Overview

The YUM Dinger was designed to be fished in a variety of ways. Texas rigged, wacky style and even pitched into heavy cover. This soft plastic bait presents a very subtle life-like action that even highly pressured fish can't resist. YUM Dingers have a unique hook slot that provides better hook-ups and are heavily salted, contain Live Prey Technology, are a better value and don't tear up as fast as the competition.

Previous Feedback

Comments: People give the yum dinger a bad wrap saying it's not worth using because it doesn't have a lot of salt. That's the advantage!! Salt is goo in baits but the power of the dinger is it floats better that all the other stick baits. Plus it almost hovers in front of fishs' faces and they bite. The yum dinger does everything I want a bait to do. It's pretty durable, cheap and it works. What more do you want?

From: Elijah: Rome Georgia 9/10/23

Comments: The Yum Dinger is my go to bait when things are tough and when they are not. It can be rigged in a few different ways, I prefer Texas Rig- The Yum Dinger has a built in hook slot and with the correct size hook, you will catch bass without even setting the hook sometimes. It comes in many colors, I prefer the June Bug which works very well in my area.

From: James: Keithville, Louisiana 6/4/23

Comments: I caught fish on it but I would rather use something else then this. They are cheap and durable but they have little action. They also smell good.

From: Isaac: Minnesota 12/20/22

Comments: Let's settle this: If you are on a budget, going to go through a LOT of baits in a day, want a lighter weightless bait, and don't mind less action on the fall than a Senko, fish a Dinger. If you need the subtle shimmy or extra weight of a Senko, fish a Senko. They are both good, but one is not better than the other.

From: O'billy: 11/8/22

Comments: I'm not gonna debate whether these are as good as Senko's or not; its matter of opinion, some say yes and some say no. I'm budget minded and when i can get twice as many for the same money plus durability is better with Dingers BY FAR, and while Senkos may have some incredible colors, so do dingers. I like to drop-shot the 3", shaky head the 4" and wacky the 5" and 6". Also Texas rig works great with this too. Texas rig em weedless and work em over pads and slop works like dynamite.

From: Jamie: IN 8/17/22

Comments: I've used the Yun Dingers for about 2 years now, on a wacky rig. I just hook them right through the bait, it has a slow fall which I really like. I catch fish with these when I can't catch them on anything else. I usually keep about 20 bags on the boat at all times, favorite one is watermelon candy, its the only one I buy!!

From: Darrell: Chesapeake, VA 8/26/21

Comments: These catch fish any and everywhere. I usually wacky rig the 4 on a Gamakatsu octopus hook and theyre my favorite creek/river smallmouth bait. Caught my PB smallie this year on one. The 5 rigged Texas style on an EWG worm hook weightless is great around cover too for largemouth in lakes. The 3 is awesome on small creeks for rock bass, sunfish, and smallmouth. Favorite colors are watermelon seed and watermelon red flake, but like green pumpkin chartreuse in dirtier water. Only drawback is they dont last very long. I just bought an o-ring tool and some o-rings to test out, but rigged through the bait wacky style they may last 2-3 fish on average. A lot of times fighting a fish they will be ripped from the hook and go airborne. Small price to pay IMO for such an inexpensive bait that is my #1 fish catcher.

From: CS: Kentucky, 8/21/21

Comments: I have been fishing these for two years wacky rigged in sticks and brush on 1/16 ounce flick-it jig heads. Bass love them, and they are very versatile, but I do not find them to be as durable as other reviews indicate. They often break off on the first fish and sink quickly so you can rarely recover them.  A great bait for sight fishing in shallow water coves.

From: Jay: Phoenix, Arizona 4/9/21

Comments: The yum dinger basically just catches fish. Now i don't know if it is as high-quality as yamamoto senkos because i have never tried them (because i never really needed to) I like these better than the googan lunker log because they are way more durable and you will get 2+ fish at least out of one worm. Factor in that they are crazy cheap and 8 come in a pack, you get about 20-25 bass for 2-3 dollars. Go to colors are green pump., and watermelon red flake

From: Daniel: Minnesota 4/6/21

Comments: If I could only use one bait for the rest of my life, I'd chose the 5" Bama Bug Yum Dinger without hesitation. Catches bass in any water/weather conditions.

From: Spencer: Alabama 3/8/21

Comments: Great durability. Caught a 9 lb 5oz and still had two more fish until it had to be replaced. Oxblood red flake is the way to go in clear water.

