Overview

Setting the new standard in terms of quality and performance when it comes to leader material, Seaguar Gold Label Fluorocarbon Leader Line is Seaguar’s thinnest leader material that provides exceptional knot and tensile strength. Made using Seaguar’s exclusive double-structure process with two custom fluorocarbon resins, Seaguar Gold Label Fluorocarbon Leader Line is extremely soft, which makes it cinch easily for fail-safe knots. It is also extremely abrasion resistant, making it a great choice for fishing around rocks, logs, docks, and other jagged types of cover. Whether you’re fishing ultra clear water, highly pressured fish, or around rough structure, Seaguar Gold Label Fluorocarbon Leader Line delivers performance that won’t let you down.

The best fluorocarbon line I've ever used.I purchased this fluorocarbon line figuring I give it a shot. It was sold as the most supple easy tying thinner fluorocarbon on the market. I run fluorocarbon leader on all of my fishing lines. Use braid tied off with an FG knot to my fluorocarbon. Helps fly through the guides. This by far has been the most flexible fluorocarbon I have ever used. Best of all it's American made.

Not happyUsed it for a first time in a tournament. Shame on me. Lost several decent fish with breaks at the braid to leader knot. Switched back to my old flouro and didn’t have anymore problems.

Seaguar Gold Label Fluorocarbon Leader LineThis is the second time I was asked to review this leader and my option of Seaguar Gold Label Flour. Leader has not changed. Excellent strength, abrasion, and smaller diameter than the blue label, allows for better casting and action of soft and hard baits. I would recommend this leader and I think if you try it, you will be pleased with its performance.

Previous Feedback

Comments: This is my absolute favorite flouro leader line. I've gone weeks without changing my leader and have never once broken off. I've gotten snagged up and there have been times I couldn't break the line by pulling on it by hand (I always use 15 lb. test).

From: Corey: PA 9/11/23

Comments: Works amazingly, i haven't had any issues with the line, I am a big Seaguar fan I've used he blue and gold Seaguar leader lines and it's a night and day difference, the diameter of blue Seaguar is more thicker compared to the gold label, very thin diameter especially the 8lbs test, very clear and almost hard to see, pretty strong stuff, a little bit more on the expensive side but it is well worth it, plus you don’t need a lot of leader line, if anyone is looking for a good leader line Seaguar gold label 8lb test is the way to go.

From: Anthony : Mesa, Arizona 7/26/23

Comments: Seaguar Gold label Fluorocarbon leader is my go to leader for both bass and trout fishing . It is strong, abrasive resistant and has a much smaller diameter than the Blue Label Fluorocarbon leader, which I have also used in the past. However, today I only use the Gold Label and I am very satisfied with its performance. I would highly recommend the Gold Label Fluoro. leader to anyone.

From: Mike S. Los Alamitos, CA.: 6/27/23

Comments: Tried the 10lb over my usual 8lb Tatsu as a leader. NEVER AGAIN. The 10lb gold label broke constantly on 1-2lb fish. Never had an issue with Tatsu.

From: Joe: MA 12/25/22

Comments: Would not recommend, broke off many fish. Use Blue Label or Premier!

From: Tom: Maine 10/24/22

Comments: Amazing small diameter per pound test. Only .011 diameter for 15 lb test. Takes a set while on spool. Broke at double uni-knot when attached to braid. Type of knot may be a factor. So far pleased but expensive.

From: Jim: St. Louis, MO 9/24/22

Comments: The 10 pound did great however it's important to be extra perfect tying the knot, the thinner diameter seemed to make it break easier when setting the hook or on a snag

From: Unknown: 8/26/22

Comments: Great leader can handle some scrapes and overall feels premium

From: Hunter: New York 8/15/22

Comments: Wouldn't reccomend. Used 25lb as a leader to flip docks and very sparse pads, broke on almost every hookset. There goes expensive tungsten and flippin hooks for no reason. Even on small fish 1-2lb range it snapped with a moderate hookset.  Called gold label because it leaves the bottom of the lake a gold mine of lost tackle for somebody to find.

