Overview

Berkley's development of the Chigger Craw has once again raised the bar when it comes to realistic soft plastics. The Berkley Chigger Craw is designed to mimic a crawfish. The small appendages on both sides of the bait and the claws move through the water with a fluent lifelike action. The Chigger Craw can be effectively fished on a Texas Rig for flippin' or used as a jig trailer to bulk up the bait. The realistic texture and Powerbait scent impregnated into every Chigger Craw will give you the advantage the next time you are on the water.

Comments: These are my number one bait in the early summer thru mid summer, either on a jig head or my most productive way, Texas rig with a 3/16 weight. Green pumpkin and the goat are my best.

From: SCOTT: West Michigan 8/31/23

Comments: They work great with a stand up head for smallies or as a trailer to give it a bigger representation.

From: Unknown: 8/22/23

Comments: my favorite trailer for 1/4oz bitsy bug jig

From: gary: ohio 8/4/23

Comments: I've been using these bad boys since they came out.. They are by far my favorite for a jig trailer.. I've tried others but nothing has had the action like the old chigger crawl boys ... Try them on a chatter bait they will kill it....

From: Jason : 5/6/23

Comments: This is a great bait with just the right colors for the lakes that i fish! Love how it flows through the water and the fish can't resist them! I'll be buying lots more of these in the future!

From: Tim: TX 4/26/23

Comments: The 3" Chigger Craw has become my go to smallmouth jig trailer. Price wise they're not too bad, and if I find them on sale I really stock up. I usually use them on jigs from 1/16 up to 1/4 ounce, and they are killer. Green pumpkin or black blue are usually my top picks for color. The oversized claws on these thing flap like crazy, and really get bit. I like the bait to be a little more compact, and I typically trim off maybe a 1/4" or so, and peel off the small legs on the sides. The claws are thin though, and I do lose some baits to light biting fish that pick it up by the claws, so they get ripped on hook sets. The other issue is that after a few fish, the body will rip or split at the keeper on the jig. I've gotten to the point that once they rip, I toss them on the side and save them to be repaired later. I haven't found any problems with using Mend-it on the Power Bait, so I get multiple uses out of ripped baits. Overall, a great little trailer.

From: VinceD: Illinois 3/21/23

Comments: Really good as a jig trailer, or Texas rig, if they don't seem to want a jig!!

From: Jim: London, AR 3/16/23

Comments: Great plastic for flipping, pitching or adding as a trailer to jigs. The Goat color works particularly well on a black and blue jig.

From: Richard: Georgia 2/4/23

Comments: Use it for Texas rigging, Carolina rigging, or as a jig trailer. Works great and catches lots of fish!

From: Hayden: Michigan 11/13/22

Comments: Keep them on hand. Once they get bit, fish typically don't let go.. Allowing a little more time to get a good hook set.

From: Unknown: 1/29/22

Comments: Stinky lil bass morsels that work Texas rigged or as jig trailers. Versatility limited only by an angler's imagination.

From: Ash: Huntingdon, PA 11/19/21

Comments: I've been guiding for 11 years on Kentucky and Barkley lakes and these are my go to baits. In all water temperatures, it catches fish.

From: Barken guide service : Cadiz Kentucky 11/12/21

Comments: Other baits catch my wallet. Chigger Craws catch my fish.

From: Ken: Plainfield, IL 10/14/21

Comments: I've been using them for years. Green pumpkin and Ikes goat color are the 2 I use. I will add a little chartreuse dye if the water has to much stain. Texas rigged and on a 5/8 shakey head.

From: Barken guide service : Cadiz, KY 10/4/21

Comments: Tried this craw to compare against the Net Bait Tiny Peca Craw. I will stick with the Net Bait. Just doesn't roll as much as the Chigger Craw in the application I am using which is a homemade lite wire tokyo rig.

From: Scott: Powhatan, VA 9/17/21

Comments: The Berkley Chigger Craw is a great bait. I have been flipping these baits for at least 8 years. They are so versatile, I flip them under docks, in brush, or where ever I can flip. I also swim them back to the boat, to get a idea if the fish are striking moving baits. The claws have a great swimming action. There have been times when I catch just as many fish swimming this bait than flipping it. I have them in several colors but green pumpkin is my go to color.

