the ‘Step wobbling and waking across the surface.

Check out video of the Wobble-Wake action.

The “wag-the-tail” action is a cover-water-fast type retrieve. While steady reeling the StutterStep, the angler puts soft-rhythmic twitches on the rod make the lure’s tail kick side to side while the whole lure body shifts back and forth.

Check out video of the Wag-the-Tail action.

A revolutionary topwater bait available in a wide range of proven colors, the Bill Lewis Stutterstep is about to take the bass fishing world by storm.

Comments: so this bait is a beast. I bought this bait a few years back when it first hit the market, and all my friends thought it was a joke and I lowkey did too. It sat in a old box for like a long time without me ever using it. I just recently found it again so I tied it on, more or less as a joke and because i was bored. Bass were chasing bluegill and splashing on surface. This bait mimicks a blugill or baitfish thrashing on surface perfectly. I caught a 8lber right on the shore by just popping it and having it splash and then pause. have yet to catch a fish walking it. I would recommed changing hooks on it though, they aren't the sharpest and I have missed some good fish on it.

Comments: Much bigger lure than I was expecting.  Got the bone color and it's like I tied a moderately sized banana to my rod.  That being said it takes no effort or skill to walk in place and even has a good distinct wobble on a slow steady retrieve.  Yet to catch a fish on it (not the lure's fault) but I believe this is going to cull out the small ones and be a hog hunter.  Paint job is not the best and I expect it to get worse with use, but given the size of the bait and the fact the I believe more in profile/contrast than color in my top water walking baits I plan on breaking out the black spray-paint after all the bark comes off.  Full disclosure, I found one on clearance for about half price and can say this bait is not worth the $12-$13 full retail price tag.  If the paint was better and hooks already upgraded it may be, but if you're going to spend $12 on big topwater go for a Whopper Plopper 130.

Comments: This bait is insane. Ive never seen something so easy to fish and when I got in the mail I immediately took it down to the lake. I thought the violent splashes this thing puts out would more likely scare bass. Not joking about 10 minutes of casting I have a massive blowup and the fish ended up breaking my PB. The lure had been out of the package for 20 minutes and I broke my PB.

Comments: Very easy to create a great action. Game changer for me.

Comments: Great bait. Will walk in place with hard 90* turns and with a hard snap it will 180. Nice and heavy for long casts. With stout trebles im able to throw it on 65lb braid and i have total control of the bait. Perfect for throwing over beds and annoying big girls below. Highly recommend.

Comments: The stutter step has the greatest walking action in a top water bait I've ever seen, but the hook up ratio is awful. I've hooked like 30 fish on it- all good fish- none of them have gotten into the boat. Trash.

Comments: The action on this lure is great, the way its able to 180 and 360 its incredible. The only bad gripe I have on this lure is that the paint job is inconsistent as hell!!! I have 3 of these lures and 2 of them are starting to peal and i've only used them once. Still working on catching a decent bass with it.... maybe a good one for the striper!?

Comments: I never have had luck with top water but with the STUTTER STEP kill the bass this weekend buy it you will be happy you did

From: Robert: Coloma 8/7/17

Comments: Wasn't really sure what to expect when I bought this lure but it truly has the best walking action I've ever seen, I had this lure for one day and that night I ordered 2 more. Great topwater

From: Dominick 2/16/17

Comments: Great action. Cast a mile. Big lure. Bad paint job. If your good enough you can kill a bass by hitting it with this lure.

From: Lee: Cali 1/9/17

Comments: I used the Stutterstep this year and just slayed the largemouth and Smallies with it. It's the best walking bait on the market IMO. I can walk it side to side, can stop it and twitch it and make it turn 360* in place and walking it fast with fast twitches if the rod tip it'll go 180* all the way back to you. Just an amazing lure. I now own every color and the pro blue and black and red have been killer. Come 2017 il test out all the other colors.

Comments: Action is great, but the bait is quite large & can be a little tiring to work with how little it moves

From: Cole: KY 9/21/16

Comments: Darn good lure! One of my favorite topwaters. this thing will HAUL EM IN, and the big ones too. Crazy interesting action, great for high pressured waters. theyve never seen this before. Baby bass is great, kinda like a frog. Awesome!