From: Unknown: Ontario, Canada 7/14/22

Comments: I love this leader line durability is not as good you have to change leaders A little more often but it's a thinner diameter very smooth great not strength highly recommend

From: Unknown: Ny 7/7/22

Comments: Use 6lb on my drop shot and Ned rigs. Super thin and Unbelievable strength for fishing crystal clear Northern Michigan lakes

From: Mark: Indian River, MI 6/15/22

Comments: Just used this leader line in 20 lb test on multiple rigs last week while bass fishing all day where there are a lot of underwater hangups. My first time trying it and it worked great. It is thinner and less visible than the leader line I had been using yet very strong! It is expensive but worth the price as far as I am concerned!

From: Dennis: Garner, NC 6/13/22

Comments: I use Sufix 131 30lb braid to 8lb Seaguar Gold. Both lines are ultra thin, smooth, and strong. So tying an FG knot you have do at least 25 braids to achieve a 100%. After that your presentation is castable, invisible, flexible, and indestructible. I caught 3 nice Bass yesterday, my largest was 17in. small mouth, after landing that I was sold.

From: John: Minnesota 5/11/22

Comments: Great line very smooth good leader knots

From: Unknown: 5/2/22

Comments: Unmatched performance. Unbelievable strength. Glad I added this to my arsenal.

From: Shane: Mount Juliet, TN 4/21/22

Comments: I use the 10lb & 12lb as the leader on pretty much all of my spinning applications for bass and walleye and find it's like using 8lb & 10lb in thickness in comparison to what I used to use so the gain in strength with a thinner diameter is a difference maker for me. Worth every penny.

From: DK: Canada 4/10/22

Comments: like the smaller size and strength, matches up good with seaguar smackdown

From: Unknown: 3/20/22

Comments: I have tried using the Seaguar Gold Label Leader Line in the 12 and 15 pound weight, my friend has used the 6# and greater weight. It seems that my friend has had a few break offs with the lower weight lines. Sometimes he just loads up too much on the cast and the line snaps and other times, since we are fishing in upper Minnesota, he may try and set the hook a little to hard and the fish is larger than he expects and brakes the line. In the 12 and 15 pound weights I have never had a problem with this line breaking. Even when I get hung up on something under the water, I have a difficult time breaking the line. Other than a Northern cutting the line with its teeth, I have never lost a fish from line failure. With the 12 and 15 pound test lines I would not use the uni-to-uni knot, it may be a little to large on todays smaller tips. Better to use one of the newer knots to attach the fluorocarbon leader to a braid. The knot is smaller and the tag ends lay down better.

From: Pete: Skokie, IL 2/18/22

Comments: I have used Seaguar leader material for years, starting with the Blue Label and now the newer Gold Label. I use15-40 lb. for saltwater fly fishing leaders and 10- 20 for leaders to braid mainlines for both salt and freshwater fishing. I find the Gold Label to be an excellent product, thinner than most others, abrasion resistant, supple, strong and easy to tie nonslip knots. Worth the price and certainly recommended for serious anglers.

From: Unknown: 2/17/22

Comments: Super thin diameter and strong, great leader line

From: Jesse: West Monroe, LA 1/24/22

Comments: I've used seaguar for years and have to say this is one of my favorite floro leaders! This stuff is strong, abrasion resistant, and priced right. Buy and use with confidence.

From: Rylee: California 1/23/22

Comments: This is some great leader. My go to for braid to fluoro setups

From: Jeff: Bella Vista, Arkansas 1/16/22

Comments: I have used quite a few fluorocarbon leaders over a number of years most have held up very well, but the Seaguar gold label has never failed me. It is very supple and the diameter is smaller than most other fluorocarbon leaders, if diameter matters to you. I recently purchased a new reel and was attaching a 12# test fluorocarbon leader to my braid (it was a 100 yd spool so I figured I would try to use some up - it was not Seaguar) and I gave the line a good pull to set the knot and the fluorocarbon snapped in two. Not what I expect with a 12# test. I then used the Seaguar gold label leader and pulled a number of times to test its strength and set the knot and it held perfectly. The knot was so small I could probably use it on a micro guide rod. It is a little expensive, but if you get it on sale the price is comparable to other brands.

