Designed to do things no other lipless crankbait can, the Spro Essential Series Aruku Shad Lipless Crankbait is uniquely made to lock on to the bottom in a nose-down position during the retrieve - making it look like an actual feeding shad moving along the bottom. Specifically designed for fishing through aquatic vegetation, its nose-down action makes it one of the most weedless lipless crankbaits on the market. Life-like finishes, including etched scale patterns and 3D eyes add to the Aruku Shad’s realistic presentation, and its super loud rattle garners additional attention. Great for bedding bass as well as other fresh and saltwater game fish, the Spro Essential Series Aruku Shad Lipless Crankbait features sticky sharp Gamakatsu hooks and is also available in several effective color patterns to match the forage in your local waters.
Upgrade Your Treble HooksPlease note: some inventory may come with round eyes versus the slanted version.
Comments: My experience is limited to the 75 size, which I use to catch smallmouth both yo-yoing in deeper water or incorporating a straight retrieve in the shallows. Upsize the rear hook to a #4 short-shank Gamakatsu to improve your hook-up and landing ratios.
From: Larry: NY 5/27/23
Comments: This bait flat catches them! I run primarily the 75 size mudbug red. with 4-5 rods on the boat I've always got this bait tied on because when nothing else is working and frustration sets in, I know I'll get bit on it. #1 confidence bait for me. The hooks are insanely sharp but will bend out on larger/aggressive fish but, a small price to pay.
From: Aaron: Boise,ID 1/9/22
Comments: They work good jigging but straight retrieve not as good. Tried 1/2 and 5/8oz and 3 colors. Quality bait that has it's place.
From: Jethro: Maryland 12/14/21
Comments: Yes. I'm terrible with a lipless. Later pre spawn in grass/wind with various cadences is the only seasonal period I feel confident in chucking these. I prefer the Spro over most. The fall rate is a little slower than the average 1/2 oz lipless. Allows me to not have to be so dialed in every nanosecond of every retrieve. IMO itâs the best lipless for beginners. Never gets hooked on the line with aggressive snaps like a few of the more common cranks. If it's the right conditions and they feel/see this, they're going to react. I stick with perch 90% of the time. Nice subtle gold tint. Resembles many baitfish and bream in the north Central states.... at least tha's my perception.
From: Dan: Illinois 5/7/21
Comments: This is an exceptional crank bait I took it out of the box and caught 4 fish in 15 casts. this is my favorite lure ever! I definitely recommend this.
From: Unknown: 2/16/21
Comments: On my first day on the water with the Aruku Shad 65 I accidentally discovered how well its nose-down resting position works. During my retrieve I got a text message that needed a short but immediate response. I put the rod down for 10-15 seconds to take care of it, and when I picked the rod back up there was a fish on the other end. After that, I changed up my retrieve to incorporate longer pauses and I caught one of the bigger fish that I've ever hauled in on this particular water. I'm really impressed with this lure and will look to buy a couple more.
From: Drew: Mississippi 1/28/21
Comments: This comes through grass very well, vibrates at slow speeds, and does not hang up as much because it runs nose down. Spro has many good colors for their crankbaits and I hope they add more of them to the Aruku series. They need more colors. Only certain colors are offered for each size. I would like to see a one knocker version as well. The 75 is listed as 5/8 oz but it feels like 3/4 oz. The 75 sold outside of USA is listed at 22 grams. Overall, this is an excellent lipless and is very reasonable priced! I hope the lack of new Aruku offerings is not an indication that it will soon be discontinued.

Comments: Amazing lipless crankbait! I am definitely buying more. I have noticed these dive deeper than your typical lipless bait and I like that. These baits also act more like a squarebill I noticed. They are not the all terrain crankbait like a squarebill, but they are amazing at not snagging rocks and logs like a typical lipless bait. From: Grant: Illinois 9/21/19
Comments: Great lipless crankbaits that the paint doesnt come off of after 2 fish! Very well put together and no need to "tune" right out of the box. Great color selection .Hands down my favorite lipless.
