Comments: The springs on mine rusted and broke after only 2 years.

Comments: For guys having problems with stainless hardware seizing, lubricate threads with something, such as never seize.

From: Unknown - 11/11/17

Comments: I love the buckles, but I have to concur with others who complained about the stainless steel bolts. The nut seized up about a 1/3 of the way down the bolt. Seems to be a common problem. Go ahead and order these, just make a run to your local hardware store to get better bolts.

Comments: Package was received with one 7/16 lock washer missing.  Not TW's fault...I think it's packaging.  Didn't have any at home.  Good thing Ace Hardware is close by... Home Depot didn't have anything except standard 3/8, 5/16, and 1/2....no 7/16.  Grabbed another box of 7/16.
As for the bolts seizing, the thread tightening and self-locking is by design.  There is a note on the page:  "Please Note: Bolts in mounting hardware are designed to lock as you tighten them. You will need two open end wrenches to fully tighten."
These types of locking bolts need to be tightened very slowly, like a quarter to half turn at a time.  Otherwise, if speed tightening or using power, the speed and heat generated can inertia weld the nut to the bolt threads and cause the seize.  Also, as a suggestion, take a small bit of grease and just swipe a thin line down the threads.  I'm not sure, but I think this concept is both for ensuring the nuts will not back out and also for added security, making it difficult for low-life thieves to steel these costly straps.  I've had friends who have had various parts of their trailers stolen.
As for the performance of these, I haven't had mine on the road yet but they installed in about 40 mins (again, with regular nuts/bolts, could've done it in 10, but needed to go slow).  The overall working functions are great, ratchets, releases, and retracts with a strong pull.  I put two extra nuts on mine and rounded the corners.  If I have to take them off, I'll use vise grips.  May be overkill to some, but I've had both my truck broken into and trailer parts taken while out on the CA Delta.

Comments: The buckle part works great.  The hardware provided is junk.  The nut tightens about halfway then seizes up and the flanges on the nut start getting filed down resulting in you between a rock and a hard place.  Can't get it on and can't get it off.  If you buy these plan on going to the hardware store and buying 2, 1 1/2 " 7/16" bolts and 2 7/16" nuts. Get some locking split washers and you will be in business.  I have used these before for 8 years on another boat and never had a problem.  Just don't use the hardware provided.  I notified the company and they said they are "looking into it" which means they are doing nothing.

Comments: Good product but the SS bolts they provide with locking nut is junk. Cannot tighten more than 2-3 turns before it seizes on the bolt. If you buy them, pick up some Grade 8, 7/16 x 1-1/2 bolts, washers, lock-washers, and nuts. Had to use a monster ratchet and wrench to finally get the first one off. Please note that I did not cross-thread the bolt. I think it is the lock-nut and not the bolt, but whatever I am not putting anything on with them. Cost about $7 for the replacement hardware.

Comments: This is the only way to tie down the transom of your boat. Quit fighting your Rod Buckle transom straps and get these. You will not be disappointed. The boat ramp has enough stresses, don't let this be one of them.

From: Brandon: CA

Comments: These might seem a little high priced but are well worth it. Super fast and secure and saves time on the ramp and no more pinched fingers...

From: Dustin: Shreveport, LA

Comments: Strapping the boat down does not get any quicker or easier than this. A+ product.

Comments:  I was recently in a serious wreck hauling my Triton 19 explorer on the Florida Turnpike. A truck swerved into my lane and slammed on the brakes. Approximately one second after applying my brakes I smashed into him at 60 mph the entire front support of my trailer broke off including the 4 bolts that secure the U bolts. The Motor toter broke in half and the boat slid approximately two feet on the bunks. These straps are all that held the boat on the trailer. The Trooper told my buddies if not for these straps the boat would surely have crashed through the back window of my truck or flipped on top of us. Thank you for a Great product!!!!