From: Pete S.: Skokie, IL 1/15/22

Comments: Much thinner and less memory than other fluoros I've tried.

From: Unknown: 1/6/22

Comments: This is the best fluorocarbon on the market! Very thin diameter and super tough, this is the only fluorocarbon I use.

From: Brett: LA,Ca 12/6/21

Comments: Stay away from it. I have always used Seaguar red label and have never had any problems with the red, but I thought that I would give the gold a try. Huge mistake, the gold leader broke on almost every cast. Stick with the red label, it works.

From: Josh: Scott Depot, WV 12/3/21

Comments: This leader is as good as it gets, incredibly thin and strong.

From: Robert: Tuross Head, NSW, Australia 12/1/21

Comments: This leader is as good as it gets. Its super thin, super strong and has proven results on the water on most species. This is my go to leader and has replaced the others.Highly recommend.

From: Robert: Tuross Head, Australia 9/23/21

Comments: Having used Seaguar Invisics for a long time, I decided to get a spool of 12lb Gold Label to use as leader on 15lb braid on a spinning reel for heavy dropshot and neko rigging. I am not disappointed. Strong and pliable with no issues to date. Pricey but would recommend to serious anglers!

From: Stu: La Mesa, Ca 9/19/21

Comments: I got the 8lb gold label cause I heard it was awesome. I have never seen a more fragile line. Had three break offs with either a drop shot or a spy bait. Maybe I got a bad batch but for the price it should be perfect. I love seaguar invisix for bigger lines but it's not worth leaving gamma for lighter lines.

From: Unknown: 9/2/21

Comments: I think the 8lb spool diameter is too small.  I had to scrap most of a spool because when I was changing leaders most of the line jumped off the spool and got tangled.

From: Unknown: 6/16/21

Comments: I bought 12 pound for a leader with 20 pound braid on a spinning setup. This line is expense but it is great. Very soft, great strength, love the line diameter. 12 pound line the size of 10. Great for weightless setup. Caught lots of fish on it with no issues. I like it so much I will now probably start using a leader on my baitcasters. Landed a 8 and a 7 pound bass on it.

From: Isaiah: 6/5/21

Comments: I've used the 30 lb as leader for deps 250s, but when I tried the 10 pound as a leader on my finesse set up this stuff broke on almost every hookset no matter what I did. I played with the drag, strength of hookset, a bunch of different knots, really everything and it still broke. I don't know if I got a bad batch, but I'm very disappointed in the 10 lb line. The 30 was great however.

From: Unknown: California 6/3/21

Comments: I am using this stuff for braid-to-fc leaders and I am impressed. Very strong, very thin, very flexible and easy to tie knots that don't slip. No problems (yet), so I am probably hooked.

From: Terry: Glendale AZ 5/31/21

Comments: Tried both the 8# and 10#. Nothing but breakoffs with this leader material. Uninpressive knot strength at both the lure and braid connection. Very disappointed in this line considering the price.

From: Bob: Connecticut 5/16/21

Comments: Yes it is expensive; however I think the diameter of the line gives you the added advantage over other anglers.

From: Greg: Worcester, MA 5/5/21

Comments: Seaguar Gold might just be the best fluorocarbon line they have ever made and I love their invizX exclusively.

From: Unknown: 4/24/21

Comments: I've been using suffix fluorocarbon for my leaders for many years.  I tried this product and was not impressed.  The price and quality do not measure up. Going back to suffix.

From: Alan: 4/14/21

Comments: Not impressed at all, Tatsu is a way better leader.  This broke off first hookset on a wacky rig on a spinning rod....Waste of money, stick with Tatsu.

From: Unknown: 4/12/21

Comments:
I've been using this as a leader for my 50lb braid for years, and I swear by it. You won't find a finer fluoro.

