Comments: Used my new 6'6" med.heavy fast spinning rod today for the 1st time. Loved the feel and weight of the rod and it feels more of a moderate action than fast which is what I was hoping for. I have it paired w/a Daiwa 300 series rod with 10lb. mono. As I started casting I was getting horrible distance and it sounded like I had 30lb. test coming off the reel. Took most of the morning to figure it out... The guides are WAAAYY undersized. I can't call them micro but compared to every other rod in the boat the difference it was visibly noticeable. Its a shame 'cause other than that I love the rod.

Comments: When I bought mine years ago they cost $100 it was because of that these were the rods I take to back country hard to get to places they are solid rods that get the job done and are versatile winn grips are great and can handle big fish but I don't think they fit into the new price range I live Fenwick rods and have several of their higher end series Tech a and World class rods the hmg is more if an all purpose rod then a technique specific one

Comments: The Fenwick HMG Spinning Rod 6'6" Med Hvy has proven to be the most useful bass rod I have on my kayak. I did end up cutting off the open hook keeper for reasons explained in another customer's review.

Comments: This is a solid rod. I bought a 6' ML based off the lure weight rating and found it a bit light to use the 2500 size reel I had planed on. Ended up pairing it with a size 10 president xt. Overall a very light combo you could use all day with no arm fatigue. It worked well to pull fish out of light cover and had the sensitivity to pick up a lot of bites. However, while I enjoyed the open hook keeper, its location resulted in a number of fouled casts as the line would catch on it fairly often. I wish the keeper was on the handle below the reel. I ultimately broke due to my own stupidity. I would consider getting another, especially if the keeper was moved.
