Overview

Delivering big action in a small package, the Megabass Grand Siglett is a crawling topwater cicada lure that sets the standard for bug-pattern bass fishing. Featuring specially designed wings, the wings hold tightly to the body for aerodynamic casts and open with the first tug on the line.

With the wings open wide, the Grand Siglett will crawl with a lifelike splashing and bubbling action at slow and medium retrieve speeds. With subtle twitches, the Grand Siglett will pulse in place, perfect for pinpoint targeting of inviting overhangs and pockets of still water. With short, strong pulls, the Grand Siglett erupts into a furious burst of commotion that draws wary fish into striking.  It also features a hard-plastic exoskeleton that doubles as a rattle-chamber with a tungsten alloy balancer inside, which is precision-tuned to mimic the cicada’s fading cry.

The Grand Siglett is equipped with an extra wide gap double hook that provides an increased hook-up ratio as well, and even allows you to switch the direction of the hook points for varying conditions. In dense cover set the hook upward to keep the hook points alongside the body and out of the way from snagging. When targeting open water or short-strike situations, set the hook points so they face away from the body to get a better hook-up ratio. Available in a wide range of highly realistic colors that Megabass lures are known for, the Grand Siglett offers an abundance of action in a bite-sized package.

Comments: Here on the east coast (Maryland), the 17-year Brood X cicadas have emerged from the ground in the billions and the fish are loving it.  So I bought a few of these a few months ago in preparation of brood x.  Did not disappoint, they are the perfect imitation of a cicada flapping on top of the water! Bass, carp, bluegill, crappie, anything! they crush these cicadas

Comments: These little things get bit!  But you gotta throw on a spinning rig and I miss a lot of bass and/or they get off before I get them to my boat.  My line also gets tangled up in the little hook which is challenging to fix at dusk.  But yeah, it's like bass candy.  Reminds me of a little Jitterbug.

Comments: When the bass are key in on dragonflies or bugs. This little bug straight up killer! Don't be discouraged by the hook or price, landed all my bass!

Comments: Awesome little top water bait. Steady retrieval will give an erratic crawling action. Sharp short twitches open and close the silicone wings for a slower walking action. The ring that connects to the double hook spins with some effort so you can flip the hook over so that the points are facing upward. Do this if your water has more grass and scum on top.

Comments: These are well made baits and are fun to use. Not recommended for baitcasters only spinning reels. Just chuck it out and slowly reel it back. plop, plop, plop, plop, STRIKE!!! Set the hook! Catches various species of fish. Pike, walleye, smallmouth, largemouth, rock bass, carp, trout, white bass, bluegill. Just a fun all round bait to use. It makes on heck of a racket on top of the water which in return attracts attention from fish.  Bait lands upright every time. WARNING!!! The hooks are razor sharp!!! and high quality. Grab some of these baits and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Comments: I was intrigued by this lure after seeing a couple online videos of it catching fish and decided to splurge.  I ordered the Abura Zemi and the first time using it on the first warm morning when the water was just over 60 degrees I hooked into a decent bass at a local pond on my 2nd cast much to my surprise.   The lure is pretty light and weighed in at 6 grams, so actually a touch less than the stated 1/4oz (which is 7 grams)  so make sure you have an appropriate setup to cast it.  I was using a medium Dobyns Sierra 703sf spinning rod rated for 3/16-5/8 with 10lb mono, and this seemed to give sufficient casting distance. It casts well as it is quite compact, and the action is really nice.  It can be tugged or popped forward a bit (not a true popper with cupped lip or anything though), simply stopped to float and present a nice cicada profile on the surface or steadily and slowly retrieved to get the wings flapping and the rattles providing a subtle cicada like sound and it looks like an injured bug attempting to get off of the surface.   I ended up catching a 2.8 lb bass 30 minutes later as well again using a slow retrieve, so some decent size bass are still definitely interested in this small of a lure.  A few days later I even caught a large bluegill on it. It has an interesting 2 pointed hook on it that is like a standard treble hook with one prong removed.  I missed a couple bass that came up and slurped it but didn't get hooked, but I haven't gotten to fish it enough to get an accurate hook-up ratio with enough hits and catches.   So far I've caught 3 and had about 2 or 3 misses, and I'm not sure if its me reacting too quickly, the hook design or non committal fish.  The good news is, that if you don't like the hookup ratio, you can easily replace the hook with any size standard 3 prong treble you like without even having to cut off the stock hook, the way it is set up. Overall, it is typical Megabass quality with a sticky sharp hook, excellent looking detail, and it seems like it will be quite durable with no signs of wear after my first 3 catches and 2-3 other hits.   Definitely not cheap, but it is a very fun lure to tie on and retrieve and overall is worth it I find.   I was enjoying using it so much that I actually ordered a couple more in different colors.
