Goat statusI've never use a daiwa reel before but I bought a 200 just before this. Its amazing so I got this to see if it'll be good for a frog reel and it's butter smooth. I throw spro frogs in all sizes and this is just a swiss army knife.

Diawa Tatula CT Casting ReelI have had one of these reels for several fishing seasons and i love it. I haven't even oiled and cleaned it and it still works great! Decided I am going to finally clean and oil this winter before spring.

Awesome 100 size reelAlways fished Lews baitcasters (super duties, tournament mbs, etc. Wanted to try a Tatula after watching some content and the praise most guys heap on these models. At first I wasn't impressed but after fishing this reel a bunch its one of my favorites. It's certainly more temperamental than any lews I've fished but once dialed in its money. It's hands down my favorite late season, cold water reel. Solid solid reel with higher end performance and features.

Previous Feedback

Comments: My fishing buddy was getting more distance with his jerkbait than I was, and I noticed his reel was a Tatula CT. I wrestled it out of his grasp and tried it for a few casts. Dammit, now I have four of them. These are simply awesome reels, and make all my Shimano Curados, a Curado Super Free, a Calcutta and two Chronarchs available on the used market. BARGAIN!

From: Steve: 8/16/23

Comments: I purchased on of these solely because I wanted to try a Daiwa and compare it to my shimano reels. I have to say this reel surprised me. I may have gotten an oddball but this reel feels smoother than my SLX DC, my Curado, and my Scorpion DC. They all cast very very well but the retrieve on the tatula CT is unmatched! I even bought another tatula but this time the tatula SV and the CT retrieve still is undefeated! I have caught multiple 4lb bass and it handled them like a champ. This reel is the best reel at the $140 price point that you will find. The only complaint I have is that sometimes my hand will change the brake settings when I cast or set the hook but that is user error.

From: Jake: Algee 7/8/23

Comments: I've owned two Tatula CT's since they came out. I got one not long after they were released, and it was my first major upgrade from an entry-level combo. After a year, I purchased another. These reels pretty good for the price long-distance casts, external tuning for the mag brakes, solid components. My only gripe is that they start to get noisy after a while, especially on the retrieve. Bear in mind I have put these reels to the test, so the noise could be a result of heavy wear and tear. If you're someone who needs an absolute workhorse reel that will hold up indefinitely, I would spend the extra money for something with an extensive track record. However, if you're a casual angler, or just looking to step up from entry-level reels, give this reel a try, you won't be disappointed.

From: Evan: Lansing, Michigan 4/1/23

Comments: After using it for a few month now, this reel has become my favorite reel. Cast very quiet and very smooth. I love high speed reel. So this is perfect for me personally. Anocather reason i go with this reel is the price. It's very affordable and its performance like a very high end reel. I think I got like 5 of them that I would pair it with any new rod I get. I would recommend this reel and you will never regret on your purchase. I would buy some more for myself in the near future. Love this reel.

From: Sun: Ca 3/26/23

Comments: Love love this reel. I am very happy with my purchase. So far I've purchased 3 of these. Cast very smooth nice and quiet. Very light and comfortable on your hand. The performance is flawless. One of the best things about this reel is the price. Very affordable. I would purchase more when/if I am looking to purchase a reel again.

From: Brian: Ca 1/4/23

Comments: Silky smooth, rock solid drag, one of the best braking systems found in casting reels. T wing casts an absolute mile. The handle is a bit small as well as the knobs, if the knobs were a touch bigger and slightly longer handle, it would be dang near perfect.

From: Garrett: MO 12/23/22

Comments: Casts great, retrieves smooth, worth the price. For sure smoother than the $80.00 models.

From: Jeff: Wisconsin 10/28/22

Comments: I've been using these reels hard for several years and I've never been more satisfied. Best reel for those of us that don't want to spend big money! Easy to maintain you must clean and lubricant them.

From: Gary : Michigan 10/17/22

Comments: Outstanding reel. This is my second one of these and there will be a third. Casts smooth, reliable, and easy to adjust.

From: Jeremy: Rochester, IL 9/4/22

Comments: I have a few of them, For the money, you can't beat them. They are smooth, just the right size, and very good at skipping under docks.

From: Jere: Winchendon, MA 4/18/22

Comments: Great reel for a great price. Throws a mile and is easy to adjust.

From: Chuck: Unknown 2/18/22

Comments: Very nice reel. Casts great and very far. I had one issue with this reel. Somehow a spring came loose inside of the reel. It was a spring that just put pressure on the outside plate of the reel. So I just opened up the side of the reel, took out the spring(Cause it was damaged) and put the reel back together. I have had no issues since I fixed the reel and it works great. Couldn't be more happy.