From: Unknown 3/5/21

Comments: They are Super oily and don't have a lot of action stay with Gary if you can afford it.

From: Unknown: 1/27/21

Comments: This is my go to senko i have used yamamoto and bps stick-o's but these are my favorite overall the durability is way better than yamamoto and stickos so thats a plus and also they don't have much salt so i also belive that gives it a slower falling action so its more fineness approach and i like it better so yeah my go to.

From: Josh: chicago, illinois 12/18/20

Comments: These are a little stiffer than senkos, but most (not always) of the time it doesn't seem to make a difference and they are MUCH cheaper. I prefer these for wacky rigging, as their stiffness helps them bounce back better when twitched. The 4" works great in clear water on a Ned head. If you want to have some fun, throw a 4" on a 1/16 oz crappie jig on an ultralight rod. Works wonders on tough days.

From: Ryan: Little Elm 9/10/20

Comments: Great value bait! Doesn't appear to fall as fast or with the action of a Senko, but catches loads of bass, Texas or wacky rigged. Yum Dinger is extremely durable, making it a great choice.

From: Redgoby: Ohio 5/25/20

Comments: Been using YUM since I was a broke 12 yr old. Now many years later, though my pockets are healthier, I still use their products. This is my favorite stick bait. Not a Senko but the action's still there and they do a great job with all the color options. Ultimately a bass will hone in on any worm between 4" - 6", but its nice to tailor to your preferences. Black/BlueFlake, Watermelon RedFlake, and Mardi Gras are some of my go to's. There's beauty in simplicity, and its so nice that such a simple bait can be so versatile. I'm mostly a reaction fisherman but I always keep these around; any body of water at all times!

From: Unknown: New York 5/21/20

Comments: My set up for the Yum Dinger is hook up with a size 3/0 Gamakatsu finesse hook wacky rigged style and tied on 10lb fluorocarbon line. St.Criox 6'6 MH fact action rod paired with stradic ci4 3000 reel. The perfect finesse set up. Why this set up is so effective is because the weight of Dinger, light hook, small line all created a very slow sinking worm but with a shimmy. Works very great around 1-15ft of water. Any active or inactive bass would see a slow jigging or shimmy worm as a super easy bait to eat. Works great around flats, edge or pockets of lily pad, rock drop offs, docks and any edge of heavy cover. Let it slow sinking next to cover or lily pad and giants will come out. I wrote all those because I really believe in this bait and would want anyone to try it out and have fun too. I put this bait onto my wife or the kids rod and they will catch as many as me. The best thing about this bait is that it takes no skills to retrieve and jig the worm but still catches quantity and QUALITY fishes!

From: John C: Minnetonka, MN 11/5/19

Comments: I started using 5" Yum Dingers about a year ago mostly on an Owners shaky head hook. It is now my go to bait and have caught more large mouth bass on that set up than any other. Our main color on clear water and against the big rocky ledges is Elders Magic, but had great success with other colors also. Try em!  You'll be hooked on this combination.

From: Gene: Lake Travis, TX 6/13/19

Comments: Wacky-rigged Yum Dinger using a Gamakatsu g-finesse wacky jig head has put more fish in my boat than all other baits combined including some of my biggest fish. Pay 2 to 3 times as much for others that won't catch more or as many as the dinger if you like, I'll buy other tackle with my extra money. Color selection is great, black/blue laminate and junebug is all you need here in the tidal system of northeastern NC. If I could fish only one bait year round a 5" wacky-rigged dinger wouldn't have any competition! Nuff said.

From: Bill - North Carolina 4/3/19

Comments: Yum Dingers are AWESOME!  I've tried other brands, even more expensive ones, and i really can't see or tell a difference.  Junebug, Watermelon /Red, Bream, adn Blue Fleck are my personal favorites.   I like using em on Wacky/Neko rig but my favorite is on a Big Bite Baits Shakey Head jig, AMAZING!!

From: Unknown 2/2/19

Comments: I absolutely love using these 4" Watermelon seed for drop shot and they destroy bass. One of my top go to drop shot baits period.

From: Alex - Olney, IL 12/26/18

Comments: Good lures, good price and movement on the fall. Texas rigged with nail style weights if fishing deeper these things just plain work. Up north I love the rainbow trout color along with summer gill and camo. Fish tend to hold on to them longer.

