Overview

Delivering the best of both worlds Berkley FluoroShield Line is a fluorocarbon infused copolymer line that is great for all situations and all rod and reel setups. During the manufacturing process, the fluorocarbon infusion blooms from the inside out making it incredible abrasion resistant, while also remaining highly manageable on both spinning and casting gear. It is also nearly invisible under water, which helps trigger more bites when fishing in clear water situations and around heavily pressured fish. Offered in a wide selection of sizes to handle any technique, Berkley FluoroShield Line provides the benefits of fluorocarbon and nylon fishing line at an unbeatable price point.

Not a fluorocarbon line but....This should not be sold under fluorocarbon lines since it's a copolymer line. The coating is the only thing that's fluorocarbon about it, the rest is monofilament. So, this line handles exactly like monofilament. A really good monofilament. In fact, one of the most enjoyable lines to fish for me. I've used it a ton for chatterbaits and crankbaits. Even jerkbaits. For the former two, it's phenomenal. Very little memory compared to other monofilaments (and fluorocarbon) lines. It's also smooth even if you get to the lower layers of the line. Some monofilaments gets a "rougher" texture after it has been under other tightly spooled layers of line for a while. That's thanks to the memory. This line, however, doesn't get affected as easily by that. The casting, especially with Daiwa's SV Boost spools is really good and enjoyable. While it lacks a bit in abrasion resistance, I can live with that. This is one of those no brainer lines for me. You gotta try it if you're a fan of monofilament or copolymer.

Comments: So far it's been good. Decently priced and minimal stretch in my opinion. I'm happy with it and would probably purchase again.

From: Garrett: Galt 8/26/23

Comments: I bought this in 6lb for a BFS reel and it has preformed well for me. It handles good and seems to be durable.

From: Art: TN. 7/2/23

Comments: This line is weak. First red flag for me was while I was tying a double pitzen knot and holding onto the looped tag end with my teeth, my teeth cut through the loop . I was like WTF, I have done that a million times with 100's of other lines down to 2lb test and never once has that happened. 2nd red flag, the line broke at the knot while setting the hook while using a senko. The rest of that spool went into the garbage, the second spool I purchased is getting sent back.

Comments: I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or not. I've read reviews saying that it was good and some saying it was terrible. I have had a bad experience with it. After about 10 casts, I feel like the strings have gotten really weak. And it does seem to wear out way too fast. So that you know after a couple of hours fishing. I'm scared that my line's going to break. If I hook it fish. That's 2 lb plus. But like I said, that's just my experience

From: Darin: TX 12/16/22

Comments: Super nice line. Super cheap and durable. The memory is the worst part of the line but it's okay. 9/10

From: Isaac: Minnesota 10/11/22

Comments: cheap line but it casts far and is pretty durable, ive never snapped off once. one thing i dont like about it is the memory, after a couple months the memory is horrendous

From: Unknown: Minnesota 9/29/22

Comments: Liked the price and thought I'd give it a try. Bought 12lb for a bait caster and 8lb for a spinning setup. Haven't had any trouble with the 12 pound test. With the 8 lb on my spinning rod, I had the line just tangle in the middle after a cast. This happened 3 times after spooling up my spinning reel with this line. It was not overfilled and I wasn't using or doing anything different that I always do with other line brands in which I haven't experienced this issue. Not sure if I got an old package that'd been sitting on the shelf for awhile or what. I wasn't happy with stripping off several yards of line 3 times in one day before it finally performed as it should. Especially when I was wading a river with only 1 rod.

From: Mike: Saint Charles, IL 9/8/22

Comments: This is quality line. Very low memory, low stretch, invisible underwater, and as strong as any. Can't beat the price for quality.

From: Unknown: 8/27/22

Comments: Cuts very easy when it hits cover. Using the 8lb for my dropshot fishing and lost several good fish, hooks, and weights to line getting knicked up so easily.

From: Anthony: Chicago 8/2/22

Comments: This is really good line, but if you think it will be a lower cost alternative for fluorocarbon, you will probably be disappointed. Yes, it is better than straight mono and would be a good upgrade from mono for cranking line. However, if line sensitivity is really important to you (say, for fishing soft plastics), it is not 50% more sensitive than straight mono line. It also has a good deal of stretch (although, maybe not as much as mono). I am going to continue using FluoroShield, but not as an alternative for fluorocarbon. It is very good line tough, manageable, good knot strength and abrasion resistance great for moving/crank baits. I'll be sticking with fluorocarbon or braid to fluorocarbon for fishing soft plastics.

From: Red: McAlester, OK 6/6/22

Comments: I'm using the Berkley fluoroshield for it's smaller diameter line and blending into the water ability as I'm pre rigging worm rigs. This has always been a fish catching combo especially in clear water or sight fishing.

