Unbelievably Awesome Reel for ChildrenI am an experienced, dedicated conventional saltwater and bass fishing, and fly fishing enthusiast. I put a tremendous amount of effort into researching, buying, and testing 3 different combinations for reels and rods for my 2 grand kids. In size 80 this reel was the best by a wide margin. It is both perfect and amazing value. This is better than the typical spincast reel which requires a casting rod and rides on top of the rod. This reel uses a spin rod which is the next logical step as children graduate to the next level which a spinning reel and rod. Casting reels are quite challenging to use and best suited for adults. So the same spinning rod works for the first two levels of fishing skill development. This reel comes with the crank on the left side which is the optimum position for right handed fishing. Cast with the right hand and reel with the left. It cranks conventionally back toward you. A spincast reel used for left handed cranking casts away from you, unlike all adult fishing reels. You develop proper habits from the outset. The size 80 reel pairs perfectly with the great value Shimano Convergence D 6’6” Medium - Fast rod, $70. When using this reel the motion of the right and left hands is nearly identical to a spinning reel and rod which is the next step up for a child’s fishing development. Mechanically this reel is quite smooth and works incredibly well. It is superior in operation to Daiwa and Webco Spincast reels. My grand kids enjoy the simple operation and ease of use of this great reel. I highly recommend this reel for its amazing design and superb quality for young children and adults beginning their conventional fishing development.

Family FriendlyMade Family fishing fun, kids very happy to cast and retrieve and occasionally catch some fish overall Underspin reel is very family friendly price point is very good as well. $40 and some change. What's to complain about? I have four of this reel now.
