Overview

Made for tournament angling, the ALX IKOS Series Casting Rods are built with an emphasis on delivering outstanding performance and maximum angler value. Each IKOS Series rod begins with a low resin content OS Carbon Hydra rod blank. From there, each blank pattern is laid with consideration to multi-axis use and then precision rolled under intense pressure. This creates a compact carbon composite blank that shines at reading the lightest bites and delivering jaw-jarring power.

The IKOS rods are also matched to specific components to compliment the overall fishing package. Fitted with class-leading Z Series guides from Kigan, there are no other rods at this price point with such a high quality guide system. The split grip handles are also constructed from top-grade cork and trim pieces to deliver long life and maximum comfort. Carefully designed, tested and crafted by ALX Rods’ in-house team, the ALX IKOS Series Casting Rods are serious tools built for cashing checks on Saturday.

All rod warranties must go directly through ALX.

Backed by ALX’s Limited 1-Year Warranty

Comments: I bought a Hammer 73 in September (my 3rd ALX). I wanted to try a rod from their IKOS series, for an all-purpose heavy casting rod to use and abuse. I've fished it twice now, throwing baits above and below it's rating, and outside it's intended use, like an S-Waver 168. And I'm very happy with my purchase. $160 is a great price for a very good rod, rod built in-house (the blanks for the IKOS are built overseas), by a great company. The build quality and components are exactly what I expected, compared to the ZOLO Dream and ENOX Charmer I bought before this IKOS. And I like that ALX is very forthcoming about where they source their materials/components. Plus their customer service is great.

Comments: I work with the surrounding area kids fishing team. We have given away a ton of these IKOS rods to these kids for their accomplishments. We have given other brands and most of them fail with the abuse these kids can put on a rod. I can tell you that we have given away over a hundred over the past five years, and it's a testimony to ALX rods that the only ones the kids brought back to me with issues were the ones they left hanging out the car door. With 150+ kids over the years using these, they are without a doubt the most durable rods you can buy.

Comments: I bought the Ikos Promise 7 last year on Black Friday and I broke my PB (10.72lb) on this rod. I had it paired with a Shimano Bantom 8.1:1 throwing a Picasso Shock Blade Chatterbait. This rod is very sensitive and now it is my lightweight flippin rod. It is a little on the stiffer side but overall a great rod. It is very light weight and I really like the eva foam/ cork split grip handles. I think that really adds to the sensitivity. You won't go wrong if you buy this rod as a general purpose rod. It's a great buy IMO.

Comments: I started buying ALX rods because they were made in my home state of South Carolina. I learned how great of a product ALX was producing once I put them to use on the water. The IKOS Hustler is the smoothest rod I've ever thrown a crankbait on. The IKOS Hammer and Promise are everything I'll ever need for flippin and pitchin.

From: Jason: Walterboro, South Carolina 6/5/20

Comments:I have the Buzz 7 and the Hustler 7, both of these rods are top notch! They both are sensitive and lightweight, I do not get fatigued when I'm throwing a spinnerbait, swim jig, or bladed jig on the Buzz. The same goes for the Hustler, I do not get fatigued when I'm throwing a crankbait all day, I have also used this rod for jerkbaits.

Comments:I have been using the IKOS line of rods for a couple years now. For the price these rods are incredible! I have recently purchased a couple of the Shake 7 Spinning rods and I am amazed at the lightweight and sensitivity these rods provide. I have never liked a spinning rod with a long handle and this rod solved that problem for me.

Comments:I'd heard only good things about these rods, so I bought the 7'3" Promise... I like all my rods but this is a favorite of mine. It's capable of many presentations but it's become my go-to pitching rod for spring and fall bass, as it's great for lighter jigs. It'll also work well for bladed jigs when paired with fluorocarbon. Come late spring through early fall, it's my go-to for swimjigs, which I pair with 40-50lb braid around grass, and 17-20lb fluoro around hard cover. I've also found it perfect for presenting smaller frogs... These are my favorite ways to use the rod, but I've used it to catch bass on buzzbaits, lighter Texas Rigs, spinnerbaits, and small swimbaits. It's really an excellent all-around rod as a MH power and faster taper; it's light, balanced, sensitive, and the blank loads powerfully but smoothly. Most of my rods are in the $150-$200 range with a few in the $200+ range, and this might be the best for the coin. 5 year warranty too, but I've had no need to use...

