Overview

One of the most, if not the most, recognizable name among bass anglers, and in particular, trophy hunters, Huddleston’s premium swimbaits have produced countless personal records, tournament wins, and unforgettable memories. Now, they have expanded their lifelike line-up with the highly anticipated Huddleston Deluxe Bluegill Top Hook.

Anatomically on-target, the Huddleston Deluxe Bluegill Top Hook’s profile, scaling, detail, and texture are in a class by itself, providing a lifelike appearance that discerning predators won’t be able to distinguish from the real deal. Offered in a select number of refined finishes, the Huddleston Deluxe Bluegill Top Hook features the same proven tail shape as its baitfish brethren, producing a subtle, yet enticing thump.

Concealed at the base of the dorsal fin, the Huddleston Deluxe Bluegill Top Hook features a precisely placed top hook that sits flush with the body for increased weedlessness. Once bass strike, the body folds, exposing the hook and delivering a rock-solid hook set.

A shoe-in to become your favorite panfish imitation, the Huddleston Deluxe Bluegill Top Hook is the next chapter in Huddleston’s highly decorated history.

Comments: Hey, best bait for overfished ponds. Caught my pb unexpectedly on this bait last weekend. 6.4 pound largemouth bass. And caught a 4.5 lb right before back to back. It was so unexpected. Also had a scale for proof. And I'm 24 years old and my grandma was with me and we both kinda cried after the big one lol. I grew up on that pond and it was always standard lures like spinnerbaits, wacky rigs etc and not many bites with those. So this Huddleston bluegill is the best bait for places like those!!

From: Alex: Georgia 8/28/23

Comments: I'll trim the top fin back to a swimming position. Maybe put an 8" tail on it. And usually have to adjust it with a nail weight. But even if it swims straight the hook doesn't cut the mustard. So it goes on my "retired but still admired" wall like another piece to the swimbait puzzle.

From: Unkown: California 6/23/21

Comments: Had mine destroyed by half a dozen of 2s and 3s. The plastic by the line tie started to rip, which is understandable. Just wished it was a bit more durable. After that day it was pretty much destroyed beyond repair lol.

From: Jonathan, Minnesota 6/22/21

Comments: This was my first ever hudd and my first day out with it I caught a 3 lb largemouth and a crap ton of pickerel! I had no problem with the bait rolling over but the one thing I must say is if you have toothy fish in your water, GET MEND IT!! it will save you soooo much money. (this was march 28th)

From: Anthony: Massachusetts 4/7/21

Comments: Love this bait. I've had no problems with it rolling over. I only experienced issues with the body ripping. I will have this tied on anywhere that has bluegill. Haven't had it long enough to experience hook up ratio issues. I have noticed that it isn't as weedless as it seems, a great bait overall though.

From: Ethan: Florida 12/22/20

Comments: DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY on anything but these. These are the best bluegill swim baits on the market! They catch ALL sized bass! Some people were complaining about them rolling on their side, it's never happened to me. If I'm going to any body of water (even golf course ponds) I'll have this tied up.

From: Kyle: California 5/28/20

Comments: Saw a 4 in the creek by my house and wouldn't pay attention to anything until I threw this bait, nosed up on it along with a two pounder immedietly but the two pounder bite 1st, no problem with the hook set, but should've waited for the 4 to bite.

From: Nolan: Ca 4/26/20

Comments: I was having issues with it leaning to one side but was able to fix it using a split ring instead of a direct tie, now it swims straight and definitely mimics the real thing.

From: Mike : Ga 4/14/19

Comments: Make sure you get some mend it. They are very soft plastic that catch big bites so mend it is key. I love hudd baits the grass minnows are deadly too. Paint doesnt stay nice very long but i catch more once they are a little beaten up looking anyway. Make sure you get mend it and this will last very long time.

From: Unknonwn 4/14/18

Comments: + Looks realistic, swims nice, and is good for sparse vegetation. - Not as weedless as I expected. At least 50% of my casts I ended up with eel grass on my hook. Be careful fishing it in pads. It can get caught up on them. I thought the hiding top hook would provide a more weedless lure.

From: Rick - Miami, FL 12/9/17

Comments: I fish lake okeechobee and slither this bait through pads and hydrilla and catch monsters my best on this bait is a 10.2

From: Evan 10/17/17

Comments: Excellent could color shape and action.  It drew out bigger bass than my other presentation but the hook up ration was not acceptable.  Part of the problem may have been that fish were not smashing the lure, nor any other.  I opened up the hook so it was not flat against the body.  That helped some but there was still a problem.

From: Unknown 6/16/17

Comments: Really love fishing the top hook hud gill big bass slam these things. Only issue I have with the Huddleston Deluxe bluegill top hook is the fact that after catching to decent sized Bass the paint was wearing away pretty significantly. The hook set on them can be kind of tough I would say it's about a 50/50 hook up ratio. The first one I purchased tore up pretty quickly I'm hoping it was just that one in particular. I purchased two more to compare.

From: Darrell: Tipp City 5/30/17

Comments: Love the action on this bait, I've caught some big ones on it. Just not very durable to me, caught two big fish on it and it is already ripped and the belly weight is popping out. Love the action though.

From: Cason: North Carolina 5/24/17

Comments: These things rock. Awesome action and paint job is incredible. They come through weeds like nothing and target the bigger fish in your lake!

From: Unknown - Canada 2/23/17

Comments: I mostly fish in NJ and huge bass are hard to come by. I fished the Gill in crappie color for about 2 trips and got 3 4+lb bass, including my new personal best at 5.64lbs. 3 bites, 3 fish. So far all I here is a bad hookup ratio. I got 100% so far. You just have to put your purse down before you set the hook.
