Overview

Tirelessly developed and refined by esteemed lure designer Hideki Maeda, the Teckel USA Bladewake Bladed Jig packs the performance and attraction of several baits all rolled into one. Fitted with a one of a kind hybrid blade, the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig can be worked on the surface with a raised tip, delivering all of the commotion and fish-drawing power of a buzzbait.

Drop the tip slightly, and the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig transforms into a wakebait, pushing water and aggravating fish with a heavy shuttering action. When big fish are focused on moving baits, like vibrating jigs and crankbait,s the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig moves below the surface and bangs off of cover when the rod tip is pointed at the water.

Finely crafted with the same degree of quality and detail that anglers have come to expect from Teckel, the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig is covered with a highly detailed finish, realistic eyes, and high-quality skirting. Backed by a razor-sharp hook, the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig blurs the line between bait categories, defining a new genre of highly effective hybrid lures.

Interesting hybridBait performs as described. It stay high I. The water column and wallows around moving a bunch of water. Comes through vegetation pretty well, but I intend to work it around the edges mostly rather than right thru the heaviest gunk. Hooks seems a little large, but time will tell on that. I got the lure a little too late to see it really perform.

Comments: I am new to fishing the Teckel USA Bladewaker Bladed Jig and have had mixed results. I suspect that it works best in grassy watersheds which don't visit that often. I've picked up a couple of two and three pounders casting around wood and blowdowns predawn.

Comments: I'm new to a bladewalker and I've been throwing it regularly the last week and a half. The thing is I've been getting a lot of blowups but not many fish. I fish from a sit on top kayak so in order to break the surface I have to retrieve it pretty fast and when I slow down it becomes a subsurface lure but the bass seem to prefer it's topwater action. This morning I had 8 or 9 strikes on it but only stuck one fish. I'm frustrated and in a quandary.

Comments: Like most Teckel products, I find the overall quality of this bait to be excellent. I will say that I bought this lure as a top water bait expecting it to fish in a similar way to a buzz bait. I find that I have to fish it faster that than I want to in order to keep it on the surface. For this reason I am not sure how much play this lure will get from me. I don't see the advantage here except that the fish probably don't see many Bladewakers.

Comments: Great flipping bait to replace a buzz bait. Also, run it below the surface to imitate breaking Shad. My go to alternative to chatterbaits too.

From: Patrick : Fort Collins, Colorado 3/19/23

Comments: I fish 1-3 feet of water a lot. Like, a lot! This gets it done. It doesn't seem to matter which trailer you use, either.

From: O’billy: 11/22/22

Comments: On the fence. I like it and it runs as advertised but it hasn't fooled anything yet. Ran sprayed grass with a few of the obvious trailers. Big water bait for sure.

From: Aidan: Waukesha 10/24/22

Comments: The Bladewaker I got from a 2022 order had the new design hooks. So the breaking should be an issue now. I feel like this is a sleeper lure. You can use it similar to other bladed jigs with cast and wind or jig up and fall etc. You can let it sink and get to kinda any depth but it will climb and does best in the top 4-6 of water. With tip down, it will stay submerged on steady low/medium retrieve. Tip even it will wake just subsurface. Tip at say 2 o'clock will let you wake it right on the surface. This is a great late summer and fall option where topwater is on, but you might also want to rip through some grass or go deeper on alternating casts. I found it to be quite weedless and came through cover pretty well. I did eventually lose one when I got a little too aggressive around wood but I'd been doing well around rock grass and structure all day. I've used it with a variety of trailers and like paddle tails and craws with it. This is a standard part of my arsenal now.

Comments: I would imagine you'd have to tangle with bass bigger than average to bend the hook. Honestly, Teckel should just sell the blade as there are a few jigs out there that it could attach to. Just a different look for when spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and toad bites all collide over cover.

Comments: I've been really excited about this bait and convinced quite a few buddies to buy some. However, the hook is TRASH. Twice now the hook has broken off from the jig. The first time I went to remove the hook and it broke in the shank. I thought it was a fluke, but Most recently, I was in a tournament and fighting the bass back to the boat  when the line went slack and the lure shot right back at me. The hook was missing from the jig, so it broke off in the fish. The concept is great, and the BW is a blast to fish. But a FIFTEEN DOLLAR jig should come with a solid hook. Not only have these hook malfunctions cost me $30 in tackle, but may have also cost a tournament.

Comments: I am a fan of Teckel's products. This is an awesome and versatile lure. My only complaint on the bladewaker is.. i caught so many fish on it my hook snapped from the jig head. I would like to see a stronger hook on this.

From: Joshua: Greenfield, CA 7/11/21

Comments: I've been using it as a chatterbait with a trailer. It has really good action, and when its reeled in fast it can fished as a topwater buzzbait.

From: Ron: California 5/5/21

Comments: This is a very unique lure, its like a topwater chatterbait, i havent caught anything on it yet but the topwater bite hasnt really taken off yet this year, but judging from what ive seen, this is gonna be a nice addition to the arsenal...