From: Unknown - Maine 12/4/18

Comments: I get more bites Texas rigged with the Carolina pumkin chartreuse tail then any other color, brand, or rig. End of story. I prefer yamamoto green pumkin, yum green is not as vibrant And yes yum sinks slower, doesn't sink at all actually the hook and weight make it sink they themselves float.

From: Brandon: Maine 8/30/18

Comments: Switched from yamamotos due the fact that i fish every day and it gets expensive. Since the switch i have now stocked up on these..the bass just inhale these baits..
Caution, dont take them out of the package and put them in a zip lock baggie. I did this to save space since i have 10+ bags on hand..well they will (as other soft baits will) eat away at the plastic.. it gets messy
Pros: many color options / Price and durability
Cons: ? Leave them in there bags before you use them

From: Unknown - 5/25/18

Comments: YUM's colors in my opinion are superior to Yamamoto, also to achieve a better fall rate wacky style, use the eco-pro tungsten wacky weight. The 1/32 ounce works best and it really helps the bait to quiver on the fall without being too quick.

From: Stephen - Fort Smith, AR 4/20/18

Comments: No quiver action on the fall, green pumpkin looks terrible. The strike king worm is a much better option if you cannot afford the senko; but these don't hold up no salt all plastic. Don't listen to the reviews they're most likely fake

From: Jay: MA 4/12/18

Comments: No way do these fall like a Senko. I JUST went out and compared them after reading the reviews here. Wacky and Texas rigged. These slow fall like a Senko shaped slab of plastic, sure, but that is it. Yeah, that will get bites too sometimes, and I have caught fish on Dingers but not like on Senkos. And for the ned rig guys, hey, save money and buy these. But again, there is no subtle Senko-like shimmy on the fall with Dingers. I'm sure I'll get bashed by Senko haters but whatever.

From: Jay6 3/27/18

Comments: I have used many a stick bait, from brand name to brand name.  I like the Dingers a lot.  Great colour and size selection.  Also that added with a paddle tail or a worm tail, makes then even better.  I have a hard time spending money other stick baits when the Yum Dingers hold up just as well as other brands.  You can't beat the price either.  I have seen where they only last a couple of fish but so does other brands as well.

From: Jeff: Canada 1/25/18

Comments: These things just catch fish. However you fish them, you're going to catch something. Good action you want in a stick bait, and also very durable compared to others.

From: Aaron: Burlington KY 1/19/18

Comments: Have to say that personally I prefer the 5" Yum Dinger over the Sinko. The Mardi Gras pattern absolutly slays bass in the Spring here in Colorado, and is my go to stick bait. Anything that has a green pumkin coloring tends to work as well for bass. Texas rig this bait with a 4/0 hook and you will be good to go!

From: Ed - Colorado, 12/27/17

Comments: Amazing lure for the price, way more durable than senkos and are nearly half the price. I've caught many pike  largies and smallies on them and they don't fall apart, I would definetly recommend

From: Jackson: Illinois 12/26/17

Comments: This is an amazing soft plastic!!! I have used this in Idaho and Washington, worked great, caught my pb on it while using it on a Ned rig. Forget the Yamamoto senkos and get these. Definitely worth it for the price. Doesn't have as much wobble as the Yamamoto senkos, but I've only caught perch with those.

From: Ryan - Washington 12/6/17

Comments: I owe my pb bass to this bait, and it's great and a fraction of the price of the Gary Yamamoto senkos. Ned rig, Texas rig, wacky rig.... It works on them all! Yum is an amazing brand and can't wait to try more amazing products!!!

From: Unknown - Washington 12/5/17

Comments: Singer seniors same thing there all just cheap basically a cheap way to catch bass if u suck at fishing I definitely do t recommend

From: Unknown 11/27/17

Comments: Great stick bait! My go to stick bait just for the price. Much cheaper (although less durable) than the Senkos. I love the green pumpkin chartreuse tail color. My fall back whenever the fishing gets tough

From: G-Man Outdoors - Texas 10/30/17

Comments: I love using these soft baits. I'm 21 and in college so I'm balling on a budget... now trust me Yamamoto Senkos are really soft and have great action, but you really only can catch one fish per worm. These worms are not as soft, but they are a lot stronger. I have a caught four fish on one all black worm this past spring, so they hold up. I have had no problems getting bites on Yum Dingers for a long time now.

