Overview

2015 Bassmasters Classic Release

Crafted with an unequaled attention-to-detail and two durable joints, the segmented Jackall Gantarel creates an incredibly realistic bluegill imitation that will fool the largest and most seasoned bass. On either side, the Jackall Gantarel is molded with extended pectoral fins, which enhance stability and allow the lure to dive down to 3-feet with a smooth, S-shaped swimming action. Able to perform 180-degree turns with a sharp jerk, the Jackall Gantarel evokes reflex-driven reaction strikes from fish that may be interested, but not fully committed.

Constructed with a number of subtle, yet innovative features, the Jackall Gantarel is built with a swiveling line-tie that reduces line twists and a chin hanger that allows anglers to add weight for a slow-sinking presentation. At the rear, the Jackall Gantarel incorporates an eye molded into the tail, so anglers can attach an optional trailer hook. Fitted with two swiveling, feathered treble hooks, the Jackall Gantarel is a must-have for any fishery cohabitated by big bass and pan fish.

Comments: UPGRADE YOUR SPLIT RINGS AND HOOKS!!!! I've caught plenty of bass from 1-5 pounds on mine but today I lost a double digit at the bank because the hooks straightened out and the O-ring turned into an oval that was almost completely separated.

Comments: After a season of fishing these, I found that every one swims different. Unfortunately I've had to buy 6, but I noticed that they wouldn't swim straight out of the package. Some would swim almost belly up and others would run crazy to one side. I tried to tweak them and adjust them with weights and adjusting the line tie. They look cool, and I caught some little fish on them, but I couldn't get them to swim correctly.

Comments: These are awesome. Very realistic and I absolutely love that it floats. Easy to create presentations that look appealing to bass. A steal at this sale price! High quality as well.

Comments: I'm fairly new to swimbait fishing and the Gantarel is fast becoming my favorite bait.  Its durable, casts like a bullet and has a beautiful, realistic retrieve.  The Gantarel is a predator fish magnet.  Bass, chain pickerel, striped bass, redfish.  Wherever predators swim and wherever there are panfish, this is the perfect lure to use.  I just love it.  I already have four of them, three regular size and one junior. I prefer the regular size as it gets more bites from big fish.  I don't think you can go wrong.

Comments: First trip out...2lb...4.5lb./...then a 6lb...have 6  now!!!

Comments: 6 month follow up review. Bought a couple gantarels back in July when I reviewed it then on this site. Have been using these for 6 months now. Have been trophy-only bass fishing in Texas for years and have over 50 10+ pounders. Of all the baits I have used from castaics, ACs, MS slammers, matts, huds and dozens of others this is not only one of the most versatile lures I own, it produces trophy-class fish consistently regardless of the color. If your new to trophy fishing or just want to catch more and larger fish I cannot recommend this lure enough. I own about 20 of them and I only retire one when it gets too beat up or the hooks get to straight. If you can only afford one swimbait - get this one in the standard size. One pounders will hit it and teen bass will hammer it.  Great hookup and landing ratios and a dozen ways to fish it. Causal fisherman or hard-core trophy hunter ya gotta try this lure!

Comments: The best swimbait on the market by far. It catches fish, but not only big fish it will catch you numbers as well. Highly recommended!

Comments: Yes buy this lure! Bought the bass and the bluegill RT to take on my last trip. While it was not my best day ever, I am convinced this baits design and action are very well engineered. We caught 4 8lbr's, and 10+ in the 2-5lbs range on this lure in an afternoon.  Hot July Texas day, many of those fishing were low ability (family reunion) and could not cast a baitcasting reel so we loaded up my swimbait rods with these and slow trolled.  Easy, exciting fishing and many life memories shared. Great bait, great action.  It outperformed caustic bluegill, matts and various 12"-16" worms. The lures are durable and I can find no damage after all those strikes. Would recommend them anywhere you have bluegill or similar forage.  I used normal size and I suggest that over the Jr. unless you have light tackle, as a 1 lbs bass will hit normal size no problem. I recommend them and have returned to TW to get two of the large ones.