From: Jon: Momence, Il 9/1/21

Comments: A mainstay in my tackle box. Ever since Boyd Duckett won a bassmaster classic on this bait, I've always had a good stock of them. Really happy to see a few new colors come out ( thanks Ike!) Awesome bait for a jighead, jig trailer, Tokyo rig, neko rig, but my favorite way to throw this guy is on a jika rig, super fun bait!

From: Unknown: Lansing, MI 8/18/21

Comments: I have caught more bass in So. Cal on these than virtually anything else. 4" Green Pumpkin, 4/0 EWG and 3/16 bullet weight. Texas rig it. Drag Drag, Hop. TUG TUG. BANG.

From: Larry: Southern California 8/7/21

Comments: These are one of the best for Flippin or as a trailer!

From: Erick: Connecticut 7/26/21

Comments: These are great for light flipping purposes or trailers for various lures! The 3" is smaller than you think. I've found that a 3/0 straight shank hook works best for the 3".

From: Unknown: Ventura, CA 7/2/21

Comments: Berkeley products are like No other, scientifically designed to put more fish in the boat and it exactly does that I fished a handful of colors of the Berkeley chigger crawl 3 in and 4-in size the durability the constant fish catching this product is something else it's definitely a must have in the boat whether you put it on a shaky Head or you match it with one of your jigs and do some flipping and pitching from the swimming claws to the scent that draws in the fish you will definitely catch that fish that is alluded you numerous times

From: Rob: Michigan 6/3/21

Comments: Can't go wrong with the Ike colors. the Goat and Grunge colors cover most scenarios. 4 inch for texas rigging and 3 inch is perfect size for a jig trailer. Definitely one bait I will always have a few packs of in my pack when im out fishing. The scent also helps fish hang on a bit longer and it's noticeable compared to non scented plastics.

From: Zack: Indiana 6/9/21

Comments: I like this better than the Crazy Legs version. I watched them in clear water and the antanae on the Crazy Legs don't do much but get in the way of the flapping legs. Strike Kings version of a craw like this has a ridge on the legs for more action, but side by side the legs on a Chigger Craw have just as much action, maybe more. And you get the added Berkley smell that fish love. Can't beat this fished alone or as a trailer.

From: Jim: Ferryville, WI 3/31/21

Comments: Whether you're throwing this craw on a Carolina Rig, Texas Rig, or using it as a jig trailer, it flat out catches fish.

From: Keith: Columbus, GA 3/18/21

Comments: Exellent bait.  Beyond the usual uses, try it on a swim jig.  Many bass have fallen for that.  Good sunfish imitator post spawn in candy color.  Early and late in the day, try black or blue/black.

From: Dean: Apple Valley, MN 3/2/21

Comments: I fish these all year on The Mississippi River in Wisconsin. Texas Rig it, put it on a Shakey Head or use it as a jig trailer, it works great. If you look at it in the water, you will see that those straight legs get to flappin' because of even a little bit of movement. I like this type better than the twister tail kind of legs. These legs work better with less effort. Bass do eat them and don't let go. And to the guys that say that they have never been bit using these, try fishing where the fish are. They'll eat it.

From: James: Ferryville, WI 2/27/21

Comments: Have not been bit on it . Think there is too much blue flake, I will not purchase it again.

From: Randy: Vista, CA 2/15/21

Comments: My go to craw. Tons of action, good simple profile, and great scent. Not terribly expensive and they come in great colors (watermelon candy for clear water and black and blue for stained).

From: Ryan: Texas 11/8/19

Comments: My favorite craw. Usually throw them Texas rigged, black and blue or black and red. Catch em all day but they don't last that long I feel like. 9 outta 10 for me.

From: Medo: Michigan 9/13/19

Comments: This bait is my go to bait when fishing the upper Mississippi River in MN. All the colors are fantastic. Texas rig this on a 1/4 oz VMC rugby head jig and just drag it on the bottom bumping those rocks. With the awesome powerbait scent, Smallmouth bass eat them really good.

