Overview

Megabass products not available for order outside of North America.
All rod warranties direct through Megabass. Tackle Warehouse not authorized to process Megabass rod warranties.

Since their debut in 2013, the Megabass Orochi XX series has represented the intersection between Japanese rod technology and North American bass fishing. Now, through painstaking refinement and extensive field-testing, the next chapter in the Orochi saga is set to begin with the introduction of the Megabass Orochi XX Spinning Rods.

Carefully redesigned to deliver clear performance gains – all while staying true to the core characteristics of their predecessors, the Megabass Orochi XX Spinning Rods employ advanced X47-ASL Metal Fiber Blanks (“kabt”) materials to achieve greater lifting power, torque, lightness, and crispness. Replacing the first generation’s old carbon wrap, the Megabass Orochi XX Spinning Rods feature kabt’s metal microfiber material woven into a layered, multi-axis arrangement to deliver a superior power to weight ratio and more decisive control.

Undergoing subtle refinements to balance points in response to a lighter overall weight, the Megabass Orochi Spinning Rods employ Fuji SiC guides that have been precisely placed to highlight the unique properties of each model. Fitted with Megabass’ Spiral Architecture Reel Seats for seamless connection and improved ergonomics, the Megabass Orochi XX Spinning Rods embody Megabass’ unflinching commitment to the American angler.

FantasticPicked up the F3.5-70XXS "Shakyhead"... very versatile rod with great sensitivity. I find this rod in my hand almost every outing. Build quality is second to none.

Previous Feedback

Comments: Ordered the Whipsnake, happily surprised by how much backbone this rod had, allows you to be extremely versatile with finesse baits, incredibly sensitive as well.

From: Alex: Virginia 6/24/22

Comments: Purchased Enforcer primarily for the 7'4" listed length, which it is but handle is long while reel to tip is closer to a 7' rod. I prefer to tie an FJ knot to connect braid to fluorocarbon and the micro guides towards the rod tip limit the casting distance, so have gone to fluorocarbon only with my line. Now for the good; extremely light in my hands and very sensitive with plenty of backbone. My preferred spinning rod and use it for weightless flukes, neko rigs and shakey heads. Would not hesitate to buy another Orochi XX but would research the rod specifics to ensure full understanding of make up and match for my desired use.

Comments: I purchased the ronin jerkbait rod and fished it twice. Second time out lifting a 1 1/2 lb smallmouth out of the water to unhook it rod broke just down below the third eyelet from the tip. I haven't broke a rod fishing in my 40 something years of fishing. And tackle warehouse doesn't warranty them have to go through Megabass. Not a happy camper, going to see if i can get a refund for the rod only had it for two weeks. If not then when they replace it going up for sale. Not happy with there rods at all should of just kept on using my Dobyns 6'9" medium action spinning rod and could of saved some money and headache of mailing it back to Megabass. I DO NOT recommend these rods!

Comments: I've owned the Whipsnake since early winter. Let me just say this after about 100+ fish on it: This thing will ruin your other spinning rods. I mostly use it for drop shot/wacky senkos and you can literally feel the slightest peck on your bait. (even bluegill!) The thing that surprises me the most is just how much power it has for such a light action rod. I've pulled 4+ pounders through moss no issue and even a handful of five pound channel cats. It gets the job done.

Comments: I have been fishing the Whipsnake for a year now and have been extremely pleased with this rod for drop shot, Ned rig and Neko rig. I throw a 10/8 braid--FC leader on it and the sensitivity is impressive. It has a little bit softer tip but can handle any size fish if you know what your doing. Plenty of power. That's probably what surprised me most about the rod. Also an unexpected bonus is I can skip a senko on docks like a dream with this rod. This is my only MB rod at this point but will be looking to add another.

Comments: I run both the Shakyhead and the Enforcer out here on Mille Lacs.  The Shakyhead I use for throwing light jigs and dropshots for Walleye and Smallmouth. The Enforcer I use for heavy livebait rigging Walleye and tubes, small swimbaits and finesse jigs for Smallmouth. The quality of the craftsmanship is amazing.  The sensitivity of the tips and the power of the backbones are phenomenal on each model respectively.  Both models have handled multiple walleye over 10lbs and smallmouth over 6lbs this season.  Definitely worth the investment. I now own 2 spinning and 4 casting, I cant get enough.

From: Chuck: Minnesota 7/14/19

Comments: WARNING: Before you purchase this tremendous stick, please note that it will ruin your other rods.(Preferred over a GLX). If you think that's a good thing, get this rod. If not, you're missing out. In all seriousness, it is crisp, balanced, and has incredible backbone without sacrificing tip or feel. I cannot find anything about this rod that is not exceptional. As Chris Zaldain has said in the past "it flips 4's all day long." Megabass Orochi XX 7' Shakeyhead rod paired with a Daiwa Tatula LT 2500( Best spinning reel on the market in its price range)

From: Jack: Minnesota 7/10/19

Comments: The Ronin is THE BEST jerkbait rod I have ever fished.  Hands down the best.  Perfect length overall, perfect length butt section for fishing jerkbaits, excellent action, unbelievable backbone and the best grip/foregrip on the market.  Not sure there is a better design for a jerkbait rod on the market.  For the application of jerkbait fishing, this rod is absolutely the best.

From: Nicholas: Orrington 6/22/19

Comments: I just received my 6'11 Whip Snake rod earlier today, and took it out on the water for a couple hours. Upon opening up the rod tube, I was impressed! This rod comes with a nice rod sleeve, and the craftsmanship is incredible! I was blown away by the attention to detail, especially in the handle section. Once I picked it up, i realized how light it is paired with my Stradic Ci4+. While using this rod at my local lake I noticed right away that this rod has a nice soft tip, which is excellent for drop shot applications. Don't be fooled though, the tip shuts down quickly and transitions into a very solid backbone. I cant leave a review without mentioning how sensitive the whip snake is. Although I did not catch anything in the short couple of hours, I was quite satisfied by how crisp this rod is.  Every time my 1/4 oz drop shot hit a rock, or went over gravel, I was able to feel every subtle movement. Overall, I'm definitely impressed.

From: Tony: Kansas City 5/4/19

Comments: I purchased this rod about 6 months ago, and so far it's performed really well. I have it paired with a Tatula LT 3000, and I think the balance would be a bit better with a reel that's slightly heavier (think Stradic FK). Right now it's just barely tip heavy with 3 fingers in front of the reel. Overall, handles fish extremely well, is well balanced, has Fuji concept guide train, and it's a pleasure to fish with. Megabass fit and finish is absolutely top notch. Sensitivity is what you'd expect, nothing mind-blowing but definitely gets the job done. I was initially planning to pick up the Whipsnake to have the pair, but I'm undecided. Time will tell.

From: Alec: Texas 4/28/19

Comments: The Orochi XX Whipsnake is the best all around finesse combo for this price point. The rod is ultra sensitive and has so much power. You can do all sorts of things with this rod, like dropshotting, Ned rig, Neko rig and even weightless worms. Ive fished a lot of different rods around the same price and this one blows them out the water. The rod could be priced at a way higher price point.

From: Brandon: Virginia 1/8/19

Comments: Orochi XX Spinning Rod Whipsnake and love it! It's true what they say, the backbone when carrying the fish on boat or shore is great! Casting from shore with the guides are great. Paired it with my CI4 1000 and has great balance and light. Would recommend to all!
