Hyperlastics By A Band Of Anglers Deadalive Swimmer Pro

Overview
Developed by world famous lure designer, Patrick Sebile, the Hyperlastics By A Band Of Anglers Deadalive Swimmer Pro gives anglers a swimbait that excels in all sections of the water column and in both fresh and saltwater scenarios. Made using an exclusive SofTough plastic material that is also very buoyant, the Hyperlastics By A Band Of Anglers Deadalive Swimmer Pro features a segmented body that produces a highly realistic swimming action to mimic the actual movements of a live baitfish.
Each pack comes with two pre-rigged baits on an EWG style hook, one weightless and one weighted. The weightless version will float on its side on the surface and can be twitched just below the surface to mimic a dying shad. The weighted version can either be used with a steady retrieve at any depth range or it can be dragged along the bottom and its tail will float upwards to replicate a baitfish foraging for eggs or worms. Available in multiple baitfish color patterns, the Hyperlastics By A Band Of Anglers Deadalive Swimmer Pro is deadly in during all times of the year no matter what species you are targeting.

Comments: Some of the reviews aren't so great. And I'd have to agree, the factory weighted rig sank too quickly for me, and required a fast retrieve to get any tail action. But if you retrieve too fast, you get no action at all. The first thing I did, after testing the weighted version was take out the weightless hook (which weighs about 2 grams) from one and replace it with a Gama 5/0 1/16oz belly weighted EWG with offset shank. This hook has a total weight of about 3.5g. The factory weighted hook is labeled 6/0 on one side and 7 on the other, but it's total is about 8g. The bait has a molded in hook slot and shank slot, so you want damage the plastic removing the hook. Once I installed the 5/0 1/16oz hook, I was able to retrieve the bait at a much slower pace with a lot more action.

Comments: These baits look great and both versions are pretty weedless but.. The weightless one just floats sideways on the surface like a dead fish (maybe that's the idea?). The weighted version can be twitched like a fluke and glides a bit on slack line but with the weight's position, it doesn't have that erratic darting/slow death action like a fluke or jerkbait. I've let it sink and it looks decent dragging the bottom but I've yet to get bit on it. Also, the tail plastic is very thin. If you let it touch other baits or a foam rod handle it will dissolve.

Comments: Great idea but poor execution. My weightless one literally doesn't swim... Its just comes through the water with no movement. Amazing body design with a terrible, lazy, poor tail design. This product has a chance if they change the tail but until then don't waste your money.
