Jacob Wheeler duckett rodGreat quality rod, I have a 7'3 heavy and it is a great frog rod.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I have the 7'3" MH moderate fast crankbait rod and I really like it. I want another one when I have the money for it. Just had a 26" northern pike on the line and no problems. This is my second season with this rod.

From: Michael: WI 5/26/23

Comments: I have two Jacob Wheeler baitcaster rods purchased from TW. A 7'3 heavy that came with the reel seat glued on crooked that I decided to not go through the hassle of returning because it didn't appear to affect the performance of the rod and a 7'2 composite that I got a couple of months ago that has a dinged up guide. That rod has not been used yet because of ice on the lakes up here in Minnesota. I was putting a reel on the rod when I noticed the guide. I really like Jacob Wheeler rods but now it's two rods-two issues before even using. Disappointing.

From: Unknown: 3/5/23

Comments: The 7'2" Composite is a fantastic shallow crankbait rod. the action and parabolic bend allows fish to get the hooks good. When a fish bites the rod loads so good you just reel and lean into the fish. When you get a bite right at the boat they almost always stay pinned. Super stout and durable. I have thrown this almost all day since december fishing grass and wood.

From: Roger: Helena, AL 1/19/23

Comments: The Jacob Wheeler medium action rod is best rod I've ever owned. Its light and can get bait way up under boat houses.I own four of them now and just bought one as a gift for fishing friend of mine. I have been fishing since i was old enough to walk. I'm 79 now and still love it.

From: Wayne: Tyler, TX 9/1/22

Comments: 7'3MH review. SO I bought this rod to try out for bladed Jigs. I also own the 7'3 Triad and Silverado both MH. And my honest opinion. All three of these rod blanks preform the same. The only thing your paying for is small guides w/o inserts, or mirco guides with inserts as well as slight handle length differences as as well color. The actual blanks preform and flex the same under load/bend testing off the water, and as well as on the action and fish fighting capability. So all of that being said, the 7'3 MH Triad, J.W. and Silverado rods are simply a color choice. Not a variation of performance over another. And I spent my money time and effort to learn that fact. So I want to extend the courtesy to the next fellow Angler that doesn't have to go through it.

From: Unknown: 8/23/21

Comments: DING!  My new favorite rod!  Not my best.  Not my best Duckett even.   All Purpose All Around Stud!  I got this for topwater walkers.  I waited a month before tying a topwater on.  Been throwing swimbaits for a month.   Now, super spook jr's = launching bombs.   I need another one soon.  Nice rod Duckett and JDub!

From: Tomegun: Oregon 5/14/21

Comments: Got the 7'3 medium-heavy and was really impressed with the sensitivity of it. Wonder about the durability though. I've had the wrong for less than a year and already broke two guides. I use rod socks 100% of the time too.

From: Unknown: Ohio 4/1/21

Comments: I thought when I received the 7'-3 Med-Heavy, it would have to fast of a tip. Man, what a rod! First bass I caught was a 5-5 and all the bass had to do was breed on my jig and I felt it. So, Glad I bought 2. With a little faster tip allows to cast a spinner bait and Vibrating jig a country mile. 5 star rod.

From: Ken R: California 1/24/21

Comments: I never write reviews, this is a rod that needs it.I have a 7,3 medium heavy and it is the most versatile rod I own. I have not had an issue with these rods at all even though Duckett has a bad name for breaking.Amazing rod 10/10, if you are wondering if you should buy this over Loomis or Dobyns (I have both) I will be buying many more of these.

From: John Rick: Indiana 11/8/20

Comments:I currently own 5 of these rods, all M/H, the sensitivity and reliability is amazing.I fish the Colorado River and have to bounce off rocks and under cover to catch bass in the hot summer.I can feel the baits skip over the rocks and every little strike. It loads up on the set and is well worth the price.Easily pulled a 7lb large mouth out from under a tree and against the river current.Great job Duckett!

From: Scott - Blythe, CA 10/13/20

Comments:I own the entire lineup of JWheels rods. These rods made me buy other Duckett rods. They are so so sensitive it is unreal. The skeleton reel seat definitely contributes to the sensitivity and it is more sensitive than some of my ultra high end rods. There are some with true fast actions and others with very parabolic actions. They are all very light and the EVA foam is very comfortable. If you are looking for a high performance, great value, and no frills, this is the rod you need to get.

From: Shawn: Chicago, IL 7/26/20

Comments: My first JW Series rod was the 7'3 MH. Before I got this rod I'd probably put 100 hours of fishing jigs and chatterbaits in and I really don't think I'd ever caught a fish on either of those techniques. That TOTALLY changed when I started using the JW 7'3 MH. The sensitivity on this rod is incredible. It takes some getting used to because there is something "floaty" about how well the rod is balanced, but once you get used to having it in your hand, I swear I feel like I know when fish are even lookin at the bait, let alone grabbing it. The MH loads incredibly well and has an awesome parabolic action to it for a fast tipped rod. Casts like a freakin' lazer. Seriously my favorite fishing item I own is this rod. It is great for just about any technique imaginable, but the sensitivity has really let me start fishing both jigs and chatterbaits with way more confidence, so I usually keep it locked on those two techniques. Just received the composite cranking rod. This is only my second composite rod, I am seriously impressed. Rod has a ridiculous parabolic bend to it and flings light crankbaits extremely well. My favorite part is that compared to my previous composite rod, the blank on this thing is seriously thick so you actually get some backbone to it. Just like the 7'3 MH, the crankin rod is tremendously well balanced.

