Designed to imitate a large suspended baitfish, the Northland Tackle Minnesota Mullet Hair Jig is built to target bigger fish that are waiting to ambush their next meal around weed lines and rocky areas. Mimicking a dying baitfish as it falls down slowly through the water column, the Mullet Hair Jig earns its name with a hand-tied mullet-style skirt made with 97% synthetic materials that create a slower rate of fall with a more lifelike hovering action.
Forged around a razor-sharp Gamakatsu hook, the Mullet Hair Jig is ultra-strong and heavily equipped to handle big bass and hard-fighting fish. Built with detailed heads and 3D eyes for added realism, the Northland Tackle Minnesota Mullet Hair Jig is available in multiple natural color schemes to catch fish when the bite is tough and the fish are under constant pressure.
Crazy effectiveI ordered one of these thinking it looked pretty cool and might work well in cooler water. I tried it out a couple times off shore and caught a few big bass and pike on it but at a good spot so I just assumed it was alright. Now it’s November in MN and I’m throwing almost exclusively this jig 3/8 or 1/2 ounce and absolutely pounding big pike and bass. It’s incredibly easy to work too. I throw it on a 3000 spinning reel and medium rod with 15 lb test braid and a 12 inch titanium leader. Just cast it out, let it sink a little bit depending on the depth of water you’re fishing, and then just pump the reel a few times and pause it and repeat. All colors look great and this jig and a jerk bait are about all you need for 50 degree or lower water.

Looks great, larger than expectedThis lure (in perch) looks great in the water with lots of natural movement, but is much larger than I expected (over 6" in length for the 1/2oz 5/0 version). Depending on the size of your forage base that may be okay, but it's too large for my purposes.
