Overview
If you’re looking for the ultimate baitfish swimbait for catching kicker-sized bass, you need to try the Scottsboro Tackle Shad Swimbait. Featuring a multi-segmented design, the Scottsboro Tackle Shad Swimbait generates a natural and enticing swimming action that can be altered with different retrieve speeds, giving anglers a wide range of versatility. If used with a slow retrieve and short twitches it will produce a wide gliding motion, while a fast retrieve allows anglers to burn it and create a tight “S” pattern swimming action that will not blow out to trigger aggressive reaction strikes. You can even wake it across the surface by using a fast retrieve and holding your rod tip high.
To increase your fish landing ratios, the Scottsboro Tackle Shad Swimbait is equipped with two treble hooks that are tied onto the bait with 65lb Power Pro Braid instead of split rings, which allows the hooks to spin freely once a fish is hooked, preventing them from gaining leverage to throw the hooks. It is also armed with Owner STX-45 Zo Wire Treble Hooks that deliver lightning fast hooksets and phenomenal strength for getting big fish to the boat. Finished with 3D eyes and textured scales to help fool the wariest of bass, the Scottsboro Tackle Shad Swimbait is a precision-tuned swimbait that will put bigger fish in your livewell.

Comments: I was able to fish this bait for testing long before it's fairly recent release. So that said, here's the deal. I'm an avid Swimbait fisherman. I own baits from 4" to 12". I won my first tournament back in 2001 on a Swimbait and I've been hooked since then. This bait was truly a pleasant surprise for a Swimbait of this size. It's perfect for advanced anglers to beginners. You don't really need a designated Swimbait rod for this bait. I have plenty. But I found myself throwing this bait on a 7'6 heavy action rod with 16lb fluorocarbon. This is one of THE truest running baits right out of the package I've ever thrown. It has the perfect sink rate for fishing shallow to that 8-10' zone. The action is a tight swim that emits vibration like a chatterbait that you can feel as it swims. It's amazing how much thump it puts off. It is amazing when burned subsurface. It runs straight as an arrow and makes a great wake. It's really hard to get this bait to blow out. Again, that's really amazing for its size and weight. I caught fish on this bait from Summer through the fall. In the Alabama heat, I fished it slow to moderate speeds around cover and over deeper grass with success. Early in the mornings and before sundown, the subsurface presentation was great for the topwater bite. As the water cooled and Shad got pushed back into the shallow creeks, I found a steady, fast retrieve to be very effective. Fish eat this bait. And like most swimbaits, they hit it hard. I found myself throwing this bait more and more than other multi segmented swimbaits I own in this size. Just buy one. You won't be disappointed.

Comments: This one is a catcher. It will not blow out at high speed retrieves and is much easier to cast than other jointed swimbaits. The color is great and components are top notch. Definitely one of my favorite jointed swimbaits.
