Comments: I have this reel in the 2000 series spooled up with 15lb Sufix 832 and 10lb leader paired with MojoBass 68MEF At the time I had caught plenty of bass with this combo but never really hooked into anything that would test this reels ability but recently I fished a bass tournament in Northern Wisconsin and I was tossing a wacky off a weed edge and hooked into a giant Muskie. The drag handled beautifully it allowed to big fish to make its runs and I was able to net it before stressing it too much… Fishing for big 5-6lb smallmouth with money on the line a reel with good drag is critical, but I simply can’t afford 5-6 high end shimanos or daiwas, I have a few of those but this reel handled itself. I hope this helps.

Comments: I switched over from the Abu Garcia Revo X, which was around the same price range, and it exceeded my expectations! I use the T2000 for all my finesse, lighter crank/spinner baits and this reel has held up exceptionally well! Definitely better than Abu that's for sure!

Comments: I bought several of these reels and have fished with them for over a year now. If all goes well, they are not a bad reel, HOWEVER there is one major issue with this specific model and unfortunately this point needs to be made. If you are eliminating the slack in your line immediately after you cast and verify the line is spooling correctly, you can go on fishing. BUT we all lose focus and at some point the line could end up winding onto the spindle underneath the spool. This wasn't limited to one reel and at least twice a trip I have to remove the drag cap, pull off the spool and unwind the line off the spindle, hoping I caught it the first time. Usually the line gets a nick or has a smashed area and I have to pull it off the spool and retie, resulting in using more line or if I miss the damage, setting the hook and breaking about 10 yds off, losing a fish and lure.

Comments: I'm surprised reading the negative reviews. I've had a 2000 for 3 years and it's a tank. Never had an issue and it's totally mechanically sound. There must have been a bad batch. My only knock is it's on the heavy side, but for me, it's been very dependable.

Comments: Lew's baitcasters are all i use. Replaced Shimano spinning reels with seven of these(3000's). Completely unimpressed and disappointed. Not smooth, heavy, and poorly designed. Had to remove spool more times in 2 fishing trips than previous fishing career of 40 years to remove line from around the shaft. Doesn't cast well either. Once again poor engineering.

Comments: I love Lews but I'm nearing the end of giving them chances on spinning reels . I've got a 2000 and 4 3000's. The 2000 bail jammed the first days I used it . The 3000's feel like the gears grind and its not smooth and sounds awful. Pretty bummed, thought one was a fluke but seems to be consistent with this model

From: Nick: Peoria, AZ 3/31/22

Comments: Let me start by saying I am a big fan of lews baitcasters. They are basically all that I use. When it comes to spinning reels I go another direction now. Each year or two lews releases their new flagship spinning reel. Im a sucker so I buy it thinking they figured out how to make a great spinning reel. Nope. Gears are not smooth in this reel and Ive had 2 of them and the handle requires more torque to turn than it should. Drag is decent not great but thats about it. Just doesnt have that smooth feeling I am used to with my Daiwa spinning reels.

From: Unknown: Burlington, NC 8/27/21

Comments: This is the best spinning reel on the market. A few months ago i purchased the 2000 size reel as a ned rig and drop shot reel. it turns out it throws these baits plus many others flawlessly highly recommended.

From: Rj: Monee, IL 4/13/21

Comments: Just purchased two 3000 reels i out of every 5 times the bail would jam and not open, first time purchasing this reel and am disappointed.

From: Ricky: Richmond, MA 2/6/21

Comments: I cannot say enough good things about this reel. Lightweight, super smooth drag, casts finesse baits a mile if you want it to. Lew's makes some of the best reels on the market and they did not miss the mark with the Custom Pro. Tight lines!

From: Mike: Ohio 12/21/20

Comments: One of my favorite reels! Super smooth and great control. Have a solid yr with it and no issues at all. I'm a casting reel guy and this reel switched me over and I have two of them now. Opened up a new page for me and will swear by them.

From: Noah: Lebanon 7/8/20

Comments: I just bought this reel last week for my swim baits Ned rigs and so on it by far my favorite reel I own now. So good I just bought another one 2,000 models, its so smooth and easy too use, cast is unbelievable drag is spot on and its both fresh and saltwater ready. 8 out of 10 and by far my favorite reel I own

From: Edgar: Havertown 7/6/20

Comments: I used this reel one time. It was in a down pour. About 2 hours into the day. If felt like I was reeling in a 5 lb anchor and had a loud sound. I inspected the pole nothing there I inspected the spool nothing wrong there. I pulled the rubber plug out of the side of the reel. The water poured out of the reel. I put it down for the day. I repair reels on the side. So when I got home I tore the reel apart. There was so much grease in this reel I was shocked. I cleaned all the grease out of the reel. Put it in my ultrasonic cleaner. Regressed it (lightly) with hot sauce. Reel still sounds like it has gravel in it and is just a stiff as it was after 2 hour of use. First and last Lews reel I will buy.

From: Andy: Ohio 5/20/20

Comments: Im only 14 so spending a 130 dollars on a reel was a big step but I will say I am glad I did. I have fished shimano stradic CI4+s and so I know what good drag is and let me tell you this reel is 100 dollars less and is just as sooth to reel and has just as good of a drag system, so if you're looking for a phenomenal reel that doesn't break the bank this is it.

From: Trenton: Pennsylvania 3/28/20

Comments: absolutely love this reel, paired it up with a st croix premier 7 foot medium fast for fishing ned rigs, drop shots, wacky rigs, you know finesse fishing lol. super smooth drag i got mine in the 3000 series lews has produced another amazing budget reel

From: Damon: 6/29/19

Comments: just picked one up today in the 3000 size, this thing is soooo smooth i havent got to fish with it really but for a few minutes, im mainly a baitcaster guy but this thing definitely feels solid and you cant go wrong with lews.
