Comments: I am not impressed. I bought my original Soleus XCS 3 years ago. 1 year later I returned it due to corrosion issues under the finish/paint. Occasionally I would have an issue with the reel locking up when I'd try to start my retrieve. I sent the reel in for warranty and Favorite sent a new reel. The company's customer service is great but their reel has issues. The new reel I was sent also locks up. The more I use it the more it locks up. I finally took it off my rod this weekend. Favorites rods are probably outstanding, but if you think your going to get a great real buying the Soleus XCS I'd tell you to look elsewhere.

Comments: I've had this reel for a while now. It's a great reel it casts about 60 yards it definitely outcasts DC reels. It's super light too. It's definitely better than a shimano curado k or dc. And it has a lifetime warranty! I love this reel! I would definitely buy again!

Comments: First let me say that Favorites customer service is outstanding. My original XCS had an issue with corrosion under the finish and a week and a half after returning the reel I had a brand new reel sitting on my door step when I got home. Now let me get down to the meat of this review. I've never had the issues of grinding and noise with my reel. The new reel was in need of being lubed as it came pretty dry that was also the case with the old reel. The ceramic bearings do make more noise during break in and I suggest having a good reel man take them out and clean any ceramic residue. After break in the ceramic bearings make just slightly more noise than standard bearings. For the price point it is a decent reel. If I had to totally decide to buy one again based on customer service I'd have to say absolutely. However, the jury is still out on reliability.

Comments: Terrible absolutely terrbile. after maybe 10 fish reep started making a terrbile noise like a chainsaw. I've come to the conclusion that Favorite is a terrible brand and would recommend never clicking on a favorite product.

Comments: My wife bought me one and it started making a grinding sound when retrieving. They sent a new replacement and the line guide doesn't work. Favorite has great customer service and will make it right. Again.

Comments: I got this reel for Christmas of this year and it was a pretty nice reel for about 2-3 months and after only catching probably 50 fish on it it started to make a terrible sound when reeling. It has gotten so bad that barely reeling it sounds like a high pitched chainsaw running and when you burn your baits it sounds like it's about to explode. Do not recommend.

Comments: I purchased this reel to try with a favorite rod to see what the hype was about. For the price of $180.00 I was expecting a reel that fit the price tag.. I will start with the pros: lightweight, comfortable large handle and knobs, strong centrifugal brakes, lightweight spool, nice copy of the lews line memory dial (I think every mfg should have this), nice ceramic brakes on the spool, strong drag, and nice hook keeper under the line guide. The cons: the body might be aluminum but the side plates and accents seem to be plastic? It feels a little cheap in the hand for $180.00. The underside and edges of the side plates are also sharp and pointy. I like to dig my fingers into the underside of my reels sometimes to get a better grip and it is really uncomfortable with this reel. It is also a pretty large reel, albeit low profile, it still feels much larger than a 100 size reel. It is not quite a 150 but also far from a 100. The retrieve is not smooth at all when compared to a entry level shimano, daiwa, 13 fishing, or even a kast king. You definitely hear the ceramic bearings but that can be helped with a drop of lube depending on if you want to run them dry or not. Overall would I buy it again? No.i can buy spool speed bearings and swap them myself. So deduct that from the cost and I don't see a $150 reel remaining.

Comments: Wow amazing reel! It cast a mile and its smooth and light! I use every brand and some high end reel like the abu mgx extreme and the soleus xcs perform very well for the price point. Its pair perfectly with my abu fantasista premier!

Comments: Casts a mile, but after a few fish it started getting rough feeling and had a deep grinding sound inside, but other than that it is nice.