From: Valerie: FL 11/1/18
Comments: Great bait. Catch lots of fish at Lake St. Clair with them. Clear chartreuse works great. I like the 85 series. Hooks are sharp but are prone to break.
From: Kevin: Sterling Heights, MI 7/8/17
Comments: Outstanding lipless crankbait. It's my go to reaction/search bait and even has the capability to catch pigs.Pros:Catches fish when other trap style baits won't. Rips through grass efficiently. Great rattle and action. Great search bait.Cons:Hooks need replacing. They tend to bend rather quickly but are pretty sharp. Eyes have come off after many uses but usually isn't an issue within the first couple thousand casts. Front hook will wear off the paint on the gill plate section after extended use but the integrity of the bait remains.
From: Jack: FL 4/6/17
Comments: fished the shad blue back this morning, they ate this thing up.hour in a half,12 bass.i will be ordering some more of these.
From: Don: Holly Lake Ranch, TX 4/2/17
Comments: This is a great lipless crankbait. Rips through grass pretty well. I did get it stuck a time or two but did manage to pull a nice largemouth out of the grass on a reaction strike even after the tourney boat in front of me hit the area with flipping rigs. The day was overcast so I used the Chrome Shad.
From: Yaknstein: 3/26/16
Comments: Nice looking lipless crankbait with great action. Only complaint is the durability. First outing with it & it already has quite a bit of paint chipped off. Not fishing it around a lot of rock either. Still a good bait for the price.
From: Timothy: CA 2/20/16
Comments: This is a great Steelhead lure. Take off the front hook & split ring. Then put a single barbless on the back with a smeller split ring
From: Jay: Livermore, CA 5/6/15
Comments: If conditions warrant that I should throw a lipless crankbait, 95% of the time I start out with an Aruku 65 in chrome/blue. The rattle & vibration seem to really turn the fish on. The hooks are very sticky and keep the fish buttoned up. I like the fact that the finish is more durable than others out there & will not peel off after banging into the rocks for a little while. The bottom line is this lure is effective and durable. It will catch you some fish. Highly recommended.
From: Edwin: Nashville, TN 4/23/15
Comments: Excellent rattle bait. I fish it straight out of the package, trebles are a little on the small size, but hold on pretty tight. They retrieve with a slight nose down presentation which helps with deflections. Sounds like it's packed full of small bb's, but so far the fish don't mind. Save yourself the time/learning curve and by the 85's, or at least the 75's if they don't have the color your after. Big fish or small, they eat them all! Good luck!
From: Scott: Montgomery, AL 3/18/15
Comments: bought this lipless crank based on some great reviews online. I've bought and replaced the 65 size in Perch color a few times now. Also bought the 75 size in magic shad, but never had a chance to use it. The 65 in Perch has been a fish catcher for me all summer and fall. Besides bass, fish in general seem to love this lure. While bass fishing I've also caught a handful of crappie on Lake Austin and no telling how many gar have hit this on Nueces River waters in south Texas. I fish a pond with huge numbers of all kinds of gar and get strikes on this lure nearly every cast. Been able to land (amazingly) several needlenose and alligator gar between 5-25 lbs. on this lure. The 65 size in Perch is one of my favorite all time lures!
From: Chris: San Antonio, TX 10/13/14
Comments: Very effective trap style bait. They have a much harder thump than most other lipless cranks out there. Seems to work better the slower its retrieved. My only negative on this bait is when its ripped free from grass it tends to do an extreme nosedive (almost front flip) that at times causes the stock back hook to snag the line. I fixed this by changing out the rear hook to a larger size. Overall a very good big fish lipless crank.
From: Hydrilla: Lake Seminole, FL 3/25/14
Comments: I'm always stocked a few baits deep of the Perch and Blue Shiner colors. Just a great lipless crankbait.
From: John: NY
Comments: i can go behind other anglers in the spring and catch bass , i've done this year more than others the new Aruka 65 is the deal, the sound that it makes is way different from all the other ones out there..
