Comments: I'm a kayak fisherman in the Seattle area, and our waters are deadly cold in winter so I won't have a chance to fish this rod until spring but I will update my review after I've had some time on the water. Decent angler/beginner to bass fishing/blue collar budget. This is the nicest spinning rod I've ever touched, it's a properly rated medium bass rod with an extra fast tip that can throw true ultra-light trout rod type baits. ...build quality is sublime, balances very well on a reel around 8-9 oz, high-end fuji reel seat and guides, really cool looking Kanji logo on the butt, looks like an old vintage wax seal you would see on japanese commercial goods, nice aesthetics. I do care about design aesthetics and generally don't buy loud or gaudy gear, so I was skeptical of the camo grips but in real life they actually look pretty slick. This rod screams "high-end", is super light and feels comfortable in hand. I bought it for the lure rating specifically (1/32 to 3/8oz) as it fits a niche you just don't see in full-size American rods. Intend to use it for multi-species freshwater finesse tactics (including light floating insect topwaters like the Gizmo) bass popper flies, hellgies, neds, floating worms, Ikas & Senkos, etc etc. I think this rod will kill at the sunset stage where there is still light out but the water is dark and every type of fish in the lake is hitting insects on the surface and ignoring everything else you throw out. I am so excited to fish this rod... Will update after I had some proper hooksets etc but I'm pretty confident this rod is going to fish like a dream.
