DisappointingThis is the second lews spinning reel I have bought and had to return. They felt really smooth when first taken out of the box, but when on the water for the first time with each one, there is a knock that can be felt in the stem when reeling in anything that puts slight tension on the line. Lews casting reels are ok, but I will never buy another lews spinning reel.

Replacing all of my spinning reels with this!It seems that some other brands have lowered the quality of some of their products over the recent few years after killing off some of the best spinning reel models ever made... Lew's has jumped ahead with this reel in my opinion. It's "lite" and has a smooth retrieve. Most importantly, the drag is AMAZING!

Best reel ive ever ownedFished this for the whole season. It replaced my 13 carbon after it started to lock up on me. Its light and smooth and feels like it belongs in my hands. Usually after the season is over my spinning reels feel like they got beat up and i always have to grease them up. This reel still looks and feels brand new. I caught quite a few 4s and 5s and even one 6 on it and the drag was the biggest factor in those fish not breaking me off. I will be buying another one to replace my sedona this upcoming season.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I've never spent this much on a spinning reel so I decided to give it a shot and I am not disappointed at all so far. The lightest reel I've ever held. Drag is amazing. I paired it on 6ft medium st. croix premier for Creek and river smallmouth, awesome combo super light.

Comments: First Impression Only - just received these (one 200, one 300) today. Wanted to provide some immediate feedback to those who may be considering them. I've been pleased with my HyperMag's (first Lew's spinning reels that have "measured up" to high standards), and had similar hopes for these Custom Lites. Won't know that until I get to fish them. They are smooth handling, including the drag and balanced - that's the good news. They "look good" in matte grey, if that matters. The 300 weighs 7.0oz vs the listed 6.9oz (1.5%) and the 200 weighs 6.9oz vs the listed 6.6oz (4.5%). The biggest point for immediate feedback is that the foot of each reel seems to be thicker, wider, and less curved than all other spinning reels I have fished - it will likely take a bit of "work" to fit them to rods with narrow and/or shallow reel seats (definitely the case for Dobyns Champion XP's that I test fitted them to).
