Overview
Phenix Rods has been reborn with their rich rod building history still intact. Their steep bass fishing tradition is carried forward with the Ultra MBX Casting Rod Series, which offers bold new stylings and materials. The Ultra MBX blanks are constructed with high modulus graphite and carbon fibers woven together in a unique process that allows them to remain lightweight, while also providing enhanced sensitivity with plenty of fish pulling strength.
All Ultra MBX rods feature Phenix's very own specially designed reel seat. This reel seat allows you to feel the blank directly for increased sensitivity. Additionally, the way the blank lines up with the reel seat elevates your palm for ergonomic comfort and increased casting accuracy. Premium components, such as Fuji SiC Guides and a split grip handle (for maximum touch and sensitivity), solidify the Phenix Ultra MBX Casting Rods as rods to be reckoned with.

Comments: Purchased the 7' Light power model, a rare model indeed. After receiving it, notice that the trigger is a simple plastic resin form, very cheap. The locking nut is very basic as well and after mounting a reel onto it, noticed that there is quite a bit of threads showing in the forward of it. The rod blank has the right feel and flex to it, that's the best thing. After threading line through the guides and giving it a quick flex load test, noticed that there was a lot of line rub onto the blank. Looked closer and saw that the line guide rings are flushed down onto the blank right where you need it most to stay off. This is terrible concept and totally opposite of what one would expect on a baitcasting rod. If you own a prior generation, they are very beautiful rods in components and appearance. These current ones are like a pale shadow.

Comments: I purchased the 7'7" Heavy for a jig rod and lets just say I found my new favorite. I wanted a rod that would load nicely on fish of all sizes and for fish 1lb and up it does just that not to mention it is super sensitive. I would put it on par with the loomis IMX lineup I have previously used. Great rods!

Comments: I have the 700MH Super strong very versatile and really sensitive

Comments: Have had the 700H for about a month now. Casts great, extremely sensitive, and have not had a single issue with any component on the rod. I love it, it's my go to rod. The problem will come when I buy another. I won't know which one to use first. I switched over from Dobyns and Shimano. Give Phenix a try, you will not be dissapointed.

Comments: Bought the 7' MH, the rubberizing on the trigger started to flake off after the fist time I used it. The rod looks really nice and is very light. Not worth the money

Comments:Picked up the 7'XH and the trigger portion of the handle came loose. There was very little epoxy holding it on. I thought it must have been a fluke, but it happened on all 3 replacement rods I got. I finally just epoxied it back in place myself. Otherwise a nice rod.
