Overview

The Lunker City Slug-Go is precision balanced to produce the erratic, injured prey action that draws instinctive strikes from all predatory fish. Big fish are triggered by the image of injured prey that Slug-Go projects.

Herb Reed's Original Slug-Go will wet the appetite of gamefish of all sizes, from bass to musky, skipjack to tarpon. Choose from a selection of colors that ranges from ultra-natural imitations of a wide assortment of baitfish to high-visibility colors that ensure both you and the fish know where your lure is at all times.

Comments: Without a doubt, still the most versatile soft bait in the world. Take a 3" pack and a 4-1/2" pack and all your techniques with you. By that I mean grab your drop shot rig, your ned and neko rigs, a small jig head, and a #2 hook with you and that's it! You will catch more fish than anyone. How do I know? In 60 years of fishing, I have tried over 100 soft baits,(yes, I'm a junkie), and these 30 year old original stick baits are so versatile and durable, you need not take any other soft bait with you. The killer is a 4-1/2" baby bass color on a drop shot. I have caught over 12 fish on a single Sluggo and still it looks good. I use the 3" on a Lunker City yellow ned rig with a 1/8 ounce. The Lunker city ned heads stand up perfectly, the other's don't, unless your using a z-man type of plastic that floats. On the drop shot, I use anywhere between a 3/16 and 1/4 ounce drop shot weight with a 6th sense drop shot hook. I'll actually jig it more than swim it. My 2 largest bass I have caught were a 10 and 12 pounder on a 6" sluggo dead sticking it. It was a pumpkin color Sluggo. I am so happy this company did not change anything in 30 years.

Comments: I've been using sluggo's over 30 years, since the late 80's, when the lure first came out in CT. This lure catches Big fish and is always tied on one of my rods. My favorite color is Rainbow trout, I feel that pink flash draws strikes. Whenever I take a friend fishing I put one on their rod, they always catch Bass, There's really no wrong way to fish them, this lure is realistic, snag proof and puts fish in the boat, if your not using it, you are really missing out on one of the greatest Bass lures of all time. Try some you will not be sorry

Comments: I didn't buy the ones that I have, but was given them by a guy that was getting rid of some "junk tackle".... I've had them a while, but never bothered with them until a couple weeks ago when I stuck one on a jig just messing around in the shop... I thought that it looked great, decided to try it and it has really really been producing for me. I haven't tried it any other way yet, but bite about a half inch off and thread it into a jig and give it a try.

Comments: I have been using the 4 1/2 inch Slug-Go for maybe 30 years now, and I don't feel comfortable unless I have at least 25 packs in stock at home. You can fish this lure weightless. You can fish it with a small tungsten nail weight in the head. I also thread it on a Keitech tungsten jig head sometimes. So there are lots of ways to use these soft plastic bodies. I love straight-tailed baits because you can fish them slower and more naturally which I feel is key to fishing our pressured lakes. Plus, none of the baits are bent and are packaged well. Its a great lure that is just as effective as say a Senko or even a Ned rig. You just have to know how to use spinning tackle which I feel is lacking these days. Using light lines and backreeling is a lost art.

Comments: I love the CLASSIC slugo. Came out in the 80s I was a teen, now I'm 50 and they still catch bass just as easy as then. These were senkos before senkos were even a thought. Grab a couple bags, promise you'll get hit, and stripers freaking love these!

From: Dean: Las Vegas, NV 2/19/20

Comments: The Slug-Go is past it's prime. Flukes & Stick baits must be better now & all the pro's use em. If you want to give your local bass a history lesson, cast this bait. Can't fish it wrong. True Gem. Throw the big one cause it's not too big. Don't be afraid of Pink either. Catch Bigger and Better Bass.

From: Jeff - Florida 9/14/18

Comments: These are classic and the best of their kind! I'd take these over senkos ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! There's times (like now) when bass are in warm water and active like dog days but won't eat a frog or bottom bait everyone and their brother throwing frogs and flipping creatures and something like a slug go is so effective when those bites go away and the fish wants a mellower bait. Thats just one example. Basically they Rock!