From: Hue Lee: Saint Paul, MN 2/9/18

Comments: this is the best craw to use for a trailer or even a flippin bait i like to use it for jigs and swing heads, and mostly for bed fishing. go put ten in your cart and buy them they are a killer bait and i caught my pb on this 7.6

From: Reid: Maine 11/27/17

Comments: Great bait. I use the crazy legs chigger craw when the bass are in a more active mood. These are on sale at my Walmart for $2.00! They only have black&blue and green pumpkin colors but that's ok bc that's all I use.

From: Chris: Texas 9/2/17

Comments: One my favorite craws on the market right now. Fantastic jig trailer and just as good Texas-Rigged. Catches bass for me when the isn't even a single crayfish in the entire lake habitat. Just phenomenal. The legs get ripped off once in a while when a bass nips the pinchers but this craw is so good!

From: Unknown: 7/24/17

Comments: If going for Smallmouth, find some rock, put this on a shakyhead and slowly drag it through the rock. It will catch you fish even when the pressure is high. Not the most durable but will last a few fish no problem.

From: Gene: Minneapolis, MN 4/26/17

Comments: Not sure what the deal is but the quality has gone down.  There is a film of uncut extra plastic around all of the claws.  Someone did something wrong!  It's a shame because I love them, now they are crummy.  I thought it was a bad batch but it's all of them now.

From: AW: Indiana  12/13/16

Comments: This is by far my favorite bait. I use it as a trailer or just on a Texas rig & it catches a TON of fish! Absolutely amazing.

From: Age: NV 9/18/16

Comments: like this bait but have problems trying stay hooked up, I been using 4/0 fusion flipping hooks with this bait but seems to work well with are smallmouth with a mushroom jig, good stuff

From: Cndbass: Ontario, Canada 9/4/16

Comments: These craws straight up catch fish. From Wisconsin to south Carolina I have caught fish consistently. A little expensive and not very durable but they are definitely worth it for a good day of fishing.

From: Jack: Sumter, SC 6/10/16

Comments: I noticed that too with the claw size. I guess I'll have to buy the other version & remove 'crazy legs'. If anything, I wish they would have very slightly rounded the body of it and kept the claws the same. Btw these probly work fine but why mess with a good original design.

4/18/16

Comments: awesome craw! Only one I use other then maybe rage tail craws. Durable, nice action, and life like with great scent. What more could you want. I use it as a jig trailer mostly.

From: Zachary: OK 12/25/15

Comments: Such a fantastic bait on the back of a jig. I have caught more fish flipping jigs with a Chigger Craw on the back than with any other trailer.

From: Aaron: Spring Hill, TN 12/8/15

Comments: where to begin with this bait? It's all around a dominant bait! Not only can you use it as a Texas rig but it's a phenomenal trailer for jigs as well. All 3 sizes will produce big fish and all have there time to shine. If you don't own chigger craws in your arsenal it's time to change that!!

From: Wisconsin Angling Outdoors: WI 10/12/14

Comments: absolutely the best craw out there. Perfect balance of action size durability and looks. It's subtle yet tremendous action is quite natural and enticing too a bass(or whatever wants it). However the Zman Turbo Crawz is better as a trailer and as good as this craw in my very recent experience, and the Zman CrawdadZ is awesome too! But the chigger craw will remain my go to until I flip/punch the Zman baits

From: Jacob: IL 4/3/14

Comments: I love the Chigger Craw; this is my #2 plastic craw. Very nice action in the water and the 4" is the perfect size for hopping/dragging on the bottom with a Texas Rig. I only use the sapphire blue and it's caught me a lot of Bass. I can usually catch 3-4 bass per bait so I would consider it very durable. Plus it has the famous Powerbait scent. The only craw that is better is the Havoc Craw Fatty. But with both of those baits loaded up in my tackle bag there is no need for another craw. I will use this bait once the fish stop hitting the craw fatty. I guess you could consider this my mop up bait. Not sure what changes have been made with the 4" version; they appear prettying the same as the previous version? But try these; you won't be disappointed.

From: Gary: PA

Comments: These have changed. I just got a new pack and the claw design is bigger on 3" version. Dissapointed in the change as I wanted finesse and berkley decided to beef them up. Why change a good thing?
