Built with the same quality of craftsmanship we’ve come to expect from Bates, the Bates Fishing Co Hundo 100 Casting Reels feature a 20% smaller frame and upgraded cast control that combines centrifugal and magnetic braking in a truly unique way. Finished with a gunmetal grey anodized coating for exceptional durability, the Hundo is precision-cut from a solid 6061-T6 aluminum bar stock using Bates' 9-axis CNC machine to provide unmatched strength, rigidity, and long-lasting performance.

Beyond the smaller and more palmable 100-sized frame, the Hundo Casting Reel boasts the Bates Fishing Co's new Dual Matrix braking system and a shallower spool so anglers can easily dial in and cast lightweight lines and fishing lures. Packed with upgraded internal components as well, the Hundo includes lightweight aluminum gears and an improved combination of 10 HAC stainless-steel bearings, two high-precision NMB ball bearings, and a one-way stainless-steel bearing. It’s okThe Hundo is a very nice looking reel. It palms greats. Cast smooth but takes a minute to get it dialed in. The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because I was using it next to a Zillion. The zillion smoother, quieter. Bates was much louder. I also thought the Bates was made in the USA. Had no idea it was made in China.

Squeal!!!!!To start off I’m not big on negative reviews but this purchase really ticked me off. Initially my thoughts of the reel was is felt solid and well made. Pretty smooth. The thought faded in the first 30 minutes as it started to squeal very loudly upon retrieve. The noise was coming from the anti-reverse system. The magnetic cast control was dragging on retrieval. Pretty sure it’s not supposed to do that. I opened the side and magnets were coated in their own dust after only 30 minutes of use. I noticed that there was I teeny spring misshaped and possibly scrapping also. And don’t let the name fool you. This reel is made in the PRC (China). $375 for made in China. It’s being returned today. Really not happy.

Best Reel for the moneyI have had many brands. This is by far the best reel I have owned. The quality is unmatched and is the best reel I have ever owned. Liked it so much I bought 3 more, along with the Goat SWM and the salty 150. All bates reels are incredible and you will not be disappointed in whichever you choose.

Unmatched PrecisionThis is a reel with the precision of an exquisite firearm. Balance, weight, performance, feedback...one could go on and on. I highly urge anyone in the market for a new casting reel to spend a few more dollars and get one that clearly will be not only a daily driver but certainly a lifer in your arsenal.

Would Recommend
Great entry to the marketThis reel is phenomenal. Coming in at 5 Oz this thing weighs nothing in hand and crosses that super premium weight threshold. Butter smooth and extremely easy to dial in. I have 4 currently and will be getting more. Have been using for both bottom contact and moving baits and performs equally well. Will be getting a Hundo Salt as well as an LTS to compare against.

Would Recommend
They should have named this THE GOATI have an alderbaron and a steeze but this reel takes the cake at a better price point. Buttery smooth, for lightness it’s on the same level as well as for cast-ability as the other two mentioned. What I think makes this reel better than those is the way it feels in your hand, it’s just more solid and stout. Another bonus is after toting it all over the country in the rod locker no scuffing because it’s solid aluminum.

HundoAlot of hype on the reel for once its true. Very solid reel but also super lightweight. I will end up looking at the other Bates models also. The Hundo us by far one of the best casting reels i own.

Very solidThe build and tolerances are very solid. It feels very Shimano-esque. You can feel the gears meshing together sometimes, but that’s about the only problem I have with it. Very clean and very light weight reel.

Would Recommend
I love it but..It is an awesome reel very compact in hand, very very light, I use if for lures that doesn’t exceed 3/8oz, I do use the spool tensioner but I really have to crank it down to achieve backlashes even with max breaking magnets, if I cast really hard to get a mile away sometimes the the trigger comes back to lock on and of course in middle air my lures come back, maybe is me or the trigger is very sensitive, other than that I love it no doubt, I would buy another one I use mine for crank baits for now.
