7" XH bushwacking bigbait rodI bought the extra heavy version for bank fishing in the bush with big baits (hard body and boot/wedge tail baits). standard big bait rods are just too cumbersome when fishing under trees and this rod performed above my expectations. Lightweight, sensitive, and casts very smoothly. I use this rod to cast baits from 1oz to 4oz and handles the weight range nicely. I've had no problem keeping fish pinned with treble or beast hooked baits and durability is not an issue as I've flipped a 6.5 lber onto a high bank with ease. Highly recommend this rod

6'5" UL and 6'8" BBEvery now and then I get my hands on a new thing that is really nice. The ultralight is an amazing bait finesse rod. I'm fishing 6 lb fluorocarbon and mostly fishing small jerkbaits, some small flat sided crankbaits like Shad Raps or Duo Realis Shads, rooster tails, and finesse swimbaits on ballhead jigs. I had another BFS rod before, and it felt very fragile. I felt like I needed to be careful constantly. And it still ended up breaking on a cast. This rod feels just sturdy enough that I don't feel like I have to be overly careful. Boat flipping 10 inchers no longer incites anxiety. The lure rating is accurate, just make sure your reel is set up ideally for it and have realistic expectations for how far you should be able to cast something that weighs 1/32 oz. The rod actually handles baits around the 1/4 oz range very well. It would probably be a good rod for throwing those 40-50 mm size squarebills, but haven't tried it yet. It has no trouble bearing the 1/0 hook from a Keitech super ball head jig. I can't say enough good about it. If you have $140 to spend on a BFS rod, look no further. The 6'8" BB is a rod I have dreamed about. I had even gone so far as to talk to a few custom rod-builders trying to brainstorm something like this. I felt like there was no good rod on the entire market for throwing a big jerkbait like a Megabass Kanata or Lucky Craft Pointer 158. Most rods that had been pinned down as good options were too long for me to fish comfortably in a kayak. I also wanted a rod that would be highly optimized for fishing magnum squarebills (8.0, 6th Sense Silent Mag, etc.) or big topwaters at close range or around cover. I was told there was no way I could have all of this in one rod. Major Craft did it, and it's still less than $170. At 6'8" it is short enough that I'm not slapping the water when working baits. It also has a 15 inch handle which helps since less of the rod is front, but the best thing about the longer handle is that when you're winding a giant squarebill, you can tuck it under your arm and avoid being worn out. I already caught a five pounder on it. It hit a Cloud 9 right at the kayak and the rod doubled over beautifully. Major Craft already has a few other bass fishing oriented rod lineups available in Japan. I'm very excited to see more from this company

Stiff; but sensitivity is crisply sharpThis rod is very light out of your tube, and I absolutely love sleeve that this rod ships in. It even has all the specs in a laminated display on the case. I must point out this is my first time trying a rod from the JDM realm, coming from using exclusively SC products. The best way I can describe this rod is that it feels like a walleye rod, but in an ultra-light package. In my honest opinion, it feels more like a true light, or at the very least, an ultra-light+. I run braid with 2.5ft fluoro leader for my ultralight BFS setup, and crappie bites felt sharp, *ding ding* with every twitch or turn they would make. You’ll be able to feel exactly what they’re doing while tight on the line. I like that aspect of this rod. My only complaint? It’s stiff. Stiff like a 6’0 medium light fast+/extra fast. I run tandem jigs, each being 1/32 with micro plastics. I can’t feel what I’m doing when imparting action on my lures while fishing this light. However, being as stiff as it is, I’m surprised it can cast pretty far out in front of me, like well over 35 ft. It’s a good rod, otherwise. I haven’t tried it with tandem 1/16 jigs yet, so I can’t speak to how it feels yet. I imagine the stiffness is what helps with finessing your lure, so I guess I can’t have it both ways. It fishes very nice. I caught a bunch of fish with this the first night. At its price point, it punches at the same weight class as my blue SC rods. I love this rod. Last thing. The finish is great. I wish US made rods had this type of attention to detail, from the high shine finish, the shiny wind checks, the beautiful high shine paint finish on the blank, and fully decked out with Fuji componentry, including alconite inserts; cherry on top. Love it.

Comments: Major Craft Bekei offers some of the best value for the money that I've ever experienced. I own rods that are more expensive than this one, but this one out-preforms some, if not most, of my middle range priced rods. Normally, when people say that, they don't have nearly enough experience with more expensive models to make that claim. I, however, work in a tackle shop and have handled and fished a lot of rods. This is a rod where I feel like I can make that claim truthfully. Obviously, you won't get a high end rod for this amount of money, that's not what I'm saying, but you will get a rod that feels like a $200 rod. Reel seat feels great, the sensitivity is really good (better than my $200 Dragon Fishmaker rod for an example), I really like the guides and the power and action are both very accurate compared to the description. I really recommend the Major Craft Benkei. It's my favorite rod by far in this price range.

Comments: Just unveiled it and it is a beaut! Very stylish and detailed. Got it to do BFS-style fishing and this rod looks game to do that. Feel and balance match quite well with the baitcaster I bought for it and it ought to be fun to fish with. This is the third rod I have purchased from TW, in this line (MajorCraft.) So far, I'm extremely pleased with everything and TW is a choice dealer to do business with. Never a single glitch or bump in the road in doing business with them and they always give good product advice.
