Overview

Designed to reduce backlashes and improve your casting distance, the Okuma Halogen Casting Reels utilize a magnetic field generated by the high revolutions of the spool to regulate its speed during casting. Allowing for minute and accurate on-the-fly adjustments, the externally adjustable magnetic cast control system is influenced by precisely placed magnets which exert an opposing force to slow down the spool. Built with a QuickSet anti-reverse bearing to provide solid hooksets, the multi-disc drag washers offer smooth and consistent performance when the fish make a spirited run.

Featuring a lightweight and durable 33.5 mm machined aluminum black anodized spool, the main gear and pinion gears are constructed from high strength brass for long-lasting performance. The precision stainless steel bearing drive system offers smooth, balanced, and consistent retrieves so your focus remains on fishing instead of your equipment. Complete with a corrosion-resistant frame and side plates, the Okuma Halogen Casting Reels rise to the challenge and enhance all of your on the water encounters.

Just a solid reelI bought this as one of my first entry level bait casters with minimal knowledge and no expectations. It's a little cheap feeling and makes a little noise but casts smooth and years later this thing still plays a roll in my arsenal on a 7'2" moderate action rod for throwing crank baits and small bladed jigs.

Packs a punch at its price pointI bought this reel on a whim as I never used an Okuma Casting reel. I was surprised by its performances. Cast effortlessly. I was casting 20-30yds into 20mph winds and around 45yds with no wind impact. Never once had a backlash. Haven’t owned long enough to talk durability or longevity. Also the only concern I have is the low 11lbs of drag.

Crunchy? Not worth the near 100$ price tag, caught several big fish on it but the worm gear/level wind system has made it to where you cannot detect a bite while reeling. Cheap parts make it choppy and insensitive during reeling, thusly I value this to the lowest standard of casting reels. I've taken mine down cleaned lubricated and put together itself 5 times in 12 months and it just feels gritty no matter what.
