Zebco

In 1947, a Texas watchmaker named R.D. hull got the idea for a new kind of fishing reel after watching a clerk at a meatcounter pull string from a fixed spool. In 1949, the first "Standard" spincast reels are produced by Zero Hour Bomb Company of Tulsa, OK, maker of electric time bombs for Oil Drilling. Zebco became an icon after the 1954 introduction of the Zebco 33 spincast reel, and to this day is the manufacturer of first-rate spincast reels.