From: Austin: New Jersey 10/23/17

Comments: This bait is awesome! Caught a 7.50 pounder on it yesterday. Texas rig, weightless texas rig, carolina rig, wacky rig... this bait does it all. The baits last a long time but still have a great action. The fall on weightless presentations has a sweet side to side motion, like a feather falling in the air. Pair it with a trapper hook and watch the magic. Perfect for introducing kids to fishing and for catching the kicker in a tournament!! 10/10

From: Wesley: Central 10/11/17

Comments: These are a great bait I have fished them for not even a month now and caught more fish then I did with any other baits I bought them because they were cheap and they worked like magic on the wacky rig.

From: Remington: Cumberland, WI 6/1/17

Comments: These rank up to senkos, better... they are the best product for the best price. Do not be afraid to buy these products! The color and design is great! They stay on your hook better than senkos!

From: Dylan: Minnesota 5/30/17

Comments: 'm telling you right now: hands down, these are the best overall choice for wacky rigging on the market. Sure, senkos are great too, and we wouldn't have dingers without Gary Yamamoto's influence, but I am convinced these baits are just as good. You can buy 30 dingers for the price of one bag of senkos, and they will last longer to boot. Fish hold on a little longer on the senko, but are you really willing to pay an extra 6 dollars per bag for a second longer of hold time? You can make your own choice, but I am going to stick to my dingers. Here in WV, you can't beat a 4 inch watermelon red flake dinger wacky rigged on a 2/0 Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse hook. I owe my top 10 largemouth bass to the dinger, and I will stand behind them forever.

From: Drew: Colliers, West Virginia 4/27/17

Comments: For my personal opinion I think yum dingers are the best bait for the price and for a young fisherman they are the perfect price for someone that does not want to spend 7 dollars on a pack of senkos.

From: Graham: Lafayette, LA 4/3/17

Comments: The STX is my go to jerk bait here in Va.. For the price its a slam dunk even though you might have to change to heavier hooks. I put a feathered treble on the back hook and it suspends very well when using 10 lb. fluorocarbon. I stay with the larger size here because of all the pickerel you have to contend with.

From: Bryan: Poquoson, VA 2/13/17

Comments: I've noticed a number of comments regarding the lack of shimmy/wiggle on the fall.  That may be true, but I use the 5" Yum Dinger for horizontal presentations such as dragging it through rocks in 4-5 feet.  Use whatever stick bait your prefer for a vertical presentation but for a horizontal presentation I'll take the Yum Dinger every time because they are the most durable stick bait going no matter the bag cost.

From: Mike: Aurora, IL 1/19/17

Comments: These are a good Senko-style bait for the price, but it just doesn't have the same action or softness. It also has that stupid hook slot which is really annoying as it barely conceals your hook. You just can't beat a Yamamoto Senko. This is still good if you don't want to spend 7 dollars a pack on Senkos.

From: Max: Weston 1/13/17

Comments: Where do I start with this bait... This is my go-to for new, and old, ponds. For me, I love sight fishing largemouth with a wacky rigged dinger. Sure, senkos are good too, but for the price, you can't beat these. I've caught my two biggest LMB's on these guys and I don't plan on putting them down. They are a real killer in the summer. Why are you still reading this review? BUY THEM NOW!

From: Drew, West Virgina 1/4/17

Comments: When it comes to wacky rigging these are just as good as senkos. Only drawback is the lack of color selection these have compared to senkos. The price makes these even better. You could buy 3 bags of 5" dingers for just a dollar more than 1 bag of 5" senkos. Plus these last a heck of a lot longer than senkos. My 4 favorite colors in order are smoke pearl laminate, black blue flake, pumpkin pepper green flake, and cranberry.

From: Jon: PA 9/8/16

Comments: In my experience Dingers are much better than Yamamoto senkos, they are cheaper, more durable & in my opinion have better action.

From: Spot: OH 9/5/16

Comments: Senkos are good but for the money dingers are way superior. I average about 2.5 fish per bait. Buy 2 bags of dingers instead of one bag of senkos & catch a ton of fish.

From: Zac: Franklin, KY 8/8/16

Comments: They aren't dense enough to fish weightless wacky-style. They sink way too slow & don't have much action. They are durable however.

From: Dan: NE 8/6/16

Comments: I caught my first 5 pounder on this today on the green pumpkin color. I ended catching 7 bass on the same Dinger and I could catch more but the day was over. It was wacky rigged with no o-ring just hooked through the the meat of the plastic. I will buy more there great lures.

