The top-of-the-line spinning reel in the Orra family, the Abu Garcia Orra SX Spinning Reel incorporates an ultra smooth nine bearing system and a sealed Carbon Matrix drag system for the best drag and functioning available. Its one-piece gearbox design also provides superior gear alignment for a smooth feel, and when paired with the reel’s corrosion resistant X-Craftic alloy frame, the Orra SX offers precision engineered durability and long lasting performance you just can't find in other spinning reels. The unique design of the machined, braid-ready spool allows braid to be tied directly to the spool without the use of a mono backing. An additional high capacity monofilament spool is also included with the reel. Born from Revo DNA, the Orra SX delivers performance and reliability that can only be engineered by Abu Garcia.

Additional Features:

-Duragear Brass Gear for extended gear life
-Everlast Bail System for improved durability
-Slow oscillation for even line lay with all types of line
-Stainless Steel Main Shaft and Components

Customer Reviews

Comments: Loved the reel when I first got it. Used it for the short part of a season and it lost a lot of smoothness. Today I went to go clean it and realized that many of the gears were already chipped. In addition, the gearbox is the stupidest design out of any spinning reel I have owned. My cheap reels have caught many more fish than this reel with no signs of internal wear. No more Abu spinning reels for me.

Comments: Part way through season no. two of owning this reel. The Bail wire separated from reel and would have been unfix-able if I didnt have my super glue with me. This is the second thing that has broken. I am hard on gear but I hardly even use my spinning gear, so this hasn't seen much use. Again I must confess Abu's older lower end stuff is still performing better than this reel.

Comments: I love my Orra SX.  I bought in the 30 size and matched it to a 6'6" ML Carbonlite rod.  I've fished this reel hard for a year and half now, and still no problems.  It's still smooth as silk.  The drag is awesome too.  The second time I've used it, I caught the largest bass of my life, a 7.5 lb. lunker that gave the drag a workout, but I landed no problem, even on 6 pound line. I also own the Revo Premier, which is also a good spinning reel, but honestly I think this reel is just as good for $100, instead of the $250 the Revo Premier costs.  It has many of the same features as the Revo, including the HPCR bearings that I'm hoping will really improve the longevity. The only negative thing I can say is the attractive braid ready spool you see in the pictures can't hold but about 90 yds. of line.  They do give a second spool with a larger capacity, but not nearly as nice as the one pictured.

Comments: Worst reel I've ever owned. Received as a gift and was excited to use! Spool basically fell apart after only 3 outings. Had issues w/ the spool jamming when reeled  before totally failing! For the money and the brand, I'd expect MUCH better! Not sure if I just got a lemon or what, but I was seriously disappointed with this one!

Comments: When I open the bail often time it wont engage. Also, it squeaks a lot while reeling. I am not a true believer in spending big money on spinning reels so this is the most expensive one I own, but it has the most flaws. My Abu Cardinals are more consistent, I just wish they had the drag that this Orra has because it is smooth as butter.

Comments: Awesome!! I got a 3000 for softplastics.i own 98 setups and this is my favorite spinning reel.smooth even drag and with the 9 corrosion resistant bearings its smooth as butter.ive caught numerous largemouths and peacocks on it with no problems whatsoever. Can't wait to catch a redfish on it!

Comments: I have the 48 size for a drop shot reel. Its awesome. I have 10lb braid on it, and does just fine. Holds up when im fighting fish in 60ft of water. The retrieve is smooth, the drag is smooth, and the look is smooth. Overall 9 of 10.
