Delivering an updated design and even better performance than the original, the Favorite Defender Gen2 Casting Rods feature new components and new raw materials that give anglers a top-shelf quality rod at a budget friendly price point. Built using ultra-sensitive 24-ton Toray carbon blank materials, the Favorite Defender Gen2 Casting Rods employ MLS (Multi Layer Structure) technology that layers carbon of varying modulus and fiber direction to produce a reinforced construction and improved torsional load resistance. In addition, an X-shaped carbon tape wrapping along the blank provides increased durability and overall power.
Featuring premium components from tip to tip, the Favorite Defender Gen2 Casting Rods feature polished stainless steel guide frames with nano-lite rings that are made in-house by Favorite to dramatically increase castability and durability. They also feature re-engineered streamlined reel seats that fit more comfortably against your hand and reduce the overall weight of the rods. Comments: Just purchased a 6"6 MH for kayaking, I take it out two hours after purchase and within two fish noticed major line fraying from the top guide. Fraying to the point I could easily hear and feel it. I was using 15lb Trilene Flouro. A complete notch was taken out of the top guide. Hopefully they get this fixed. Love the rod otherwise.

Comments: Approximately 3 months ago I purchased 5 of the new Defender 2 series rods. I loved the rods and the actions on the 7'4" was perfect for a worm rod. However, I noticed fraying on my fluorocarbon line (Sunline Assassin). I also noticed major line damage ( smashed) during hook sets and then just this past weekend 3 of the five rods the guide inserts fell out. So far Favorite fixing their issues with rod guides!

Comments: I liked the rod at first 7'3 MH for a chatterbait but it snapped in half. I was not even setting the hood just leaning into the fish like you should when fishing a chatter bait.

Comments: Just received my Defender Gen 2 7'6"H Fast and absolutely love it. The action is spot on. Bought to flip and punch matted vegetation on Okeechobee and so far, have been thoroughly impressed with the sensitivity, lightweightness, and castability. The guides are a huge improvement over the Gen 1 and the reel seat is super comfortable compared to the first Gen! Also purchased the 7'2"H Fast Absolute Gen 2 series for Senkos and Texas rigs and the 7'3"MH Mod. Fast Balance Gen 2 for Rattletraps and chatterbaits and plan to purchase another Absolute Gen 2 in 7'3"XH Fast for frogging and swimbaits very soon!
