Customer Reviews
Disappointing ActionI had high hopes for the 6th Sense Party Prop Spy Bait, particularly the 60 size, which I purchased for targeting smallmouth bass on shallow water flats. While the color selection is excellent for clear water, my overall experience with this lure has been largely disappointing due to significant issues with its performance.
The most glaring issue is the Party Prop's extremely narrow speed tolerance. When attempting any retrieve rate beyond what I would consider slow, the bait consistently flips onto its side. This severely limits its versatility and effectiveness. I'm giving it two stars only because you can make the bait work if you are incredibly particular about controlling your speed and paying constant, close attention to this. However, this requires a level of precision that is often impractical and frustrating.
Furthermore, when the bait is paused, it exhibits no discernible shimmy or secondary action. This is a critical characteristic for spybaiting, as the subtle flicker or wobble on the fall or during a pause is often what triggers bites from wary fish. In this regard, it falls significantly short of competitors.
If my choice was to choose between this and a Duo Realis Spybait, hands down the Duo is the better choice. Specifically, the Duo Realis Spybait 70 is a far superior option in comparison to the 6th Sense Party Prop 60 for shallow water applications, offering a much more pronounced and enticing shimmy on the pause and a more forgiving retrieve.
While the attractive colorways of the Party Prop are a plus, they cannot compensate for the fundamental flaws in the bait's action and stability. For anglers looking for a reliable and versatile spybait, especially for smallmouth in shallow flats, I would recommend looking elsewhere, with the Duo Realis Spybait 70 being a standout alternative.
