Overview

Adding to Zoom’s legendary line-up of fishing catching baits, the Zoom Midsize Brush Hog splits the difference between the Baby Brush Hog and the Standard Brush Hog to give anglers the perfect size for almost all scenarios. Delivering an action and profile that is responsible for catching boatloads of fish and winning tournaments for years, the Zoom Midsize Brush Hog features long tails, wings, and arms that move a tremendous amount of water and produce an enticing action that simply gets bit. It is also made with soft, salty plastic that feels like a meal to big bass, yet tough enough to stand up to getting bit again and again.

A premier flipping bait, the Zoom Midsize Brush Hog is an outstanding soft plastic for targeting shallow water cover, but it is also highly effective on a magnum shakey head, on the back of a jig, or a Carolina-rig on offshore structure. Available in a wide selection of Zoom’s proven fish catching colors, the Zoom Midsize Brush Hog will attract both numbers of tournament-sized fish and the kicker needed to seal the deal.

Mid size Brush hogThis size is perfect for the days when the bite is off. It is large enough to be thrown on a bait caster and has enough meat to hold a larger hook.

Brush Hog BassinI fish most of the Zoom products and the midsize brush hog is very effective in the Fall on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn for those schooling bass on a Texas rig or Carolina rig. I also have good success with this brush hog when fishing the Atchafalaya Basin year round. Very satisfied with all of the Zoom fishing lures I use and I would highly recommend this lure.

Comments: The midsize brush hog was a great addition to the already existing sizes produced by Zoom. Here in the Midwest we fish a mix of "grass" lakes and rock, and generally, water clarity is greater than 3 feet so this size is typically better than the full size in many of the area lakes. This bait has great action either fished on a Texas rig or dragging on a C-rig. I keep it simple with color, when water is clearer I go with watermelon shades, green pumpkin when water is more stained.

Comments: Great bait for matching the hatch and changing the rate of fall on the fly rather than needing to change up your sinker. I have had good luck fishing this behind myself in the same areas that I was catching them on the large version. This bait does hold a big hook better than the baby version.

From: Mike : MA 8/2/23

Comments: The perfect size for multiple occasions!

From: Unknown: 7/31/23

Comments: Great bait to fil the void between the baby brush hog, and the full size brush hog, Definitely a fish catcher.

From: Eric: Florida 7/28/23

Comments: The perfect size. Not too big or too small. A Goldilocks lure. Works well here on Lake Fork.

From: Maury: Yantis, Texas 7/1/23

Comments: If you like baby brush hogs you will love the midsize. perfect size for pitching and dragging.

From: Larry: Jacksonville 6/28/23

Comments: Midsize bait is perfect. The mini tears too easily while the large is too much at times. I use the mid for t.rig, c.rig, and flipping. Here in Central Texas, the watermelon and orange do the best.

From: BrianB: 3/20/23

Comments: The midsize brush hog to me is the perfect option of this line of baits. I love the baby brush hog but I didn't really care for how the thin body held a hook so with this size it holds a hook perfectly but is still small and finesse enough to get you a ton of bites

From: Rance: Tx 3/1/23

Comments: Another great addition to the Brush Hog family. Just a tried and true bait that flat catch fish. Watermelon Candy, Junebug, Green Pumpkin are hard to beat.

From: William: McDonough, Ga 2/12/23

Comments: These are the perfect size. I also like the Baby Brush Hog, but these cast better. I add a 1/8oz tungsten weight if it's not too windy and bounce it off the structure on the bottom. This thing straight-up catches them as good as a Senko! I like the Watermelon Candy, Watermelon Red, and Green Pumpkin Magic. Buy a pack!

From: Chris: Cincinnati Ohio 10/22/22

Comments: Perfect size, not too big, not too small. I don't "target" the big pigs so I don't use the standard size brush hogs and the baby brush hogs are just too small unless I'm dropshotting. These midsize are great all around. I usually cut the first set of appendages (looped legs) because they seem to like to hang up on branches or sturdy vegetation. Green Pumpkin and Junebug work for me in the CA Delta. Great bait!

From: nateroo: Folsom (the town not the joint) 10/15/22

Comments: I've been using Brush Hogs (Large, Baby, Tiny) basically since they came out some years ago with great success. I had no problems with the large size but the Baby was too small for a 4/0 hook and a 3/0 and smaller hook has penetration issues unless you use an EWG hook. When the Mid-Sized came out I could use a standard 4/0 worm hook and notice right away I was getting more bites with them as opposed to the other sizes. As with all Zoom products they offer these in a wide variety of colors that suit any situation!!

