Overview

Designed in collaboration with expert frog angler and 2022 MLF Redcrest Champion Bobby Lane, the Berkley Swamp Lord Frog was created to be the last hollow-body frog that any angler needs to become lord of the swamp. Optimized for maximum hook penetration, the Swamp Lord Popping Frog is backed by a precisely angled sticky-sharp Berkley Fusion 19 frog hook and is built with an ultra-soft yet durable body that collapses quickly to expose the hook points.

Available in an assortment of forage-matching color patterns, each frog is fitted with long high-quality silicone skirting material that can be easily trimmed to your preference to create a more compact presentation. Finished with a sealed hook shank and body chamber to reduce water intrusion for more efficient and uninterrupted frog fishing, the Berkley Swamp Lord Frog delivers explosive topwater bites anytime the fish are taking shelter in shallow vegetation.

Don’t cut the legsBought one when it first came out years ago. Hated it. Rolled over and didn’t walk at all. Took me two years to buy another one and this time I didn’t cut the legs. This time the frog casted and landed upright every single time. This time it walked very very well. This time I had a blast using the Swamp Lord! So maybe the key is just not cutting the legs.

GarbageI dont know why people think these are hit or miss. They are all trash. Every single one of them (and i bought 8) fills with water the second you start to walk them they sit completely vertical, nose to the sky in the water, one of them apparently just tore itself where the hooks come out on the belly, and that was on an open water cast, and like others they constantly roll over if they arent completely submerged within the first couple rod twitches. They do cast well & come in good colors, so i guess if you happen to land it on a bass's head where it requires no movement to get bitten then its worth 2 stars.

Jury’s still outI own over 5 dozen hollow frogs. It’s one of my favorite ways to fish and I catch a pile of fish annually this way. So naturally I had to try the Swamp Lord. The Swamp Lord is a great walking frog, I can bomb cast it, has great hooks and is a well sealed frog that keeps water intrusion out of the hook penetration in the body. However the vent hole is quite small in this frog and makes dispelling the air/compressing the body more difficult than all of the other frogs I use. There is considerable resistance comparatively. I tried the frog stock out of the package to see how it performed and missed fish on it. From there I did the standard hook tweaks that have always improve hook up ratio’s and am still missing fish on this frog. I really want to like the Swamp Lord but I just miss too many fish with it. Every time I cut it off and tie on a Jackal, Spro, LiveTarget or Snagproof I go right back to hooking and landing fish. I’m not done with the Swamp Lord yet. My next tweak is to try and open the vent hole slightly to see if that will allow the air to expel easier. Maybe this will allow the body to compress more easily and convert some of these bites into catches.

not the best frogI bought one of these during the summer and it walked good, but it's kind of light compared to other frogs which made it harder to cast far. I noticed that some of them flip over a lot easier than others and the hook up ratio wasn't great. I caught a couple fish on it, but other frogs like the snag proof bobby's perfect or river 2 sea bully was are much better options if you're looking for good frogs.

Best frog on the marketSoft body, walks great, and has a good hookup ratio. Can't ask for more.

Not that greatI tried one out for a whole day. The body is a little too stiff and after awhile, the body wouldn't collapse like it should. I see here people have mentioned that you can get good one then a bad one. For the money I don't think you should have to "take a chance" on getting a good one. I did catch a couple fish on it.

It’s alrightI’ve been fishing these a lot this summer, noticed that you either get a good one or you get one thats total junk. They all cast a mile and walk fairly easily, but my biggest issue is you gotta sort through them to find one that doesn’t roll over. Awesome color options, but I had to go through 3 different frogs in the MF bluegill color to find one that doesn’t roll over when you start to work it. Never had that issue with a snagproof, SPRO, heck even a Walmart frog I got for giggles. If you get a good one you’re in luck, they walk alright and are pretty soft, hookup ratio has been good. Otherwise be prepared to make a few returns.

Good frog easy to walkThis frog for me is easy to walk and soft enough to get the hook set well with still holding up. Have caught a ton of fish with this. I would recommend this frog for bass fishing.

MehThe good: Fantastic colors. Casts a mile. Hookups consistent with comparable frogs. The bad: rolls a lot (will cost you fish sooner or later). It is wide and subsequently doesn't walk as well as more slender frogs. Fills with water.

Hold onSoft body. Hook up ratio is great, walks easy. I have not had any issues with durability. Caught well over 30 lmb up to 6 lbs and the swamp lord keeps getting lunched. I’m sure if a toothy pike or musky were to inhale it the frog would be done but that’s true of any frog.
