After years of field-testing, Trey Kistler and his field staff of professionals have perfected the incredibly smooth and lightweight design of the Kistler Series 1 Casting Reels. Constructed from a one-piece solid aluminum frame and fitted with an anodized aluminum spool, star drag, and tension knob the reels come in at just over 6 ounces of weight! A hardened Zirconia line guide, brass pinion gear, and 10 stainless steel bearings combine for remarkably smooth casting even with ultra-light lures. No internal adjusting required, as the external control is used to fine-tune the centrifugal braking system. Boasting 19lbs of drag power, the multiple carbon disk drag washer system clicks much like a spinning reel when a fish pulls drag.
The oversized, multi-layered, 4in carbon cranking reel handle is super strong, provides improved cranking power, and is equipped with contoured rubber handles for a comfortable grip. A convenient line memory dial takes the guessing out of what size line you have spooled up, and the gear ratio is printed clearly on the spool tensioning knob. Complete with a deep-set anodized aluminum spool that provides plenty of line capacity, a convenient line tie port prevents braid slip and makes re-spooling easy. Factory tuned and tested, the Kistler Series 1 Casting Reels are pre-oiled and ready for combat straight out of the box.

Comments: I wanted to try something new, so I went ahead and tried a kistler brand reel and boy I am glad I did. This reel is incredibly light with a very attractive shiny black and silver finish. This reel is really smooth, It is not Shimano or Daiwa smooth, but it kind of reminds me of a higher end Lews in terms of smoothness. The handle knobs are on the smaller side, which was fine for people who have smaller hands like myself. This reel feels hollow, in a good way light but solid. The price you pay for features like brass gears, line indicator, deep spool, carbon fiber handle, one piece aluminum, carbon drag, and Japanese ball bearings you can go wrong with that amazing reel. I hope to see models with smaller spools in the future, I will definitely be getting more.

Comments: I purchased 10 Series 1 Reels when they first hit the market. We were ready to do some major gear upgrades! My son and I are on the water almost every weekend. He does high school bass tournaments we also belong to a local club and we fish some future pro and BBT events. Needless to say we put our gear through the works! We fish the Ca Delta, Clear lake and all the northern Ca foothill lakes..Every one of those reels we bought are functioning as well or better as the day we unboxed them! I have been so impressed I just ordered 6 more. The casting is incredible, weather you are bombing a frog out on a grass mat or chucking a S waver down the bank. The reel is very adjustable and you will be amazed how well it cast with very little backlash.

Comments: I decided to give Kistlers series 1 a shot and I wasn't disappointed. Gave these babies a workout on lake Michigan and Champlain during the prespawn. We fished 8 hour days for 2 weeks and these things passed the test. They handled several 12 pound plus sheepshead with ease. I also reeled in my PB smallie with this bad boy. These things cast a mile, the retrieve is smooth and they're super light. I hope they get the recognition they deserve. Give a Kistler series 1 casting reel a shot.

Comments: I got a Kistler Series 1 RH 7.3 :1 reel. Seems to be good midrange quality. Fairly smooth. Certainly not Steez smooth but considering the price it's nice. Drag smooth. Easy to adjust for casting. Has line size indicator on handle which is cool. Will have to use it for a few months more to fully assess. Not regretting the purchase in any way
