Comments: Have been fishing the 6'8" for a little over a week. The rod looks very sharp and the fit and finish is excellent. I have been using PE .6 braid on it and can literally bomb casts. The rod loads very well using 3-6 gram baits. I have not gone lower than 3 yet. My main observation is that although the rod is rated as extra fast, it definitely feels on the slow side of fast as compared to most of my JDM BFS rods. Working small jerkbaits and JDM trout minnows produces quite a bit of tip bounce and the rod is slow to rebound. This also shows up a bit when fishing various bottom contact baits in that the hookset is not extremely fast and crisp. Sensitivity is good though. For me the rod excels at moving bait applications.

Comments: I have a Dobyns Sierra & Trout rod, which isn't the best for targeting panfish since it tends to rip their lips. It's more of a BFS bass rod than anything else. This one from Phenix seems to do a better job of not putting holes in panfish mouths, and it's doing better for treble hook baits. It feels a tad bit more sensitive than the Dobyns too. I'm using this to target panfish, but it still feels more like a bass specific BFS rod than anything else. It looks a lot like the Megabass P5 Destroyer Siglett, has the same lure, and power/action ratings. I'm not sure if Phenix was trying to give us mid tier guys a Megabass like BFS rod, but I'm loving the aesthetics and fishability of this rod. This is my first rod from Phenix and it's leaving a good impression. We'll see how it holds up overtime, but right now I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
