Comments: I recently bought the Recon Elite H XF. It's a H power rod but it's more of a MH in Shimano Expride or Daiwa Tatula. It's got a dynamic tip and a great backbone. Super light, and super sensitive. The fit and finish is up there with MegaBass. If I had one thing I would change it would be cork instead of eva foam. My next Phenix will be the M1 in MH and the new Super Flipper. For the money and the quality you get they are hard to beat.

Comments: I recently picked up the 712 Recon Elite to pair with an Aldebaran 30 MGL. This is my 4th phenix rod. I own two maxims and an MBX. Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, soft tip (good or bad)  Cons: Sensitivity, balance, came with out of place guide. This rod has been pretty disappointing in terms of sensitivity to me as it seems to be the same as the maxim rods, which are close to half the price. It also doesn't balance particularly well, but that could be because the Aldebaran is unusually light. I also received this rod with the first guide being completely misaligned on the blank. This was quickly fixed and TW got it back to me incredibly quickly. I contacted Phenix and they told me that they always make sure their rods are good to go out of there factory and said it was a shipping problem but you can see that the guide wasn't damaged at all and it was poor manufacturing.

Comments: I purchased  the 764 heavy last year before they released the new generation, it broke about a foot from the top while casting a 1 1/8 oz swimbait , well with in the specs, but before it broke it took some abuse, I might have even stepped on it before I made the cast that broke it. None the less phenix replaced it under warranty, great customer service btw, so they send me one of the new generation recons and I am very pleased with all the improvements they did from the guides down to the epoxy, the quality is excellent. I use this rod for small swimbaits, wakebaits, and big top water. Anyway get a phenix recon you won't be disappointed, I will be buying more

Comments: I have the 7'1" MH, and it is honestly quite tip heavy.  Don't use a sub 7 oz reel with this rod and you should be okay.  This rod does seem extremely durable though.

Comments: After several fishing trips, this rod is a beast. Light weight tough and it's performance is spot on!

Comments: I got the 7'1" H for jigs, texas rigs, and some umbrella rig use.  It feels to me closer to MH but that's fine by me.  The action is great and overall quality is good for the price.  I paired it with an old Core 101 and I feel it is slightly unbalanced though.  Great rod and I will be looking at more Phenix stuff in the future.

Comments: I got the 764, by far the best $200 rod I have ever put my hands on. Amazingly sensitive for how durable it is and it feels lighter than air.  Paired it up with a lew's BB1 Pro for swim jigs primarily but the sensitivity makes it so versatile.  I've used it for everything from lipless crank baits to punching with 1oz. jigs. I was gonna get a castaway rod but changed my mind to this and I couldn't be happier.  Everything about this rod is top notch from the grips and reel seat to the guides to the carbon fiber finish on the bottom half, seriously amazing. I've had rods from Abu Garcia, Fenwick, Lew's, Shimano and Daiiwa and this one puts them all to shame. I will never buy a different brand rod again. Next one will be the 796 for heavy punch rigs and big swimbaits. Every time I pick this rod up I stop and admire it's quality for a good 15 seconds. Call me weird but it's just that nice.  If you don't buy this rod for your next setup, YOU'RE WRONG! Seriously though  get one.

Comments: Phenix has really stepped it up with the elites. I have the 713 and 714. They are very durable, sensitive and can stand up to the punishment of the salt chasing big spotties in the bays. I would highly recommend these over the m1 series

From: Daniel: San Diego 3/24/17

Comments: Just picked this rod up a couple days ago, going to buy the calcutta 200d to pair with it but for now I have a calcutta 50te on it. Super sensitive rod, I have fished strictly gloomis rods my whole life and recently bought a phenix rod for calicos and was so impressed I bought this for bass fishing. Super impressed with this rod, super lightweight and very sensitive

From: Drew: Thousand Oaks, CA 3/21/17

Comments: Used this rod for about 7 casts and the handle broke just underneath the reel. Hopfullly I'll get a replacement soon. Other than the handle braking it seems like a good rod.