From: Ed: Texas 6/17/22

Comments: really good size the small brush hogs seem to catch too much wind when casted weightless, and the large one sink too fast. It's about the perfect size to have enough weight to cast without an additional weight to be added and has a better swimming action

From: Derek: Louisiana 3/11/22

Comments: The Midsize Brush Hog hits the sweet spot in size for me. It's my go to bait any time of year, no matter how shallow or how deep the fish are. I recently caught fish on it 40 ft deep and the next day when it warmed up, I caught fish on it in 3 ft of water. I would like to see Green Pumpkin Red offered if it isn't already. I haven't been able to find any.

Comments: Really enjoy this bait, first trip out using the midsize caught a 7.3. just too bad there is not a midsize blue fleck power worm.

From: Unknown: 12/18/21

Comments: Great addition to the Zoom lineup. Works well in stained water better than the baby size.

From: Unknown: 11/23/21

Comments: I was excited to hear that a midsize bait was being introduced because I felt it would prove more effective than the full size bush hog in the earlier, colder water season, when the full size bait wasn't very effective. For whatever reason, I never had much success with the baby brush hog. The Midsize turned out to be so effective early season that I stuck with it through post spawn into summer, when I would ordinarily start using the full size one. It got me so many fish throughout the summer that I never rigged up a 6" one all season long!

From: Bruce: Unknown 11/4/21

Comments: Zoom hit the nail on the head with this midsize brush hog. I've always thought the Baby Brush Hog was great. This gives me the perfect presentation.

From: Rich: Wellsboro, PA 10/27/21

Comments: The mid-size brush hog is the perfect "in between" presentation bait. While it is a tad bigger than the baby brush hog it still allows for subtle entry into the water. The thicker and longer body allows for a larger hook to be utilized. Have already used this bait with great success from 2"˙ to 20". Nice addition to the Arsenal.

From: Stu: Cincinnati, Ohio 10/14/21

Comments: I like the mid size because it gave me another option to Target mid range fish in number.

From: OJ: Ft Worth, TX 10/4/21

Comments: I like the consistency of the plastice. Holds the 4/0 hook well. I use a Gamakatsu or Owner hook, standard and wide gap, depending of where I'm throwing it. Very good under docks and in cattails. A larger punch weight works well with it as well. I use it when the larger black brush hog seems to be too much.

From: Unknown: 9/25/21

Comments: I love Zoom baits and highly respect the company! I don't believe they have their lures made in china like most dang companies do! Their midsize is a fish catcher for sure. My wife and I caught over 40 bass using these last week! They also are a lot more durable than other soft plastics. You can catch more than one fish on these! Thank you Zoom for great products at a great price and for staying in the USA!!

From: Unknown: 9/23/21

Comments: This mid size helps with less aggressive large fish. The baby brush hog is ignored because of its size. It helps me also when we fjsh blue bird days.

From: Dave: Oxford, MS 9/12/21

Comments: The mid size brush hog has been a go to with me when the summer bite gets tough. Great in between size that's gets it done!

From: Steve: Roseburg, OR 8/3/21

Comments: The brush hog is to bulky, harder to set the hook and seems I miss and lose more fish. The midsize brush hog is thinner little smaller I get a better hook set and seldom lose fish. I use the midsize brush hog 95% of time and have been catching more fish and having more confidence when setting the hook and getting them to the boat. Wish they would have had these when I was fishing tournaments

From: Larry: Louisville, KY 8/1/21

Comments: This is the easiest I have found to fish through the rank tangled grass that I fish in, and the fish seem to like it alot

From: Robert: Silver Springs 7/30/21

Comments: Love the brush hog and these are a great size big enough, but not too small. Wish they would offer more of the colors they have the standard brush hogs in. Green pumpkin orange is my favorite which isn't available in the midsize.

From: Andy: Indiana 6/30/21

Comments: The Midsize Brush Hog is a great addition to the brush hog family. I have used it successfully on Lake Okeechobee with a 5/8oz tungsten bullet sinker in black Safire. Baby Brush Hog in mar-di-gra color is awesome. Too bad the midsize dosen't come in this color.

From: Rick: Florida 6/23/21

Comments: Zoom soft plastics have stood the test of time with quality and great variety. The Midsize Brush Hog is a perfect addition to the lineup.

From: Rob: Lexington, SC 3/17/21

Comments: The midsize is money the brush hog is a staple all sizes have a time and a place and they all catch big fish

From: John: Ventura, CA 3/6/21

Comments: Perfect bait for my area. I always felt the original was too big and the baby too small. This one is perfect!

From: TGB32: Kansas 3/2/21

Comments: Awesome bait I use it flipping bushes when we have high water.