From: Dylan: Minnesota 2/2/22

Comments: Just got it the brakes work great can cast without thumb on spool with no backlash it looks great too

From: Unknown: 1/18/22

Comments: This caster was bought for my son.it was very easy to set. It cast very smooth and you can get quite a bit of distance out of it also. Nice compact reel size fits small hands well. It's a daiwa so you know it is quality made. Great reel for the price!

From: Unknown: 1/13/22

Comments: This is an awesome real casts a country mile my son has caught alot of big fish on it and loves it his favorite reel.

From: Manuel : Madera, CA 1/1/22

Comments: I have been using Daiwa baitcasters since they hit the market here in the US and they still haven't disappointed me yet the CT is a workhorse

From: Jimmy: Parker, AZ 12/30/21

Comments: This is a high quality reel at a moderate price point. Various gear ratios to fit your fishing needs. Smooth operation for hours of fishing fun. Great reel I own over 15 of them (I bought them all)

From: Paul: Unknown 12/14/21

Comments: I am completely satisfied with the performance of my new Daiwa Tatula CT Casting Reel. Light yet sturdy enough to support each of the various angling techniques that I employ.

From: Unknown: Orlando, Fl 12/8/21

Comments: This is my first" semi"  high end reel and so far I am very impressed! Smooth as silk and casts a mile. So far I love it and it looks awesome on the Diana rod I have it paired with!

From: Mike: Perkins, OK 12/6/21

Comments: Only had it out twice so far but it's performed extremely well. I have it paired with a 6'10 MH cashion jerkbait/topwater rod and 12lb red label fluoro to pretty much exclusively throw a Vision 110 Jr. After I got it dialed in, I was really able to reach out and touch some schooling bass with it. Very pleased with the purchase.

From: Todd: Chattanooga, TN 11/4/21

Comments: Awesome reel and extremely smooth. Will buy more!

From: Trae: Unknown 10/30/21

Comments: Absolute workhorse reel. For the money, this is easily one of the better build and functioning reels available. Smooth drag, easy-to-use brake system and super smooth/quiet casts. Made the switch from other brands and will not be going back.

From: Justin: Vermont 10/21/21

Comments: This thing is flat-out awesome so far. I have a fair amount of high end reels from a competing brand and for $129.99, this thing outperforms them in many ways. The overall size takes some getting used to but well worth it.

From: Parker: Greenville, MS 10/8/21

Comments: Smooth casting reel caught a 3 pounder my first time using it. I love how smooth it feels when reeling

From: Gerald: Lake Charles, LA 10/1/21

Comments: For one day it worked great and was smooth. Second day after about 5 casts it would no longer real in. I own other Diawa reals never had a problem. These things can happen to all brands. Tackle ware house customer service was fantastic, followed up my email within minutes even on a Sunday.

From: Brian: Unknown 9/30/21

Comments: I love this reel. I use it as my weightless setup. Works awesome. No backlash and just puts in work. I just ordered a 200 for my frog rod.

From: Joe: Ruther Glen, VA 9/25/21

Comments: Great reel for the price! Casts like a Dream and can Handle the big ones with ease!

From: Jay: Unknown 9/15/21

Comments: I currently own 3 of these and are a solid reel for the money. Cast farther than other reels i own in the same dollar range. I use mine for shallow crankbaits with 12-14lb flouro and I like the smaller profile.

From: Scott: MS 9/9/21

Comments: I use this reel for small and light crank baits and weightless baits. The ease to get these under docks and tree limbs is impressive. Definitely recommend.

From: Brian: Modesto, CA 9/5/21

Comments: I bought one at the end of last year to use in 2021 and its gotten a little worse as the seasons gone on. just some pond fishing, and the reel has developed a less than smooth grinding sound. culminating into a horrid sound when i went to cast. took it apart, cleaned it, seemed ok, but is already starting to act up again. i just purchased a higher end tatula, but i may have to replace my ct with a different brand, or just another higher end daiwa.

From: Mario:Unknown 9/7/21

Comments: Bought one after trying my fishing buddy's. It casts a jerkbait noticeably farther than my Curados and Chronarchs. So now, I've bought three Tatula CT's and think they're one of the best bargains on the market.

From: Unknown: 9/3/21

Comments: Great reel for the price point, I have many high end reels of Daiwa Tatula and was compairing it to the Ct reel it has the features I like, smooth drag for fighting big bass and line capacity with specific weight use.

From: Terry: San Fransisco 9/1/21

Comments: Great reel so far, only used 80lb braid and a frog on it but it feels durable and it cast quite far with ease.

