Customer Reviews

Previous Feedback

Comments: Before unboxing I was very skeptical. I had not seen a single review on them and I'm guessing that was for two reasons, they are new to the market, and they are not a common name in kayak fishing gear. The panels sounded like they were made of hard, low density plastic as they were banging around in the box (the kind that cracks and chips when it gets cold or when it is handled rough). When I unopened them, I was pleased to find out that they were made of a softer, more flexible plastic than I anticipated (that was a plus!). Assembly was very self explanatory and took 5-7 minutes. All the panels lock into each other with hooks and grooves, while the bottom panel snaps onto the bottom of the side panels with clips. The green locking latches clip into place and the top box fastens to the bottom box with a set of hinge pins. Lastly, the two rod holders can be screwed onto one of the sides using the 10 screws provided.
Overall thoughts and impressions: I love the size of the crate as well as the additional top tray. I think it will help keep things more organized. I will more than likely use the top tray for miscellaneous things like pliers, spools of leader, packs of hooks, hook cutters, sunblock, first aid kit, etc. The bottom section of the "krate" is actually bigger than a normal milk crate and has no problem holding 6 "5000 series" tackle boxes. I also like how the four corners of the tuff krate have places to attach leashes from the top to bottom. These can be used for the rods in the rod holders, or can be used to bungee down the box to the haul. Here negatives with the product: the green latches feel cheap. Not like they are going to break, just a little loose for my liking. Two freaking rod holders! That's all that come with it, and the rod holders you get are not my favorite. They do not have the cutout down the front that allows the foot of the reel to sit deeper in the holder. I will be ordering 2 more rod holders from Amazon for the other side of the "krate" and possibly modifying them to hold more of the rod for security purposes. Here is a trade off with having the top bin, you cannot mount anything to the back of the "krate" because then the top will not fully open. 4 is the maximum number of rod holders this "krate" will accept (two on left and two on right side). I wanted to get a yakattack black pack but cannot justify spending $130 on a glorified milk crate, so I decided to give this product a shot. Would I buy again? For $85 no, but if you can find it on sale a little cheaper, then yes I would suggest it.

Comments: These things are great for yak storage, I have been using one on mine for a few months and it's great, used to have my cloth bags with boxes than began to smell like mildew, but that won't ever be a worry with this thing.

Comments: Before I got this, I had a milk crate with homemade rod holders and my tackle bag.  Now, I just have this.  Love the top compartment for tools and loose bags of baits and the big compartment will fit any of the storage boxes I use.  Huge time and space saver on the kayak.  Worth it.

Comments: Nice Krate, not as expensive as the Blackpak. Comes with 2 rod holders, but will hold 4. Needs a rope to hold the lids in an 90 degree angle when open, I used paracord I had laying around.