From: Zane: Hambleton, WV 6/7/16

Comments: This bait is so not durable at all. That's not to say it doesn't catch fish. The bait is a bass catcher that's for sure but the durability is flat out cheap. It gets ripped very easily. Let me put it this way. "one bait one fish." Sometime, it gets ripped even when you don't get fish. Catch fish but doesn't last long. You get what you pay for.

From: Brian: CA 5/31/16

Comments: they don't flutter on the way down like the senkos do.

From: Drew: Dothan, AL 5/27/16

Comments: I use them as my senkos. I used to take the yamamotos & the trigger X here in Canada, but the trigger x are huge & the yamamotos doesnt sink well. I can buy two packs of 5'' Yums instead of one yamamoto. Now I only have to go for the other brands for some specific colors like pink.

4/19/16

Comments: The yum dinger is one of the best sinko type baits around, they last a long time & they are cheap. Wacky rigging, or Texas rigging, this is the bait for it all! Fish them year around.

From: Brayden: Henderson, TX 3/14/16

Comments: Good color selection, I like the junebug & watermelon candy. These are good on a texas rig & I've even had luck with them on a shaky head. I prefer the yamamotos when weightless wacky rigging. A solid bait for fishing for fun, but when the the catches matter I would go with the senkos

From: JB: VA 1/19/16

Comments: Awesome bait! I throw Texas rigged with a 1/4 ounce weight & its lethal after cold fronts, all the stages of the spawn & even in winter dead sticking it. I highly suggest it!

From: Zack: OK 12/15/15

Comments: This spring and summer has been really tough. The local lake just wasn't producing, nor any other lakes in the region. Until I started using these. Since then, it has been the best fishing I have ever experienced. Caught 25 bass the first day out with these. This past week I decided to try them at another lake & I absolutely slaughtered the bass. I'm not talking small ones either. I'm talking nice 3 to 7 pound bass!!! I use the 4" length in Smoke Pearl Laminate. I find that it imitates a shad pretty well. I also use the Watermelon Pearl. I can power fish it or crawl it across the bottom, although I prefer to bottom fish it. Put it on a 4/0 shaky head & pull it through cover on the bottom. The bass can't resist it! And yes, these are better than Senko's!

From: Jason: Cape Giradrdeau, MO 7/26/15

Comments: I've done the swimming pool test with Dingers vs. Senkos and the quivering action is exactly the same, regardless of what the Senko folks tell you. The only difference is that the Dinger sinks slightly slower than the Senko and is MUCH more durable yet half the price of Yamamoto. Sure the Senko comes in a lot more colors, but most of those colors are for catching fishermen, not fish.

From: Alan: Adairsville, GA 6/22/15

Comments: I have caught tons of bass on these lures, mostly the 4 inch size, but I've fished these & senkos & although the senkos have a better wiggle on the fall unless im fishing in really tough conditions I opt for dingers 90% of the time. Green pumpkin with chartreuse tail and green pumpkin red are killers.

From: Zane: OK 6/8/15

Comments: These are my go to all around worm bait. I use them to Texas rig and wacky rig. They are very durable and hold up very well when catching multiple bass on the same worm. My favorite colors are Junebug, Watermelon Red, Mardi Gras although I don't see Mardi Gras as a color anymore so I'm not sure if they discontinued them or not. You can also get them salted which I do enjoy to use from time to time.

From: Mitch: Brownsburg, IN 5/13/15

Comments: This bait is just okay. I don't agree, senkos are much better IMO. Senkos feel more natural to me and the fish I'm sure. Dingers are stiffer and don't sink as fast. They are more durable, but I've had much better success with senkos.

From: Mark: Spokane, WA

Comments: These are probably just as good as Senkos and much cheaper.  When I have fished with my wife I give her a dinger and I'll use a senko (if I'm throwing a whacky rigged worm).  It is pretty much even as far as number of fish caught.  It used to be a confidence thing for me with senkos but this year I plan on using up some of the packs of dingers I have as I don't plan on buying anymore of these types of baits this year...I have too much tackle as it is.

From: Harry: Ontario

Comments: Buy this. Its the best stick bait out there and it's cheaper than senkos. Caught my biggest bass on this worm.

From: Ian: Longview, TX

Comments: I've been using these worms for probably about a year now and they have proven to be great producers. I've caught a few bass over 5 pounds here on Lake Norman, and it's fairly hard to catch one that big down here. This is probably one of the best postspawn bait i've used, especially when the bass are shallow and feeding on blue gill and bream.