From: John 7/1/20

Comments:Great rods for the money! I have three and I am very pleased. They have a average tip and can be used for many purposes. For 139 you can't beat them. Extremely lite in the hand.

From: Ethan: Texas 6/4/20

Comments:Feels clunky and the paint is already starting to chip. Terrible rod.

From: Matt: Illinois 6/7/20

Comments: 7'3" Heavy: This is my favorite rod overall. The mod-fast action combined with a fairly flexible tip and solid backbone mean that this rod casts anything from 1/8th oz weighted texas rigs to fairly heavy jigs quite far AND accurately, so it is my favorite rod for pitching plastics and jigs into tight cover. The rod is very light and sensitive (compared to my other fairly inexpensive rods- I have almost no experience with high-dollar gear that I can't afford), and has withstood more than a few bumps and scrapes while hiking through dense woods, all with only a couple scratches in the outer wrap. Overall, this rod has performed excellently for me, and it makes me quite hesitant to use any other rod for lures between about 1/4oz and 1oz. 10/10, I will buy more of this series in the future.

From: Andrew: Texas 6/13/20

Comments: I also have a Duckett Silverado, and when this arrived at first I was super disappointed. When I first grabbed it it felt like a repainted Silverado.

Boy was I wrong. This thing is leaps and bounds above the Silverado both in terms of castability and in terms of sensitivity. I have the 7'2 Medium Heavy rod paired up with a Curado DC and my accuracy is significantly better with this rod than with my Silverado or any of my Dobyn's Fury rods. Honestly they could price this thing at $220 and it would probably still be reasonable.

From: John - Chapel Hill 5/19/20

Comments: Most sensitive rod I've ever used. Best rod on the market in that price point. Will be buying more

From: Jon: Harriston, Ontario, Canada 4/17/20

Comments:Have the 6'8 medium Pro Series and the new 6'10 medium J.Wheeler. Easily my new favorite rods. Super light. Great parabolic action. Best reel seat design on the market. Super comfortable. Compares to any $300+ rod I've ever used.

From: Corey: Waynesboro 3/26/20

Comments:Rod broke 1st time using it. Never buying one again.

From: Unknown: 3/17/20

Comments:The Duckett Jacob Wheeler rods are amazing. They are so sensitive, light, and well balanced. The value and sensitivity you get with this rod is unmatched. I own a G Loomis, 13 Fishing, Exprides, Arks, Dobyns and I continue to reach for my Duckett. I really think it's the simplistic split reel seat which has the entire blank open to your hand. It's not a custom grip or anything but having that open blank design is really key. Another key is the missing foregrip. There is no buffer between your hand and the blank. The reelseat and grip is very comfortable. Compared to my other rods, this looks like a more simple design but the money was spent where it counts. Do yourself a favor and buy one.

From: Shawn L: Chicago, IL 3/8/20

Comments:I purchased the 7'3" Heavy. I knew from other reviews that the action on the Heavy was a little on the lighter side and that was exactly what I was looking for. This rod loads very parabolic and is in my opinion an ideal jig rod. I was surprised how well the rod skips 3/8 ounce jigs. I was also surprised how well the rod handles larger jigs in the 3/4 ounce range. I would highly recommend this rod and will be replacing a few of my other rods with these in the near future.

From: Shane: Little Rock, AR 12/14/19

Comments:I have 6 Terex rods (discontinued now) that I love so I had to try the new Jacob Wheeler! Got it in a 7'6 heavy! WOW what a rod! You'd never guess the strength with the lightweight/ sensitivity of this rod! Way to go Duckett!

From: Terry: Emory, TX 10/24/19

Comments:These rods are the bomb. Love the actions and the sensitivity of a $400 rod. What more can you ask for.

From:Nathan: 8/20/19

Comments:These rods are awesome and the actions are spot on. They are lighter and just as sensitive as my $300+ dollar rods. These rods rival the White Ice series. Can't say enough good things about this series of rods.

From:Nate: 8/2/19

Comments:Bought a the 7' med hvy and the 7'3" heavy when they first were released at academy. I own dobyns Sierra series as well . These are hands down my favorite rods. They load like a dream, are super sensitive and the eyes are a big improvement from other Duckett rods. No rod can compare at this price point I believe!

From:Mike: LA 8/2/19

Comments:You will love these rods. They are the bomb, actions are spot on with the sensitivity of a $400 rod. What more can you ask for. They hit it out of the park on this series.