From: Herbert: Batavia, NY 4/14/22

Comments: Had my doubts at first, but now its my go to line for all my baitcasters. I am a tournament angler (12-18 a year) and I use everything from 10 to 20 lb test and only change twice per season. I agree it has some memory in the first 5-10yds if the reel sits with no use. But I use a line conditioner and that has helped it making my line smooth and with some of the memory.

From: Tony: Braidwood, IL 2/20/22

Comments: Best kept secret, the 17lb has been my go to, from chatter baits to trigs this line has held up pulling hogs out of the thick stuff in S.Fla! Amazing value!

From: Ralph: Miami, FL 12/26/21

Comments: Using 10lb on small crank baits, so far so good, smooth and casts very well

From: Unknown: 12/8/21

Comments: Been using 15lb casting chatterbaits, very smooth line

From: Unknown: 11/24/21

Comments: Good line, actually works well on spinning reel surprisingly. I like it a lot on my baitcasters as well. However, it definitely doesn't hold up over time. You will have to spend time re-tying after just a few fish and certainly wears out from UV rays

From: John: Deptford, NJ 10/8/21

Comments: Put 10 lb test on 3000 size spinning. Pleasantly surprised by how well it has performed. Used it mostly for slip-bobber walleye and crappie. Memory comparable to Trilene XT, maybe better. I would recommend this line for situations where you don't want to use braid.

From: Marc: Indiana 6/27/21

Comments: This line is good if you donât mind switching it out every couple trips because it becomes discolored and holds lots of memory. I also would not recommend this line as a mainline on a spinning reel. But the pros are that it is somewhat abrasion resistant and is cheap for what you get out of it.

From: Unknown: Kentucky 6/18/21

Comments: Compared to Pline Flouroclear, very very similar. Both are great lines. Can't go wrong with either one.

From: Unknown: Mobile, AL 4/22/21

Comments: I highly recommend this line. I was using P-Line but looking for something more abrasion resistant and this line done the trick at an affordable price.

From: Ron: Seminole, OK 4/26/21

Comments: I like it for moving baits but prefer fluoro for plastics, so far. We'll see.

From: Unknown: Couyon, LA 4/20/21

Comments: So far so good. Time will tell but it seems like a good fit for chatterbaits and moving baits.

From: Andy: Canada 4/16/21

Comments: Phenomenal line. Great casting distance. Especially with A-rigs! Highly recommend!

From: Keith: Milford, OH 4/9/21

Comments: Super smooth casting.  Excellent abrasion resistance.  A solid line for throwing crank baits, chatter baits and jigs!

From: John: Sacramento, CA 3/15/21

Comments: Handles better that fluoro and so far less breakoffs. using on swimjig and craws.

From: Larry: Land O Lakes, FL 3/2/21

Comments: Just use it for leader with heavier braid more cheaper then fluorocarbon. works great!

From: Fred: Arkansas 2/19/21

Comments: I like this stuff.  Strong, casts well, durable.  I was using PLine Floroclear for a long time and this stuff is better so far.

From: Paul: Santa Barbara, CA 2/17/21

Comments:Quality product. Let's me use a nearly invisible line for my mono situations.

From: Matt: West Virginia 2/11/21

Comments: Bought this line for crankbait and spinnerbait fishing.  Works really well.

From: Eric: Kentucky Lake, KY 1/19/21

Comments: Terrible line. Poor knot strength, too much memory for spinning reel.

From: Unknown: 12/25/20

Comments: I fish this line on spinning gear, casts great, caught a two pound spot good handing line.

From: Unknown: 12/22/20

Comments: I use for crankbaits on a casting reel. Only use as leader with braid on a spinning reel. I never use mono or fluorocarbon on a spinning reel. Use an Alberto knot with a leader.

From: David: Eureka, MO 12/13/20

Comments: Just tried this stuff and so far so good. Was looking for more durability than Pline Floroclear, and I think it does.

From: PD 12/12/20

Comments: I have only been able to use this line one day on the water due to winter weather but so far I love it.Fished a shallow crank bait and a jig and pig.Need more time to determine abrasion resistance and if the fish can see it, so far great!

From: J: Virginia 11/29/20

Comments: I've used this line a few times now and it casts great it has very low memory it could improve on not breaking as easy but overall I give it a thumbs up!!!

From:
Matt: Georgia 11/24/20

Comments:
Horrible line for spinning reels. I bought 8 lb FluroShield line because it said it would work well on spinning reels. After two trips out, both times the coils jumped off my reel and all I had was a tangled mess I had to cut out. The memory was as bad as barb wire. I will stick with Trilene Sensation for my spinning reels.