From: Florida 4/18/21

Comments: I use this as a buzzbait that i can kill and dive 6' or so. Deps bull side trimmed up makes an excellent trailer. Pretty much any beaver style bait works to make a surface to subsurface bait.

From: James: Oklahoma 3/23/21

Comments: This bait is amazing here in North Carolina the bass been crushing it here.. Suck an amazing action running over overlaying trees not the best running through grass but the wake action is very similar to the jackhammer I would definitely recommend this bait.

Comments: I had a buddy of mine talk me into trying the Bladewalker baits. I got to tell you these things produce strikes. Paired with the right trailer this has proven to be a deadly bait for river bass.

From: John T: Midway, TX 10/28/20

Comments: Works great as both a top water bait or when the fish has seen to many chatterbaits. Fun and easy to use.

From: Unknown: Minnesota 10/16/20

Comments:Gamechanger! When the buzzbait and other wake style baits are played out, this gets attention quickly. It has become my go-to topwater on Georgia/South Carolina/Tennessee Lakes. Very versatile too. Works great on top of the water and waking just below the surface. Has ignited a new bite on a local pond that was getting gun shy of everything else.I have not had one short strike like I do on buzzbaits. My hook up and landing ratio has been excellent!

From: Tod - Georgia 10/13/20

Comments:Liking this Teckel. Easy to fish. Only used it one day and fishing was poor. I'm sure this bait will work very well. This bait is a wake bait. Not to confuse it with a Jackhammer. Hook seems solid enough. Swim thru everything with ease. Can't wait for the top water bite to start.

From: Martin: SoCal 10/6/20

Comments:The Teckel Bladewaker in Green Pumpkin had me catching nice bass fast.I was using it on the surface like you would a buzzbait and the bass would come up and get it. Caught a few around timber letting it hit the tree or limbs and killing it letting it fall.Great Bait. Added small trailer hook for better hook ups. Used with a Fluke.

From: Jim - Table Rock, MO 10/05/20

Comments:Love the action for sure. When you let it fall it looks awesome. Rolls and sways slow and wide. Already couple a couple decent bass on it. I've never had much luck with chatterbaits but the ability to run wake/topwater is great. Paired with a super fluke it's a great option.

From: Justin: Portland, OR 10/2/20

Comments: I liked this bait, caught a bass on the first cast with it. The next cast I hit a rock and the hook bent at 90 deg. I didn't hit the rock that hard. I like the concept but the hook needs to be stronger.

From: Unknown: Alabama 10/1/20

Comments:I have only thrown this bait 2-3 times since receiving it... the topwater bite has been off lately so no fish caught. I will say that the bait does everything that it is supposed to do. It has a nice gurgle, leaves a bubble trail and looks great coming through the water column. This thing slides in and around pads nicely and I am impressed by how great it does around grass beds. I am positive that these will produce as soon as the fall bite kicks. Keep the trailer sensible, while testing in the pool the larger trailers kill the action.

From: Matt: Montgomery, TX 9/25/20

Comments: This is designed to be a topwater bait. Don't be fooled by its appearance, and don't expect a chatterbait that runs deep.

From: Matthias: Novato 8/31/20

Comments:I am still in the testing phase of the Bladewalker. This bait is basically a vibrating jig/buzzbait. The prior reviews are just factually incorrect. This was made to mimic a buzzbait while having the shimmy of the vibrating jig. The bait accomplishes this perfectly. It spits, it gurgles and it attracts fish. As far as the components, when I first started throwing it I somehow got the blade stuck inside the split ring that holds it but it hasnt happened since that first time. The hook is solid.I am pretty sure you could hang a slab of beef with it...this other post about the weak brittle hooks puzzles me. Overall, a good bait that does what it is designed to do. The best part is that I have covered a lot of shoreline with this bait pitching in and around brush...it slips and slides through perfectly.

From: Matt - Montgomery, TX 8/25/20

Comments: Well, I was very excited to try this new bladewaker bait to see if it can give the jackhammer a run for it's money. The videos looked promising. After fishing it a bunch on Santee Cooper (River), I came away a little disappointed. The concept is great and if you're going to fish it as a buzzbait or shallow bait, it's very good; however, even moving the snap to the deeper location, this bait wouldn't go deep enough. The bait rose immediately and was almost like a wakebait, even in the deep position. The action was ok at best but I noticed that it didn't have the "hunting" action like the jackhammer! For the same price, I'll stick with the jackhammer! Not a terrible bait but definitely not as good as a jackhammer!

From: Howard: Goose Creek, SC 7/13/20

Comments:The hook is actual garbage. Noticed one bent when I hit a wood dock piling. Bent it back and it snapped at the keeper. Opened up 2 others I had bought and they bent like paper clips then snapped like twigs. Not sure if they got a bad batch of hooks or just use cheap hooks, either way, definitely not buying anymore.