From: Nick: Oklahoma City, OK  4/6/21

Comments: I've been using Seaguar Premier leaders for 7 years with a braid main line application.  Gold is appears to be a worse product and I've compensated by going up in poundage losing diameter benefits. However when I do that the connection knot is harder to tie and prevent slippage. So looking around, its possible I got a bad batch and will continue to use the product until I find something better.

From: Paul: Pennsylvania  3/20/21

Comments: I have gone braid to leader on just about everything except punching and frogging. I saw a recommendation on Tactical Bassin' so I thought I would give it a shot and I was not disappointed! Just enough stretch to absorb the shock of big bites but with the low visibility of fluro. It's a little pricey so I will use it for my swimbait set-ups and use regular fluro for the smaller bait techniques.

From: Steve: Irving 2/28/21

Comments: I am 74 years old, and this is the first review I have ever written.  I am writing because I was so disappointed.  I am very meticulous with my tackle and line.  I purchased 2 spools of 15lb for spinning braid/floro application.  Both spools tested at only 7lb strength.  I definitely recommend not purchasing this line.  For now, I am going to continue to use Seaguar Tatsu 15lb. I have used Tatsu for the past three years, and it has continued to have an average breaking strength of 12lbs.

From: Unknown: 2/21/21

Comments: I found the 8lb line to be exceptionally strong and abrasive resistant while dropshotting. Disappointed that it is not sold in spools greater than 25 yds. Would like to see 100 yd spools or bigger.

From: Allen: 2/17/21

Comments: Like all Seaguar Fluoro , the Gold label is good. Seems to be even more flexible and smoother than the other lables.

From: David: Oceanside, CA 1/28/21

Comments:Not a fan of the 10# test Gold Label. Has strength of 8# Invisx. Was hoping it would be a stronger, thinner line for the pound test rating. I would suggest going by the line diameter rather than pound test. Can't say I'm a fan. Does NOT like a palomar not AT ALL! Will stick with 10# Invisx for braid to leader on my spinning setups.

From: Tod: Georgia 1/2/21

Comments:Very clear and surprisingly abrasive resistant, great to use on braid and in clear water.

From: Mike: St. Louis, MO 12/22/20

Comments:Unfortunately not a big fan of this line. I really wanted to like it, but didn't have the strength I expected. I have fished it a few times now and had breakage issues each time. For the cost per foot, I had much higher expectations. I will be going back to Tatsu line for my leader line on spinning setups.

From: Theo: Baltimore, MD 12/21/20

Comments:For my very first time using it, it held up very well on drop shot all day.

From: Chris: Charlotte, NC 12/19/20

Comments: Great product for line leaders, but I wish it came with options for greater spool sizes. Like 100 yards or at least a 50yrd.

From: Chris: Los Gatos, CA 12/3/20

Comments: Been using 8# Tatsu for Leader while using light spinning gear. This 8# Gold Label is thinner andI think stronger than Tatsu. But I've only used it fresh. Time on the rod will tell, going to put new on always before a tournament.

From: John: Lakeside, Oregon 11/20/20

Comments: Never thought I'd find something better than Tatsu for a leader but Seaguar did such with Gold Label!!! This stuff is Amazing, only wish it came in 100 yd spools instead of 25 yds!!!

From: Lunker Jones: PA 11/9/20

Comments: This is my first purchase of leader line specifically for my leaders. I usually just use floro or mono line depending of use. I have added the line to two of my reels and have fished only once. That being said it is easy to connect to braid and the connection knots are smaller which certainly helps on rods with micro guides. Time will tell if it's worth the cost!

From: David: Albany, GA 11/2/20

Comments:I like to try new products but this gold label broke twice with out much effort I will stickto the seaguar blue label

From: Al - South Carolina 10/18/20

Comments: I have always used seaguar blue label 20 lb test.I just tried the new gold label complety dissapointed it broke two different times. it is thiner but the strenth is just not there. Stick to the blue label.

From: Unknown - 10/8/20

Comments:Very very bad memory. Thought I could go to 20 lb with same size as 15 lb. I will be going back to tatsu. I got 2 spools of this and after the first I threw the second in the garbage.
