Overview

The ZoneLoc Octopus Drop Shot Hook features a highly innovative, multi-patented, hook design that is a true break through when it comes to hook-up ratio and fish retention.  There are a few key features, which make ZoneLoc’s cutting-edge hook technology possible. First, it features a unique offset main bend just below the barb that keeps fish in the main bend or “sweet spot” of the hook like no other hooks on the market. The offset main bend design greatly increases fish retention by also protecting fish from the barb of the hook, which is a common problem with fish retention on standard hooks. The extremely sharp barbs can and will cut a bigger hole in a fish’s jaw, allowing them to slip off the end of the hook.

Another key feature of ZoneLoc hooks is the shorter distance between the hook point and the main bend or “sweet spot” of the hook. This allows fish to dump into the main bend of the hook faster than with normal hooks despite the offset main bend design - for lightning fast hooksets. The ZoneLoc Octopus Drop Shot Hook is perfect for any type of finesse application, including drop shot, split shot, or wacky rigs.

Comments: Awesome hook! I use it for drop shoting for largemouth as well Carolina rigging in the surf on west coast beaches. Hook is sharp and stays sharp and the fish stays on as advertised, even in heavy surf.

Comments: I've spent quite a bit of time now with the octopus drop shot hook... I've probably caught over 200 fish with it and used it in tournament situations. That little bend works as advertised, and the hooks are very strong. I tend to use a #1 or #2 in most situations when nose hooking.. If Texas rigging I use an offset hook. But for the most part I've relied on a # 2. I catch big smallmouth with these hooks (4 and 5 + ). The only negative I can really say about the hooks is they dull very quickly and are not as sharp rate out-of-the-box as some of the competitive products. I usually change the hook out every 5 fish or so. I'm not referring to dulling the hook via snagging. They just seem to get dull on the fish's mouth. I don't tend to horse my fish alot so the strength of the hook seems in line with my style of fishing. The bottom line is I recommend this hook with the caveat that you keep an eye on the point as they seem to dull quicker than some of the competitive products. That little bend I think makes a difference in keeping the fish pinned once you've penetrated their mouths with that small hook.