Comments:Great rod for price point. I was a huge fan of the Zolo series, so I wanted to give these IKOS a try. I decided a few months ago to switch over from Loomis to ALX, and this IKOS Promise just proves I made the right move. If I had to find anything negative, Id say I prefer my hook holders underneath the rod. But the way it's designed, the line rarely if ever gets hung up in it. Great rod, great company, and made in the U.S.A.

From: Ryne 4/12/18

Comments:I have a hammer 7'3" and a promise. The promise is a great all around rod, one of the favorite rods I own. The hammer is great for pitching heavier jigs, c-rigs, and I like it for pitching beavers and other soft plastics. I usually buy St Croix rods, but I'm planning to buy more ALX rods based on the two I have.

Comments:AWESOME!!! The 7ft. Hammer is the best power/finesse rod ive had my hands on. Nice tip, tough backbone. Great for short flips to cover and on ur toes hooksets. 15lb. Fluro and 1/4 oz. Jig and these Kentucky Lake Largemouth dont stand a chance!!

From:Stone - Providence, Kentucky 12/25/17

Comments: Boy, where to start? I purchased the IKOS 73 Hammer and man I am blown away! Very light, very sensitive, great back bone and loads up perfect for a mile long cast! I have it paired with a Lews tournament MB and I couldn't be happier. I've been looking for rods that really met my standards and ALX has! Great price for this quality rod! With-in the next couple months, I WILL, have every one of my rods that I own switched to the ALX IKOS and ZOLO series rods. Great job ALX. Buyer for life!

From: Nelson: New Bern, NC 8/4/17

Comments:I own both the Thunder 76 and the soul seven and I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the power and sensitivity of these rods. They work for multiple techniques. I use the thunder for paddle tail swimbaits and flipping and I can truly tell you it has found its niche with those two techniques. As for the soul 7 it is an amazing senko/shakeyhead rod. These techniques are what I personally use them for but they are definitely capable of performing excellent with other techniques as well. If you are in the market for a new rod I would certainly have no problem recommending you this rod or any other rod in the ALX series. Hope this review helped have a nice day.

From: Toby - ID

Comments:I bought the "Promise 7" and I absolutely love it. Great sensitivity, exelent casting and backbone. I use it as kind of an all purpose rod but I found it is excellent for SLINGING chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. I have it paired with the tatula sv two and am super happy with it. I bought the combo over the winter and have already caught my new PB with it :)

From: Jon: Rochester, NY 4/28/17

Comments:I have 3 Zolo series and 3 of the IKOS Series and I couldn't be more satisfied with them. I have two Promise 73's. They are extremely versatile. I use them for soft swimbaits, swim jigs, chatter baits, skipping jigs, and even ripping traps off the bottom. These rods flat whip a big fish, large and smallmouth alike. The Soul 7 is a great all around middleweight spinning rod. I especially like it for larger jerk baits, shakey heads and heavier dropshotting. Light, strong and sensitive at a great price. What more could you ask for? The warranty replacement service is also great (don't ask!).

From: Mark: Hayden ID 2/27/17

Comments:Cant say that i have ever been happier with a rod purchase in my life. I was hesitant to drop that kind of cash on a rod but after i caught the first fish & it being a 6lber i couldn't have been happier. Durable, Sensitive & Light what more could you ask for.

From: Barrett: Easley, SC 3/13/16

Comments:These sticks are nothing short of legit. Hard to choose which is my favorite or "go to" in this series. Rods are more than capable of multiple presentations. Light, sensitive & affordable.

From: Steve: NC 1/6/16

Comments:Fantastic buy for the money! My ALX IKOS PROMISE 73 is an extremely versatile rod! Skip a Jig, Walk a Frog, or smash em with a chatterbait, the list just goes on and on. The fit and finish on the ALX is beautiful & they are a pleasure to fish all day! I HIGHLY recommend trying the PROMISE 73, you won't regret it.

From: Mick: Pelzer, SC 1/2/16

Comments:These are the first rods I would ever classify as "smooth." Whether casting, pitching, or any other technique these rods are sensitive and tough. All this and made in AMERICA too! Great rods great customer service, what else can you ask for.