From: Unknown: 2/25/21

Comments: The Baby Brush Hog is money where I fish. The only issue I have is a 4/0 hook does a number on them.  I'm hoping the midsize will stand up to the 4/0 hook a little better.

From: Mike: Ohio 2/25/21

Comments: The baby brush hog has been my go to bait for years now. First time out using the Midsize I caught a seven pounder. Can not wait to throw this bait again. tight lines everyone.

From: Brian: California 2/17/21

Comments: A great bait. Soft plastic, plenty of salt and the right size!

From: Brian: Lubbock, TX 2/13/21

Comments: Works great , zoom should of made this size 20 years ago.

From: Justin: Lake Worth, FL 2/4/21

Comments: I was excited to see the introduction of this midsize, as I fish the other 2 sizes quite a bit and feel this new size is filling a spot that will result in more bigger bites in that post spawn period where the bass may not be fully ready to feast on the 6" Hog!

From: Bruce: South Windsor, CT 1/26/21

Comments: Not sure why it took so long for zoom to make the brush hog in this size but it is perfect.

From: Greg: Meridian, MS 1/15/21

Comments: I'm a big user of any Zoom product, especially the Super Hog and when I found out that Zoom came out with a new Midsize Brush Hog I was one of the first to order some. I have used them to flip around docks and into brush piles since ordering them and they work perfectly. I like the super hog because of it's profile and I'm pretty sure the new midsize Brush Hog will find a permenant home in my arsenal as well.

From: Frank: Lees Summit, MO 1/7/21

Comments: Excellent upgrade for the Zoom Brush Hog. Anyone who fishes this baits KNOWS it catches fish like crazy and the mid-size is an excellent upgrade. The larger size helps with bigger bites. Another homerun from Zoom.

From: Patrick: Hattiesburg, MS 1/5/21

Comments: Want a bait that catches fish on every lake? Look no further. New midsize is just another weapon to add to your arsenal.

From: Unknown: 11/19/20

Comments: Been waiting for this! Great for areas that don't have the bigger fish. Sometimes the full size is a bit too big. Same Zoom quality.

From: Craig: Tacoma, WA 11/2/20

Comments:The new Zoom Midsize Brush Hog has become a go to bait for me just like its little brother the Super Hog. The Midsize Brush Hog has allowed me to down size, but still present a bait profile that the fish want. The size is perfect for a #3 hook and it perfectly skips under docks and cables. I have found no negatives about this new Zoom bait and more importantly the fish haven't either.

From: Frank: Lees Summit, MO 10/30/20

Comments: Good Zoom bait. Nice back action. I have yet to catch anything using it, but my buddy has caught several creek bass with it on a Jig head.

From: Nick: TN 10/26/20

Comments:Legends never die, always a great go to when the bite gets tough!

From: Don - Waukesha, WI 10/19/20

Comments:The mid size brush hog is another addition to an already effective group of brush hogs. Throughout the season adjusting the size can be critical to a few extra bites.

From: Terry - Bellefonte, PA 10/19/20

Comments: Size was perfect but was not to happy with the voids in the body witch caused a slight bend in the body that made them no straight

From: Dave: PA 10/6/20

Comments: Originally bought these because I wanted some bold colors and there weren't any available in the standard brush hog. Well, These just became part where f my standard arsenal. A slightly smaller presentation for when the fish get finicky or you need to get the bait into tighter spots. It's been working great for flippin into thick grass.

From: Greg 10/5/20

Comments:Great flipping bait. Use the 6th Sense 4.0 hybrid offset hook and you won't loose too manny!

From: Mike: Lake Ozark, MO 10/2/20

Comments:Bulk of a larger bait but action of the smaller bait. Same zoom quality.

From: Bret - Rhome, TX 09/29/20

Comments:I've been a fan of the baby brush hog for a long time, so was glad to see a midsize. However, upon purchasing a pack, I was disappointed about how large they were. The are almost as big as a standard size. Will give away, or maybe use flipping.

From: Doug - Arizona 09/29/20

Comments: Perfect size, can still catch the dinks but has the appeal to the big ones. Alot tougher than the baby brush hogs but not as thick as the regular brush hogs.

From: Travis 9/26/20

Comments:This is the perfect size brushhog that alot of us bass fishermen needed. Caught bass on this new brushhog first night out. Work's great with a 4/0 worm hook. This is going to be another great bait that zoom makes. Perfect.

From: Mike: Nicholasville, KY 9/24/20

Comments:I have been hoping for years that Zoom which make a brush hog this size. But the mold is off, the front arms or what ever you want to call them, are off by about 45% from where they should be.They look twisted. That first I thought it was just from being in the package, But I bought 4 packages & they where all twisted. It may not make a difference but its definitely messed up & not what I would expect Zoom to put out there.