From: Unknown: 8/21/21

Comments: Daiwa reels are the best. And this reel is a great reel. Cast are effortless. It has a very smooth drag. Well built to last for years of fishing.

From: Clint: Sam Rayburn, TX 8/14/21

Comments: For the money, one of the smoothest casting reels on the market. I have 4 tatula's and ALL are amazing! Second time using with it I caught 3 bass and also including a 20-plus pound carp (total surprise). The reel is damn tuff I will definitely continue to use and buy tatula reels

From: Kyle: San Diego, CA 8/4/21

Comments: My home lakes are void of pads and grass but I wanted to learn to fish this kind of cover without spending a lot of money. I bought one for frogging and one for punching and flipping. The quality, castability and performance of these reels is superb. Definitely exceeds my expectations for the price I paid.

From: Brian: Stony Point, NC 7/26/21

Comments: Love the smooth action and sleek light weight design. Daiwa Tatula CT is definitely one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

From: Unknown: 7/26/21

Comments: Awesome little reel.  This is my 4th Tatula CT, but first of the newer version.  They are smooth and durable.  The only issue with this new one is the handle knobs are TINY.  I switched out the handle for one of the older tatula handles. If you like small handle knobs it won't be an issue, but if you have larger hands like myself you may want to look at a different reel.

From: Matt: Florence, OR 7/25/21

Comments: One of the smoothest reels I have ever used, great quality and easy to use

From: Will: Kentucky 7/18/21

Comments: I fished for 1 day with this reel and ordered another when I got home. Daiwa makes quality stuff that is no secret. Best money I've spent in years.

From: Davey: Ontario, Canada 7/14/21

Comments: Best reel at this price point. I have 4 of these and it made me hate my others reels.

From: Wally: Massachusetts 7/15/21

Comments: Bought this reel to replace some old Daiwas! This thing is sweet and you can't beat it for this price.

From: Unknown: Tuscon, AZ 7/8/21

Comments: This thing is great. Super easy. All the bells, but not the price. Probably buying another to match a another veritas.

From: Joshua: Washington 7/7/21

Comments: This was my first Daiwa reel and I absolutely love it. Smooth casts and easy to spoon. I will definitely be buying another soon!

From: Matt: Durant, Oklahoma 7/4/21

Comments: This is a great reel. Smooth, cast great, easy to palm, has a good drag and the braking system is first class and easy to adjust. I have 4 of them. The only gripe that I have with this reel it has the t-wing system on it, and if you tie on a leader on your main line, the knots will catch on the t-wing. Of course that all can change according to how long the leader is and how heavy the line is you are using. I just adjust my leader length so the knot doesn't wind through the t-wing and it works great. Good little reel, buy it you won't be disappointed!!!

From: Jeff: Illinois 6/25/21

Comments: Super smooth reel. These daiwa's just as good as and cast better than most of my shimanos's. I have three of these I use them alot and love them!

From: Thomas: Blooomfield, IN

Comments: The reel is sitting empty of line begging to be spooled up, waiting for the moment of a solid hook set into a set of energy filled and mad bull red or gator trout.
Master jig slinging hook setting lee
The best hidden inshore secret

From: Unknown: 6/14/21

Comments: I've got the older style of SV's. CT's and even a Fuego or two but this new CT is butter smooth. This really reminds me of the older SV reels where you set it and forget it. I've thrown 1/8oz Texas rigged senko's on mine for over a year now and haven't had to touch the brakes with the exception of throwing into some heavy winds. This reel is by far the best one at its price point. If you're debating on this or another at the same price, go with the CT, you won't be disappointed.

From: Brandon: Louisiana 6/14/21

Comments: My new Daiwa Tatula reel performs as I expected as it is the quality product that I have come to know.

From: Unknown: 6/14/21

Comments: I have 2 SV's, 6 older CT's, and 2 of the new CT's.  All great reels but the new CT is ultra smooth.  I done think you will find a better reel eslecially at the pricepoint.

From: Eric: Quincy, IL 6/5/21

Comments: I have 2 of these reels, one older gen and a current gen. Both are great reels for the price that I highly recommend. Easy set up and unless you're casting a potato chip into the wind it rarely if ever backlashes. Only complaint on the new gen is that palming the reel sometimes causes the brakes to back off but I just check it every few casts, no problem

From: Mark: Upstate New York 6/2/21

Comments: I got these reel in december but it was the old gen 8:1:1 and i its such a good reel smooth and i run 20# pline flouroclear and it holds the right amount of line and over all a really good reel it took some time to dial it in but once i got it its perfect someone said it has a zero adjust no it does not you still need to dial it in

From: Joshua: Vernon Hill, IL 5/25/21

Comments: A friend suggested I give the Tatula CT a try. Have found it to be smooth both in casting and the drag. Mostly handled a few big reds and some trouts so far and it has held up well. Casting is also a plus with fewer overruns and no backlashing.