Comments: Finally caught one on the spawn gill yesterday.  I was in a pond that I didn't think any fish were in it and was there just to test it and see how to make it swim.  When she hit it I thought that I was hung and I was confused because the water should have been deep, that is until she pulled back.  Ended up being over 22 inches and if I had to guess around 7 to 8 lbs post spawn.  I do like how it swims, but takes some work to make it swim real to me.  I also like when it spins around to look back.  That is when I got the strike.

From: E. McCall: Kingsland, Ga 3/16/17

Comments: this hard swimbait is not a glide bait. it is more of a stop and go. i recommend putting a small willow leaf blade for more flash on the tail. its a very good clear water bait. use 25-30 fror.

From: Jeb: Texas 11/19/16

Comments: It flat out gets attention. It's well made & swims great. Snapping/jerking the rod does not work well for me. My guess is it's because the line tie is right above the nose. using the reel & giving it some slack is the ticket. I have caught 10 bass up to 7lbs and one 9lb CATFISH and TWO bass on ONE cast! The hooks are sticky but total junk. They bend so easy & if you bend them back they break. The feathers are beautiful & and the bass out here like the bait MUCH more with them on. On those times I dead sticked this bait on a follower without them I never got bit. I had one 3lb bass take the feather in it's mouth like a bead fish & then it inhaled the bait! I used the ones off the crap hooks & stitched them on new 2x hooks. After a 4lb bass bit the tail & turned without a hook in it's mouth I installed a stinger, also feathered. It looks very much like a real tail fin, doesn't hurt the action, makes the bait suspend & hooked a tail biter already.

Comments: This bait swims awesome. Stop and go retrieve is what works the best for me. I have caught fish from 1 pound to 6lbs on it. My biggest issues are that the paint is a little bit cheap & the hooks aren't very strong. Bent after my first 4 lber. Other than that this bait is off the charts for the money. Great summer bait.

From: Brock: La Verne, CA  6/22/16

Comments: have caught close to 20 bass on my rt gill ranging from just over a pound to 7.3. Paint comes off quick but the fish still don't mine. I throw it on Alabama rig rod, diawa millionaire reel and 25 pound mono. This bait is deff worth $40 bucks in my opinion.

From: Justin: USA 1/31/16

Comments: Initial thoughts on this bait are great. Swims well, has nice features, and the finishes are top notch.  After time though I soon found out that they swell and crack when exposed to the sun for an extended amount of time.  Knowing what I know now, I would not recommend purchasing if there is any chance the bait might spend a lot of time in a hot rod box or on the deck during summer.

From: Ben: Springdale, AR 8/14/15

Comments: Bait of the year imo. Puts fish in a trance. Key is to fish slowly and take advantage of slow rise. Good jerkbait fisherman will find this a fun summer bait.

From: Bigpoppabass: NH 8/11/15

Comments: The bait worked awesome at attracting big fish. 5 cast in on the first day bait got hit hard by maybe a 5 pound bass. Got the bass to the side of the boat and the fish popped of I thought. After getting the lure up I noticed the back hook was missing (broke at the snap ring). So i put a new hook on without the feather. It swam so bad. So I sent it back for a new one. Next day I was using my second one. Baby bass color and it got slammed so hard on the first cast. I thought it was a double digit bass but when i got it up it ended up being a 10.9 pound channel catfish. So two days and one big fish is ok with me. Will buy more for sure. Paint does fall off on the painted ones but not the ghost colors.

From: Shawn: Temecula, CA 7/5/15

Comments: This bait is great. Dinks to 5 to 6 pounders eat it in MN. Paint chips after a couple dozen fish. Feathered trebles do not last more than a dozen fish. Eyes fall off after about 50 fish. My bait looks like crap now, but it still gets smashed.

From: Rick: St. Francis, MN 6/20/15

Comments: This bait is great. Really attracts the big girls. The only problem is that the paint starts to chip away at the middle and rear joint due to the bait smacking against the water. But for a lower priced swim bait this can be expected. Other than that its a great swimmbait.

From: Nick: MD 5/25/15

Comments: This bait is awesome! Caught some really decent fish on it. As much as I'd love to keep this bait in perfect condition, the fish have made there marks and hooks have scratched a little of the finish off. Heck yeah! If the damage is cause of the fish you know its good!
