Leader line managementFirst let me say, I don’t have anything to compare this leader bag to. It’s the only leader line management product I’ve yet tried. The look, size and soft sided material all seemed appealing. And I have other evolution outdoors gear that I do like. When I first bought this leader bag, I put 5 spools of Floro leader in, used the dividers & fed the line through the metal grommets. Fairly easy. The issue is that the spools move around, the line unravels from the spools and you end up with birdnest. So, I used a length of 3/8” OD tubing to slide the spools on. I drilled the dividers so they could slide on to the tubing and separate the spools. But the leader line still comes off the spools and just gets wrapped around the tubing and cinches down! So it turns out that Evolution sells elastic bands called “line wranglers” here on TW. If you gonna buy this bag, buy the line wranglers along with it! Honestly, evolution should’ve been selling the bag with the line wranglers. In my limited experience, they’re not an accessory, their a necessity. Now the bag works great. It is a little tedious to set up with the line wranglers and feeding the lines through the grommets. But once it’s all done, it works great! I don’t know if having the spools all spinning on a “shaft” improves the function? I haven’t tried it without it since I bought the line wranglers. If that’s a mod you’re gonna go with, a piece of 3/8 or 1/2” doll rod should work. I had some aluminum tubing laying around, so that’s what I used. I’d imagine that with just the line wranglers, and no spool shaft, it’ll work ok. But the line wranglers are key. Don’t skip them if your buying this leader bag!
