Overview

The Daiwa Lure Retriever is the best tool for retrieving those favorite (and likely expensive) lure once they've become snagged. Simply slip the Daiwa Lure Retriever onto your line and let it slide down to your lure. The Lure Retriever's chains flail around your lure, snagging the hooks. Pull on the heavy cord and pop your lure loose. It's that simple!

Comes complete with 45' cord and storage reel.

Comments: Paid for itself in one day! After deciding that I wanted to learn how to fish swim baits, I bought several different lure retrievers (that attach to your line - not the long rod-type) in anticipation getting hung up in the boulders that inhabit our local lakes - they like to eat baits. As I predicted, I snagged my 10" Savage Gear trout, in about 20 feet of water. I tried the other lure retriever which does not have chains, and was unable to set the lure free (no knock on the other retriever - just not ideal for this situation). Then I tried this Daiwa retriever and with a little manipulation those chains latched onto the large treble hook and set the bait free! Ten minutes later I was hung up again (did I mention that I am new to fishing Swimbaits?) and once again the Daiwa came to the rescue! It saved me $50 in lost baits in just one day. I highly recommend it if you fish expensive baits in rocky areas like I described. I cannot comment on getting hung up on wood yet, but I am sure the day will come... I have also used the type that you slide down the line but which does not have an attached chain nor retrieval cord, and those have their place, but when it is mission critical I am glad to have the Daiwa in the boat. P.S. I was underwhelmed by the knot which tied the cord onto the metal ring (as others have mentioned), but I simply cut it off and tied a nice improved clinch knot - easy peasy. Also, the white cord looks a little cheap but so far it has gotten the job done without problem. Nice and soft so you can pull on it without cutting your hand.

Comments: Hands down would recommend this lure retriever to anyone! Don't skimp out and buy a cheap run of the mill lure retriever, invest your money right and get this one. I got snagged good with my brand new 8.5'" Hiroshima customs soft tail trout today that I just recieved the night before... and could not pop it off for the life of me. So I went into my bag and grabbed this Daiwa lure retriever and followed the simple instructions, attached it to my mainline and just let the retriever run down and it knocked my lure free without any damage to my lure and the chains did what they were meant for and wrapped around my hooks just incase I needed to pull it free. AGAIN, hands down best lure retriever. Simple to use and functions just like how you'll want it to. True life saver especially when you're playing with quality high end baits.

Comments:This thing is LEGIT! I seldom lose a deep diving crankbait anymore. The reel is a little awkward but who cares when you get all thos $15 cranks back! Get it, you will save a ton of $$$.

Comments:Works great and pays for itself quickly. I've gotten back tex rigs and shakeyheads, but it is best for baits with trebles. Just bounce the retriever from directly above until it snags and then pull. Much easier to work with two people, especially in the wind.

From: Unknonwn 2/19/18

Comments:Very difficult to feed the line into the retriever compared to more traditional lure retrievers.

From: Jeff - Fresno, CA 11/29/17

Comments:First time used one line eye fell out, the weight is not heavy enough especially in the wind. For $20 it should work much better. It may suffice for very shallow applications. I'm surprised Diawa would put their brand on it.

Comments:Best on crankbaits in brush piles. I broke the line on my first. Replaced the line on my second one with 500lb braid downrigger line. Works perfect now! They might want to upgrade the line. Ill try it to a cleat if I need too.

Comments: Alec, this is very hard to retreive from shore. You need to be able to get right over the cover to knock it off most the time. May want to get a kayak or inflatable to go out to your snags.

Comments:I have recently bought this item and it looks great exactly what I expected but I have tried it at least 15 times on different lures with a 0 success rate. Im sure if im not doing something right any tips? Also im primary a bank angler

Comments:This item works great. 3 full day of fishing after purchase. 32 try & recovered 28 times. It is paid for already. Highly recommended if you love to throw crankbaits. Worth it.

Comments:Flat out works and I've yet to lose a lure. I used to carry the homemade retriever consisting of sinkers on a large snap swivel but the Daiwa retriever is on a different level.

Comments:I've personally pulled over $500 worth of hardbaits, jigs, jigheads, and arigs back from the depths with this fantastic invention. If it's snagged really good just yank the chord a few times until a chain gets around one of the hooks. 95% success rate easily.

Comments: Love this product. Got a rare, out of production crankbait back the first trip I had it. Easily pays for itself and gives me a lot more confidence about throwing cranks into cover.

From: David: Austin, TX

Comments: This thing really works. If you are cranking in areas with a lot of structure its a must. I'm not afraid to throw an expensive crank into cover any more. If you can get over the snag 99% of the time you are going to get it back.

Comments: Great lure retriever. This guy has already paid for itself after pulling up a crankbait. Ordered it and had to use it within a week.