From: Douglas: Biloxi, MS 5/19/21

Comments: first off I want to say that this is my second Daiwa casting reel. I have the older Gen CT and this Gen CT. This reel cast very smoothly and very well with minimal effort or thumbing. The reel is very easy to adjust and will cast amazingly. Remember not to touch the zero adjust knob. The I have used the reel for everything and it works great. The only thing I would advise is if you are using a braid to leader knot, the Uni-to-Uni knot can get caught in the TWS. I highly recommend the FG knot or something of similar profile. I would rate this reel a solid 8.5/10 at this price point.

From: Chen: Colorado 5/18/21

Comments: I purchased this reel because I got a Tatula Elite last year that I love. I bought this hoping I'd have the same luck, but this reel came noisy as heck out of the box, and doesn't cast near as far as a new reel should. I used it for an entire day fishing trying to get it dialed in also. May have gotten a defective reel, but I was very disappointed with how this reel performed.

From: Scott: Michigan 5/9/21

Comments: Very smooth so far would definitely recommend

From: Chris: Connecticut 5/9/21

Comments: Best reel for the money hands down, smooth, fast retrieve, highly recommend.

From: Unknown: 5/5/21

Comments: This is my first Daiwa baitcaster, and I'm very happy with it so far. I put it on a St. Croix Legend Glass 7'4" MH as a dedicated crankbait reel, spooled with 12 lb Sunline crank FC. I was intrigued by the T-wing system when I first saw it years back and decided it was finally time to try it. There's no question that it makes a difference in casting. Generally I feel like I can set brakes lower than I would on other reels and not have to thumb it quite so attentively. The difference lengthwise is not huge, but it is noticeable, maybe picking up another 20 feet or so compared to reels without and roughly the same braking power. I've caught many fish on it already and it handles them well, great drag and is smooth to reel under load. For the price, it has been a great value for me, and I highly recommend it. They could probably get away with charging more for it, but I'm not sure how it compares to say, the 100, as I haven't fished it. I don't think I need to. On paper the only big difference seems to be that the 100 is lighter. My verdict: get this reel if you need something to chuck and wind with all day. It's more pleasant to do so with than most other reels I have fished.

From: Ralph: Richmond, KY 4/30/21

Comments: Great reel light weight and easy to set up!

From: Unknown: Amarillo, TX 4/21/21

Comments: I  recently ordered 10 Daiwa Tatula CT Casting Reels. Unfortunately, these reels are not ideal for the ambidextrous angler. These reels are perfect for a right hand cast. Using these reels to cast with the left hand will cause the brake adjustment to spin. only flaw with them, but it continues to be a problem the longer you use them.

From: Russell: 4/19/21

Comments: My first bait caster reel so I can't make any comparisons but it's a solidly built reel and no issues. Brakes work well and everything about it seems very smooth. Once dialed in, the only back lashes have been due to me forgetting I'm casting a casting reel and not my more familiar spinning reels.

From: Unknown 4/16/21

Comments:
I used to use Shimano.  I bought a Daiwa reel for the first time in a long time.  Great cost performance!  You can use it as the main reel.

From: TAKUYA: KAMEYAMA MIE, JAPAN 3/5/21

Comments: Great casting reel over all easy to use only down fall is it's not the best to flip with.

From: Unknown: 1/14/21

Comments: I own 10 CT's but this is the first I've bought of the latest model. It's very smooth casting and I get more distance out of all of my ct's than any other reel I've owned. It's very affordable and I won't be buying any other brand.

From: Danny: Sacramento, CA 11/13/20

Comments: It is the smoothest reel ive ever used and it retrieves baits like a champ. The best reel for the money so far

From: Unknown: 10/30/20

Comments: I started bass fishing in July, 2020. Started with spinning reels and then tried a couple of Kast king baitcasters ($45 range). Struggled with these as a newbie to bait casting so I returned them to Amazon. Then bought 2 of these Daiwa Tatula CT casting reels and only had several birds nests before getting it down. Now its rare that I have a tangle and Ive only used them about 4-5 fishing trips so far. Set up was easy, especially for me being a beginner, with adjustments for my different baits being simple and fast as well. Liked them so much, I just bought a third one today with the faster retrieve for a new set up and rod. I definitely recommend these.
