BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System Review

First Impressions
One of the most unique aspects of bass fishing is the massive and ever-expanding variety of baits and terminal tackle on the market. While the process of researching and shopping for certain baits can often be enjoyable, getting your supply of hooks properly dialed-in can be a bit more dry and daunting. With all the different hook sizes needed for fishing different baits, it can be challenging and time consuming keeping your collection properly stocked.
The BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System aims to tackle this issue. Housed in a main storage box equipped with a waterproof gasket, the kit includes 48 small, clear boxes containing various types of BKK hooks that cover nearly any rigging need you’ll encounter. Our Tackle Warehouse reviewers were initially impressed by the refinement and vast selection of hooks along with the well organized and accessible layout, although there was some concern about the durability of the internal boxes themselves. This raised the question: Is the Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System truly a revolution in utility and convenience, or would those durability concerns prove to be substantiated?

+ Saves time buying individual hooks
+ Solid value

Breakdown
Performance: 8.37

Cold-forged from hyper carbon steel, the included BKK Armor Point hooks are up to 25% stronger and 30% harder than previous generations. Further enhancing performance, each hook features a low-friction Super Slide Coating for a stealthy satin appearance and easier hook penetration.

We were immediately impressed by the refinement and incredible sharpness of each hook in our Fully Loaded boxes. Our positive outlook continued out on the water, as our BKK hooks delivered excellent hooksets and strength while bass fishing with a variety of baits.

One reviewer also praised some of the specific design features, including the Permalock hook’s screw-lock design, noting how it locked the bait’s head in place while allowing it to pivot without tearing.
“I like how the epoxy-sealed eyelet and low-profile bait keeper on the heavy cover flipping hook made it convenient to tie a snell knot.”
Durability: 8.5
Despite a couple of reviewers questioning the durability of the boxes, no major problems with the materials, closures, or hinges materialized during testing. One reviewer did note that an outer plastic flange on the back of his box broke off while carelessly flinging it into a boat locker, but he reported no other issues. While our testing period only lasted a few months, making it impossible to prove the true longevity of the various storage boxes, we’re confident they will easily withstand proper usage for quite a while.
“I was a little concerned that the hook and accessory boxes would fall apart over time, but they have held up great…”
Value: 8.12

Priced at $299.99, there’s no denying the BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System represents a substantial investment. However, considering BKK advertises that you’d spend about $356 purchasing everything separately, it also represents a substantial value as well. Depending on where you fish, the selection of hooks may include some you’ll rarely or never use, but you might still save money by purchasing the Fully Loaded kit rather than buying most of the necessary hooks separately.
Utility: 8.37
The layout of the BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System is incredibly organized, making it easy to quickly recognize and access the exact hook you need. As noted, the hook selection is huge (maybe too huge for some anglers) and likely covers most, if not all the situations you’ll encounter during any day of bass fishing.

Although the main box is great to just toss in the boat and go, one reviewer pointed out that it's between a 3600 and 3700 size, which could pose an issue for fitting perfectly into boat tackle storage systems.

The large main box is designed with a “watertight” gasket under the lid to seal out moisture. To thoroughly test this design, we emptied the box, snapped it closed, and held it underwater for about 40 seconds. While our box didn’t prove to be 100% waterproof during this overly extreme test, barely any water seeped inside. If left out in a heavy rain or subjected to lots of splashing from a rough-water boat ride, the box is likely to keep its contents absolutely bone dry.
“I really do think that BKK brought something to the organizational side for terminal tackle that has been needed for a long time.”
Final Thoughts

Overall, the BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System was very well received by TW staff and proved to be a welcome addition to both the world of hooks and tackle storage. Although the hook selection might be a bit over the top for some anglers, the OCD System’s value, organized layout, functionality, quality, and single-purchase convenience should not be downplayed. For anglers who fish a wide variety of techniques or just want to be prepared for nearly any situation, the BKK Fully Loaded OCD Tackle Storage System gets our enthusiastic recommendation.