Comments: Hey all. These are great lures. They were just hitting the shelves at K-mart in 1985 or so and I couldn't resist trying them. I was about 17 years of age at the time and this lure not only caught me lots of bass back then, it also kept me from getting into trouble being it kept me interested in fishing. I highly recommend these and they are especially good to help train someone to fish. Make sure to rig them exactly right so you get the most potential from them. The instructions come with each package of them and it's important to rig them with proper size hook. I used to use the Texposer hooks but I suppose any type of proper size/gap would be fine. Good luck.

Comments: After all  these years I have become re-acquainted with these baits & so glad I gave em' a chance once again. I have only been using the 3" version & have had great success on the smaller pressured lakes that I fish. I throw the 3" version on 4lb test with an UL spinning combo; what a blast I am having with these baits. Just because it's such a small bait does not mean that you will only catch small bass though; I have caught several in the 3-4 lb range. I was using the 4" super flukes for a while but just wasn't happy with the action or the results so I decided to buy a few of these; know one around here throws Slug-Gos any longer so it's like I am fishing a brand new bait and the bass are certainly cooperating. I only fish these weightless. The only issue is that there are so many great patterns/colors available and TW only carries 3 in the 3" size.

Comments: I weight them with a lead nail and have used the screw in type weighted hooks, The best hook I have found lately is the weighted hook from Falcon lures. The beveled edges on the lead allows you to run the hook and weight through the nose without tearing up the bait. Every manufacturer seems to make the fluke style bait today but this is still my go to bait and I hope they stick around. I order extra with almost every order, just in case. They cast well, with or without the weight and catch tons of fish in clear water. Their only problem is that it's hard to teach someone anything new  after they have fished with these. They are that good.I wish they still made the light pink color as the dark pink isn't as good. The natural shiner type is my first choice but they all work.

Comments: slugos are the best bait ever and always will be. read the rigging instuctains because if you don't rig them right they will not work but i have got cought bass, pike and panfish on the 3inch ones. again best bait ever.

From: tripple R: USA

Comments: Easy lure to fish, I have been using it for as long as I can remember.  I sometimes "load" it with a lead spike to cast it a bit further and get it down a bit faster.  Great on Smallmouth in the river over grass, and shallow structure!

From: Mike: Allentown, PA

Comments: When I take someone who has never fished before. I tie a Slugo on their line. It is almost impossible to hang up or fish wrong. But when a Bass chomps it he hooks himself. And that's the truth or my name isn't Gran Pa Fibbz

From: Gran Pa Fibbz Worlds Greatest Outdoors Man

Comments:This is my go to jerkbait and has been for a couple years. The first time I used it, my friend and I caught 25 bass between the two of us on it in 3 hours. The white and arkansas shiner colors have worked best for me.

From: USA

Comments:The Slugo is still the best twitch bait I have ever used. I was fishing with my partner who was using the Senko and I caught 3 times as many fish as he did.

From:William: Hohenwald, TN

Comments:These are my go to bait. If you want to catch fish then buy these. these will catch fish when all other "imitations" will fail. This is an awesome lure! I have got countless vicious strikes and tons of largemouth and smallmouth bass.

From:Colin: Franklin, MA

Comments:One thing to keep in mind with Slug-Gos is that they are not Senkos. Slug-Gos are twitch baits rather than sinking baits. In fact, they are better twitch baits than Senkos but Senkos are better baits on the drop. Slug-Gos are not loaded with salt (although Lunker City carries a version that is), thus you need to use a weighted hook if you are twitching fast. I have caught a ton of bass and pike on these things since the early '90's.

From:Dean: Minneapolis, MN

Comments:THE SLUG-GO HAS BEEN A REAL BASS KILLER FOR ME ON EVERY LAKE I HAVE FISHED. I HAVE WON TOURNAMENTS ON IT WHEN OTHERS HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS AWESOME BAIT..I'M SOLD FOR LIFE ON THE SLUG-GO.