From: Jim: Guntersville AL
Comments: the only thing missing on these guys are those crazy eyes. awesome lure. bought one and caught fish with it the first dayFrom: Sai
Comments: My favorite lipless cranks of all time. I've fished these next to Luckycraft LV500s and they produce just as good for less than half the price. I have most of the colors offered but Magic shad seems like the only color I need.
From: maxZmus: San Diego, CA
Comments: Great bait besides the fact the paint chips off fairly easy, switched the stock hooks out with mustad kvd triple grips 2x's. Good bait thoughFrom: Austin: Central Florida
Comments: Normally use this bait for bass fishing but had the opportunity to try it on snook and it performed flawlessly and we caught several snook up to 15lbs. Am a firm believer and will be purchasing many more of these baits in the future. They work equally well on the bass on the lakes here in florida. Thank you Spro for a truly fine bait.
From: Glenn
Comments: just awesome! was out the other day and just killed them - 62 degree water and they just smashed this thing. tons of bass and pike and one 40" muskie. i was catching 1-3lb largemouth from the back of my boat casting to the same exact spots that my buddies just casted to. we all were burning rattle baits. my gold one is no longer gold - just silver and some transparent spots - it still outfished the XR75, 1 knocker, rattle trap, and rattlin rap. the guys fishing those tied one of my arukus on and they instantly started catching fish. theres something about the aruku shad that fish just cant ignore
Comments: This is a very good bait and it is reasonably priced. It has a little larger profile than most 1/2 oz. traps and comes through rock very well. From: Lou: NJ
Comments: Just threw the chrome blue 75 for the first time tonight and all I can say is "wow". Flatsided cranks are one of my number one confidence baits. I have close to a hundred of them. This bait (tonight at least) out-fished 9 other baits, even my redeye and my Xr75 that had been the best bait of late. I fished for less than 2 hours and caught around 25 bass on the Aruku......may be my new favorite.
From: Jeff: Rocky Mt, MO
Comments: First time out not a ton of fish (that kind of day), but it did bring in a three pounder (scale weighed, not "guesstimated"). Come cooler waters this thing is going to rock. Conditions- Clear blue skies, good breeze, temp about 85 (September in south FL). Casts far, swims true, runs clean..
From: Craig: Sunrise, FL
Comments: all i have to say is wow!wild shiner is great for clear water lakes that bass are somewhat lathargic and lake were the prime food source is shad good job spro
Comments: I'm pretty new to lipless baits, but the Aruku 75 in Wild Shiner flat out catches fish in my waters. Plus, it casts like a cruise missle downwind or upwind. Definitely my go-to lure when the white caps are out. My only gripe is that the hooks on this thing (like many cranks) have a tendency to majorly foul hook the fish, but I guess that just goes with the territory. Highly recommended!!!
From: G: Boston, MA
Comments: This is my go to confidence search bait. I think I have tried 80 percent of lipless cranks on the market and this one has stuck more fish for me than any other. Great color selection, however some of the paint does chip a bit quick. I have a box full of these and have caught countless smallies on them. Less than seven bucks the best lipless crank on the market in my opinion. From: Mark: Spokane, WA
Comments: This is a great crankbait. I use the 75 and it casts like a bullet. It has a wobble and shake like no other bait in it's class. The only thing you need to do is change the rear hook to #4 mustad treble and you'll be set. I like the wild shiner and chrome blue best of all. I can't say enough about the price and the quality either. Grab you 8 and you'll get free shipping from Tackle Warehouse and they are 50 cents a bait cheaper than anyone else in the country. Try them, you will not be disappointed.
From: William: Hohenwald, TN
Comments: One of the best (three) lipless on the market. Can't say enough good stuff about it. First, it has a great action at any speed - fast, medium, slow and slower. It even flutters on a straight-up rise. It doesn't plane to one side when dropping straight down. Burn it or jig it, it has action. If you like to yo-yo, this bait will nose-stand on the bottom with its butt pointing up. By the way, all these attributes apply to the Jackall T/N70 and Yo Zuri Hardcore Drum, which are both as good as the Spro.
